Catering and staff costs are typically the biggest portion of your wedding budget and when I initially started the vendor search around Brooklyn and NYC area, I couldn't believe how much other caterers charge you. Typically other Brooklyn and Manhattan caterers are so overpriced and hyped up for no reason. Pricing for Creative Foods was affordable and so much more reasonable compared to other competitors out there yet Creative Foods did not compromise quality and delivered exceptional food/staff for the event. I highly recommend Creative Foods Catering. We had a low budget for our wedding and Creative Foods came in the best in pricing (also provided us with ideas/options to cut down costs) and had great reviews on Yelp. We had set up a tasting in queens and Mehmet brought everything needed for the tasting and was able to heat things up using the small toaster oven we had available. Even before the tasting, we had provided feedback to Mehmet about certain ingredients that we wanted to swap out and he was very accommodating and recommended things that would be complementary. After tasting, we had made a few more tweaks to our menu and signed the contract/paid deposit via credit card and got the tasting fee waived. It was an easy process. Throughout the process, Mehmet/Michelle answered our questions quickly and all emails were responded pretty much the next day and if not within 2 days, they were apologetic about it. It's a nice feeling to know you can count of them. They had done a wedding at our venue once previously and when we were applying for beer/wine license, they were super helpful which enabled us to get the license successfully. Also one thing to note was that 2 wks before wedding, we had told them that we'd rent oblong tablecloths through CFC but after a quick research online, we found cheap tablecloths and asked Mehmet if we can change our mind. Mehmet immediately responded that we should get those b/c they were cheaper than what CFC would charge us. That's an example of how CFC treats their customers - with their interests at heart. The only thing I am deducting a star from was that I *think* the desserts had ran out.. not sure if my friends are just super greedy sugar munching monsters, but there weren't any shooters left by the time I had sat down. :( I heard the key lime pie shooter was good though. Also, the # of wait staff was less than we had expected but this wasn't an issue since our guests all got their food in a timely manner and the waitstaff also helped us tremendously with cleanup and stacking up chairs. Anyways, Mehmet and Michelle really are a pleasure to work with. I have no doubt that they did everything they could to make sure our wedding was a success. My now-husband and I decided to take an hour to ourselves after our wedding ceremony to have some drinks and appetizers alone during the cocktail hour to eat and take it all in (honestly the only time we got to eat all evening!). One of his staff in particular went to great lengths to make sure we had enough food, drinks, a candle, whatever we needed to be comfortable in that hour, and even offered to get us plates of food when she saw that we weren't getting much of a chance to eat during dinner. Of course, the second I got to the alter, I looked out at my guests and my first thought was, "what? So and so is here and only RSVP'd as tentative! I didn't think she was coming! where will she and her guest sit?"I tried to file this away in my mind for later so I could be present in the ceremony LOL. Luckily we had some last minute cancellations (to be expected), so the second the ceremony was over, we alerted Mehmet, and he and is staff were ON IT and added chairs to the table I specified. We had Mehmet at our home for the tasting, and it was out of this world. We had the beef skewers and falafel for appetizers as well as a mediterranean platter, salmon and beef options for dinner, and mini desserts served in shot glasses. We were so happy with everything from the appetizers to the dessert. I felt like we were really treating our guests to a delicious meal and not "wedding food,"and all for a very reasonable budget. He was also very helpful when it came to assisting with how much alcohol we should order to serve. We wanted 4 classic cocktails on the menu, and the bartenders did an amazing job creating them. (I'm sure it was a pain having people ordering specialty martinis all night)! Also, the glassware was beautiful, which was very important to my husband, the martini enthusiast. We also rented the linens and ballroom chairs from Mehmet. The whole thing was beautiful and perfect. Mehmet was so easy to work with, positive, friendly, organized, and professional. Creative Foods Catering was an amazing part of our Brooklyn wedding. I'm so happy we chose them! We were looking for looking for a caterer that was both affordable and delicious. We wanted a menu that wasn't just the usual played out wedding food. While CFC does offer the typical wedding dishes, Mehmet (the owner) being Turkish he can infuse some much more interesting and international flavors/dishes as desired. We had pistachio-crusted lamb chops and Mediterranean dip station for cocktail hour. For meal, we had Mediterranean salad, bistro filet, swordfish skewers, green onion scallions, and rice medley w/ nuts and fruit. Then a churro station and dessert shooters for dessert. It was completely fantastic - everything on that list was so delicious! People could not stop talking about how great the food was and my dad was waiting by the door to eat all those tender lamb chops as they came out! While we were only searching for delicious food and affordability, I can't say enough how important it was that CFC was so professional - and I know this would not have been the case with the other caterers we shortlisted. CFC were on top of everything, fully prepared, and always one step ahead of us. I didn't think that professionalism would be so important for our casual wedding but that last month before the wedding got awfully hectic and to not have to worry at all about catering is so appreciated in retrospect. In addition to taking care of minor rentals as needed, Mehmet also gave us some tips from their prior experience on how to make sure the event goes smoothly (esp with our event being DIY). We read good reviews about Creative Foods and after checking out their reviews and menus, we decided on them for our wedding. We wanted a Chinese Western fusion family style meal for our wedding. We really stressed that we wanted family style, as that is how traditional Chinese wedding banquets are. Mehmet doesn't really have much experience with cooking asian food, so we came up with a menu for him. For hor d'oeuvres, I came up with 3 that I love to eat and for the reception, I based it off of traditional Chinese wedding menus mixed in with the food my American husband grew up with. Mehmet came to our house to do a tasting and the food was great. We also decided on doing the fruit/cheese platter and dessert shooters. CFC rented all of the furniture, silverware, etc.., thus