They have a huge food pantry, there is an amazing well-stocked Community Closet, and you will see the many volunteers there helping the community! Please donate food and gently used or new clothing and other products here. They will take anything. It's easy to donate, they have plenty of parking in the back, there's an area to donate in the front with huge bins and food carts. I really enjoyed learning about their many programs, like making Easter baskets for kids, back to school packages, and so much more. They also provide financial assistance. The Community Closet smelled good, the items were clean. I highly recommend you visit this place for services or to help their cause. They have fundraisers. Check out the website. You can stop by weekdays from 8:30-4:30 to drop off clothes or food and other items. They provide services during these hours, but as the director said, she's even there working on the weekends to care for the community.

For people seeking employment and independence, there is a 9-month internship program called Project Search which has two sites including Goodwin College and Hartford Hospital which is very helpful for people like me. There's some cool annual events hosted by MARC Inc. including Summer Concert series, Bowl-A-Thon, some themed dances and Golf tournaments.

Many interesting and fun programs over the years from craft projects to fantastic performances. The staff are amazing humans who put 100% into everything they do, not just for the kids, but the whole family. Very knowledgeable and supportive. Great books of every kind, including tough subjects and how to talk to kids about anything: bullying or bodies or big life changes. The adults area is great and I have enjoyed taking my laptop and doing quiet work by the enormous windows at the provided desks- that have outlets! Also there was a problem with a little one and Miss Corine defused it and handled the situation with much compassion and expertise. All the woman have helped our little one from being shy to wanting to making friends and participating in the events and open play. An amazing crew, couldn't be more grateful that they are apart of our community.

Woodbury has a very active Senior community, and this is the hub of what goes on in town. The space is also used for programs geared for the entire community, like the frequent movie nights and mini-golf tournaments. This is also where town meetings are held, and is the local polling place. It's a multi-use facility that sees a lot of visitors, and has greatly improved the quality of life for those in town, especially the Seniors.

There was also a spacious play area, although dated, with puzzles, blocks, and a few toys. The library was extremely friendly and went out of her way to make sure my boys and I felt welcome and had a good experience. It is does not have the bells and whistles of the main branch, but for a satellite branch it meets my family's needs.

The Faxon Branch Library, is part of the West Hartford Libraries, it is the smallest of the three…read morelibraries. The entire library is in one room, on one floor. Despite how small it is, it still has all of the resources one would find in a typical library, including the very friendly librarians. My class is currently learning about animals. I thought Free Willy would be a great movie to play them as a reward for their hard work. I popped by the Faxon Branch Library to see if said movie on DVD was in stock. And it was! I also picked up a few books about bears who hibernate. The library is very organized and clean. If they happen to not have an item you're looking for, they can easily borrow it from another library. I think the smaller the library the more organized and the easier it is to find what you're looking for. My class loved Free Willy, and both of the books!

Hourly street parking is available, but can get sketchy, so I parked in a lot. It cost me $10 but it was next door, simple, and I didn't have to circle and hunt for an open spot. It is a Federal Building, so there is a metal detector at the entrance. Security personnel are friendly and helpful. The Social Security Administration office is on the first floor, down the hall, easy to find. When you get there, check in at the kiosk. If you made an appointment, you will get an e-mail and/or text. When you get to the office, check in through the e-mail or text. You will receive a bar code. Scan the bar code at the kiosk, get your ticket, and have a seat I arrived 15 minutes early to find many people waiting. However, I was called 5 minutes before my appointment time and was finished within minutes! The benefit of making an appointment! Many thanks to Veronica & Julian who were friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable! So much helpful information I didn't know!!!
