Aine, the owner and our instructor for this first class, is great. She is super friendly, welcoming, provides great instruction and simple steps to learn. Aine is also amazingly talented, making all the moves look so fluid and easy, which is inspiring to see as I flailed around the pole! I consider myself fit, working out 5-6 days a week, but that doesn't prepare you for pole. It is a whole new test of strength, flexibility and coordination (and I'm pretty lacking in the last two of that list). I look forward to trying more classes soon--Polemic recently adding a twerking class! Ha, can't wait for that!

This studio has the feel of a family Mom and Pop studio but it just so happens that Ma and Pa danced professionally for many years. Megan and John bring talent, knowledge, and a wealth of experience to OBA along with warmth. Serious dance. Serious fun. The students are taught technically correct ballet but the environment remains welcoming. There are expectations but they're realistic. Dress appropriately. Be on time. Respect your classmates. Try your best. OBA's fall performance is always held Thanksgiving weekend at LCC. The first one I went to I was blown away. For a period of time I was so engrossed I actually forgot I was watching children! Such a professional and polished performance. Yet youthful and light. If your child is interested in trying ballet I recommend OBA 100%. They offer a free trial class and if you have a son interested in ballet their boys program is free!

You walk in and immediately get hit with chemicals, and it's difficult to work out in an environment (esp where asthma or chemical sensitivities aren't considered), and an owner that doesn't make health a #1 priority for everyone. Just go online and you can find that these chemicals are irritants for lungs and mucus membranes. Hello? We're breathing hard in there working out! In speaking with the owner on the phone directly, she made mention that people complained about the bathrooms smelling and thus why they now pump chemicals throughout. The solution isn't to pump chemicals into the entire facility. Keep it in the bathrooms if that's the issue. She wasn't willing to bend on reducing the chemical use. Very disappointing. I really like the atmosphere otherwise, nice people, decent equipment. I Just wish the owner had more tact around keeping the air healthy for everyone, as 15 minutes is about all I can tolerate in this place at any given time.

I haven't seen a single piece of broken equipment in my month of training here, and I come five days per week. Additionally, there's a lobby with a huge TV for game watch parties. The staff is very friendly and helpful! If you go to UO, check this place out for your workout! "I don't want to be here I want to go to the game" - a literal quote from one of the "employees" of this facility.

I had the pleasure of attending Eugene Ballet's presentation of BOLD…read more BOLD is comprised of 4 unique and innovative pieces by different Choreographers. This is not a typical classical ballet. Thankfully the Program prepared me with some context. TRIPTYCH is based on the transformation of British Serviceman during Afghanistan deployment. My first thought was, "Ballet in camo, who would have thought"? I found the pieces fascinating, artistic with a military/martial arts kind of feel, depicting strength and precision. To the extent that military effort is a means to peacekeeping, this was a hopeful way to connect harsh reality and creative expression. I'd love to hear what a Veteran would think or feel. I really appreciated this ballet. PENUMBRA, the second piece, is more intimately relational and the most traditional, beautifully fluid, delicate and lovely to watch. The dancers make this all look effortless. FOIL is creative and held my interest with the variety of dance moves, costumes, lighting and breaks between segments. Also, beautiful to take in. CHOROS is lively and athletic and showcased dancer's strength, technique and energy. Tremendously impressed with the dancers and choreographers, and with the Eugene Ballet for sharing artistic time and talent with us.
