Beginner or well-practiced, Buddhist or non-Buddhist...do yourself an honest favor and check out one of their drop-in meditation classes!! They have Centers for practice in, not just East Hartford, but also Manchester, Old Lyme, Hamden, Hartford, and Guilford! Check out their website for class days and times! I just returned from their 'How to Transform Your Life Day Retreat' at the East Hartford location, and I am absolutely thrilled with the experience that I had today. I attended the event with my friend Dereka, a dedicated Yogi (and a Yelp Elite), who agreed that we will both be back for many more meditation classes. *HUGE thank you to Resident Teacher Kelsang Khyenwang for providing us with the her incredible wisdom, hospitality, and compassion. She taught all 4 classes throughout our retreat day with insurmountable love and sincerity. Each class during our retreat was about an hour long, where we were lovingly taught about basic Buddhist lessons that were aimed to teach us how to "step out of the ordinary of our daily lives" to be mindful in what we think, say, and do in order to positively transform our lives and those that we come in contact with. The lessons were so relatable and our Teacher explained them in a way that was not only easily understood, but also profoundly moving. I will absolutely be back for more meditation classes. In fact, when I come back, I want to bring my parents, my siblings, my friends, my staff...pretty much anyone who is willing to come with me. My experience here was THAT good. And trust me when I say you can be any religion, age, gender, etc to appreciate and learn from these lessons. Don't just take my review for it...PLEASE check out one of these classes for yourself!! It will change your life if you let it!!! *This is a 501-C3 non-profit organization that functions on volunteers-- make a donation today to help keep this wonderful Center up and running!!*

My first experience was eye opening! The musicians played the instruments so beautifully as I escaped into my own state of meditation. It was absolutely incredible. I preach these sound meditations to my friends (some of which have joined me!). My meditation practices have expanded and my life has been a lot more peaceful because of it. A week later, I was climbing the stairs to their second floor studio to participate in their Sound Meditation Concert. And I am so happy I did. I honestly did not know what to expect. We were greeted by one of the musicians (who very well may be the owner) who was friendly, knowledgeable and guided us to our "nest." We were 15 minutes earlier and there were already 10 or so people "ready" for the concert. This readiness meant laying on your mat, putting a few blankets over you, placing your head on the foam pillow and adorning your eye mask. It was terribly comfortable - I am surprised I didn't fall asleep. While I will admit I did get antsy at times over the next 75 minutes, the gongs, rattles and singing bowls were awesome. The two musicians were in sync and it was a wonderful evening. The one down side was the man snoring two nests over, but I was able to tune him out (at times). Looking forward to going back!!

They design my workouts very thoughtfully and make changes based on my physical situation when I come in. I am so much healthier, with excellent balance now and much more strength. It's worth it, totally. Original review: I've tried several gyms and absolutely love this one. It is attractive without being glitzy. It is kept very clean, and they take a lot of pride in keeping the equipment in good shape. Even as a flabby senior, I feel so comfortable there; there is no competition with other members. People are very friendly, and I've had nice conversations with other members. The trainers are wonderful and very knowledgeable. After two months, I feel like a million bucks. No matter what level of fitness you have, there is something there for you, from basic low-level Curves equipment (in its own room) to the high-caliber super-fit stuff. It's a very positive place.

They have several treadmills, barbells, weightlifting equipment and much more. They even offer personal training and almost 24 hour access to the gym. The only small thing is that the water fountain does not put out enough water to properly fill your bottle. And I don't drink Dasani which was offered from a vending machine. So bring your own water bottles in my opinion. Worth coming to get a nice workout with a large crowd.
