I needed two rackets strung and I called Tennis Center Sand Point for a quote. I talked to the receptionist and she said she'll transfer me to the Pro Shop. I waited on the phone and I was left with a voice message saying the voicemail inbox was full. Ok, no problem, I called again and same receptionist picked up. I was then transferred again, and someone picked up...from the Tennis Center cafe. Er, what? I called a third time and was finally transferred to the Pro shop. I asked them for their prices and it was a bit steep in the price (which by all means is fine - I'm not arguing against their policy.) I wanted to ask another question and thanked them for the quote, and in the middle of my sentence, the guy in the Pro Shop, with the most monotone and rude voice, interrupted me and just said: "Have a nice day" and hung up on me. The nerve. Customer service just flew out the door. This interaction itself single-handedly made my decision to NOT go to Sand Point to get my rackets strung. Sand Point, you just lost a potential customer. And from all the 1-star reviews, this is not an isolated incident. From the rudeness to overall incompetency, I will be looking elsewhere to get my tennis needs met.

For my needs, the club has been great with tons of options for drop in classes based on level. Where it gets a little more difficult would be for folks who want to sign up for a 6 week clinic and especially for children as the demand is far higher than supply. There is also a pro shop, which seems to have gotten some mixed reviews, but I haven't had any issues with them and the quality of the string jobs tends to be better than Avanti Sports.

I owe my daughter's growing excitement about hoops to Pat at Home Court!…read more When my 5th grade daughter decided to switch from soccer to basketball this fall, I thought it would be good to introduce her to the basics. I looked at their website and chose a session on basic skills. When I went in to sign her up, though, Pat (the owner) recommended a different session that would give her scrimmage experience. My daughter was a bit uncomfortable for the first few sessions and even said she wanted to quit (!), but suddenly, about halfway through, she started to feel more confident about her skills. She ended up loving it! I wouldn't have thought that this was the right session for her - which is why I'm giving 4 stars. A good facility is one thing, but having the staff expertise available to point kids in the best direction is what's important.

This review is just for the pool, as I have yet to use the rest of the facilities…read more The Meadowbrook pool is okay compared the other ones around Seattle. First off, it's indoors, which means swimming all year round. It's huge, has diving boards, a few bleachers to sit, and is freaking cold. Sign up early for lessons and classes. Always call ahead to check for closures due to cleaning and maintenance. These people really need to heat their pool better. Especially for all the kids swimming in it. We've done the baby class here and it's terrible for children and infants to have to brave cold water. I've seen plenty of people having to leave early because their infant can't handle the cold. I know they've been informed of the problem, but they don't seem to care. And honestly, it is a tad cold even for me and I'm a god damn Polar Bear Plunge member! I love to cold water swim but not when I'm in a pool. The locker rooms are decent. Clean. Enough benches, only one changing table though. Plenty of hooks, lockers, showers and toilets. Even some crazy-spiny-dry-your-wet-stuff thing. Strangely enough, Seattle sure has some body issues. It's just silly to see grown women nervously and dangerously stumbling under a towel so no one can see their "goodies" while trying to carol their children. Maybe I've just been in the medical world too long or I just have no shame. Either way, prepare to get looked at like a leper if you get naked without reservation. The parking is ample, though you get plenty of Lake City spill off and slack-jawed yokel teens running around. So watch your belongings and lock the doors. Vandalism and break-ins are normal. And it is so close to the beautiful Meadowbrook Pond. A great excuse to explore that area.

Fantastic pool for water fitness!…read more Unlike other, larger complexes, the Helene Madison Pool does not have an open/rec swim that runs concurrently with the water fitness classes. Lap swim I used primarily during the autumn/winter months when away from my main pool, be it a neighborhood pool or an on-campus pool at university. Desk workers have been professional and friendly. The deck space has been mild in temperature, which is helpful when out of the pool. Locker rooms have been tidy/cleanly. As someone with mild asthma, this is one of the pools where it takes a little adjusting for my lungs to equilibrate when swimming. Indoor swimming pools can be harder on my lungs than outdoor swimming pools (less natural airflow), however after about 30 minutes my lungs start doing better.
