Sharing our experience specifically regarding after hours pricing. We had a customer call for an…read moreafter-hours water leak. The total invoice was $698 for approximately 15 minutes on site: $199 for the after hours service call and an additional $499 to turn a ball valve back on. As a fellow service contractor, I completely understand the added cost of providing after-hours service. Technicians deserve to be compensated for leaving their families and responding outside normal business hours. That said, I felt $499 on top of a $199 after-hours fee for turning a valve was more than excessive. I called the owner directly hoping we could have a contractor to contractor conversation about the charge, but he was unwilling to make any adjustment. We paid for the service and take responsibility for why the plumber was needed. My concern is simply the pricing, and I think potential customers should be aware of what an after-hours call can cost.

We had a sinkhole appear suddenly in the back yard. Good sized hole. Water pouring into it from somewhere. That was going to require digging with a shovel in the cold of the late afternoon. Needless to say, it was wet. No fun at all Mike took the job, dug into the hill until he found the broken pipe, fixed it, tested everything, and saved us. He kept his good humor all through it. No, it wasn't a lot of fun but he just kept going and solved it. That was pretty good. Take a dirty job late in the day when others turn it down. Ugh, I wish I had called someone else!…read more Competitive plumbing is now owned by Mark Wallace Plumbing. Mark and his son Jordan are very nice and skilled plumbers. However, my biggest complaint is their terrible lack of communication! I was never sure if they were going to show up or not. They were difficult to get a hold of on the phone, did not return calls or text messages and were not clear when they were coming by. They took weeeeeeks to install a shower handle due to issues unrelated to them. They were trying to get an extension piece which never fit so they ended up jerry-rigging the valve without sealing it properly and did it all janky! I had to have another plumber come and fix it! The last few times they came by they just made me feel bad complaining about the tile guy and what a bad job he did (I thought he did great!). I just got fed up and wanted the job done and them gone. I regret calling them in the first place!

I hired Rock Steady Plumbing to install a Navien tankless water heater on August 10, 2026, at a…read morecost of approximately $6,900. At that price, I expected a professional installation that was completed correctly. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. After the installation, I discovered significant deficiencies that required correction. The tankless water heater had been powered using an extension cord running across attic floor, rather than a permanent electrical connection, and the condensate line had been routed underneath the house, where it was draining into the crawl space rather than being properly terminated outside. I contacted Rock Steady and gave them the opportunity to correct the issues themselves. When the necessary corrections were not completed in a timely manner, I ultimately had to hire another licensed plumber and an electrician to complete and correct the work. The electrician corrected the electrical connection. The second plumbing company rerouted the condensate line from underneath the house and properly terminated it outside. Their invoice specifically documented that they had to plumb the condensate line from where the prior plumber had left it under the house and terminate it outside. To Rock Steady's credit, after I submitted the invoices for this corrective work, they reimbursed me in full for both the plumbing and electrical expenses. I believe that is important to include. However, reimbursement does not change the quality of the original installation or the considerable amount of time and effort required on my part to get the situation resolved. The original installation occurred on August 10, and I did not receive final reimbursement until September 17--more than five weeks later. During that time, I had to identify and document the problems, communicate repeatedly with Rock Steady, arrange for other licensed professionals to evaluate and correct the installation, pay those expenses myself, and then seek reimbursement. I paid approximately $6,900--a premium price for a professional tankless water heater installation. Instead, portions of the installation were substandard and ultimately had to be corrected by other professionals. I appreciate that Rock Steady ultimately reimbursed me for those corrective expenses. But for a $6,900 professional installation, I expected the work to be done correctly the first time. It wasn't.