it was 1 less thing to worry about. Mehmet sent us breakdowns of everything, so we knew exactly what we were paying for and how much, which is very helpful! The day of our wedding, it wasn't Mehmet doing the cooking. It was a different cook that I had never met before. During the reception, I noticed (as well as our friends and family) that each platter that was brought out was so small and barely had enough food to serve 3/4 of each table (each round table sat 10 people). Though they asked for more food as the platter didn't have enough food on them, some people got more food and other people's requests were just ignored. My parents bought at least 20lbs of roast pork and several quarts of cooked white rice to also serve during the reception, as that is 1 of the traditional foods that you eat at a Chinese wedding banquet and CFC doesn't make that. A few days after the wedding, my parents told me that when the roast pork was served, only 10 pieces of pork were served to each table, which clearly is NOT enough and unsatisfying. When my parents asked for more pork to be served, the staff told them that there was no more pork (which is pretty hard to believe, as they spent over $300 on the pork and rice). Not sure where the disconnect was but we are grateful that they allowed us to bring in outside food and they did not charge us for that. They were very flexible with that. Another pro is that even though CFC is not familiar with cooking Chinese food, they were stil able to adapt and learn about what goes into it. I wanted a Chinese vegetable served (choy sum) and that's not a typical vegetable you would find at any normal supermarket. At the tasting, I gave them a sample of what the vegetable looks and tastes like and Mehmet was able to find the exact vegetable and cooked it very well at the wedding. Although my husband and I barely ate that night, the few bites of food we had were good. The staff was very attentive and made sure our glasses were full. CFC is affordable and can customize the menu to your taste and ideas. I would not recommend family style but if they work on that, it can have the potential to be great. read more

We had our wedding that past Monday (10/10/16) , althought we have been working with Mehmet since February to organize our wedding catering and rentals. The team were professional, responsive, and a great value. All emails were answered within 24-48 hours, sometimes faster (if it's the weekend they're probably working an event so you shouldn't expect a response within hours, which I totally understand). When we began organizing our wedding we were living in SF and Mehmet was kind enough to jump on facetime/Skype to review the menu/service options. Immediately we know we had picked a great company. Closer to the event, about a month out, Mehmet traveled to our apartment on the UES NYC to give us a sample tasking of the food, it was delicious! I had taken it upon myself to do all table decorations and lighting, which was a little stressful, however, Mehmet suggested that I simply set up one table and he and his team would do the rest and replicate it....they did a GREAT job! Mehmet came to our apartment for a tasing which helped us sample a variety of menu options. Both Mehmet and Michelle were extremely responsive and accommodating during the entire process - they let us stop by a second time to try additional items when we couldn't decide between a few options, and were very flexible for dietary restrictions among our guests. The food at our wedding was delicious - especially the mushroom ravioli - and nicely plated. Mehmet and his team did a great job overall. He worked with our crazy work and travel schedules during the planning phase. Good things first, we really liked the food. Nothing was dry (probably due to butter-power, but hey). Guests really liked the salmon, grilled asparagus, and baklava. Plus, budget friendly for the area (~$75 per person for entrees, desserts, ice, and labor ONLY, not including rentals, drinks, coffee service, cake, etc). Lastly, they had no problem plating just our dinner during cocktail hour, so we could eat before the guests. We ended up not getting the rentals from him because I heard from other people that the quality could be a hit or miss and we already had someone we use. Maybe that's why - we ordered exactly what Mehmet told us, but there were mishaps (not having plates and utensils for staff, so other staff complained to the groom, and he had to look for them during the reception -- NOT okay). Also some guests told us that the sides they wanted ran out 3/4th way through/didn't get enough food, which frankly is embarrassing for us :( The buffet was staffed -- most of our friends are petite/not teenage boys -- portioning in the beginning was screwed up or just didn't make enough food. Also, there was a confusion over the vegetarian entree. Though, they served an extra dessert, which could've been a generous plus, except I had told them I was bringing that specific item from a specialty store... Overall, Mehmet and his team got the job done. They did minor setups, served food, and cleaned up as contracted. Some things weren't ideal, but I think the job was harder because ours wasn't at a conventional venue -- I can't say everything was perfect, because it wasn't, but it was more than good. We hired creative foods catering for our brooklyn May 2017 wedding and I couldn't be happier with them! Mehmet came to our home for our food tasting and cooked us an amazing meal. He wasn't pushy or rude about booking.. which was a problem I had with other caterers I spoke to. The prices were reasonable and the food was fantastic so we decided to go with CFC. They literally exceeded all expectations. They worked with us on changing the menu. We decided we wanted a taco station instead of a fruit/cheese station and it was awesome. My husband and I got so many compliments about the tacos. Everyone also raved about the mini burgers, steak, churros etc. everyone said the food was great (even vegetarian meals) no one left hungry. Dessert shooters and churros are a must!! They set up the room perfectly. Mehmet and Michelle were also super responsive with last minute changes. I would definitely book them for your wedding. We had a semi-complicated DIY set up going for the tables, and they pulled it off perfectly. And the food was great. Creative Foods Catering was everything we wanted in a wedding caterer! When we first got engaged I couldn't believe the prices most vendors charged (especially in the NY metro area). But CFC offers much more reasonable prices and the food, service, and presentation are absolutely fantastic. Mehmet listened to all our ideas and created a lovely tasting for us at my parents' house, serving full meals to all 4 of us. My dad used to be a chef at the Four Seasons and he's a super tough critic, but even he raved about CFC's creamy mushroom ravioli and perfectly cooked steak. (By the way, CFC is also very unique in that if you choose a plated meal, every guest gets TWO entrees, a veggie side, and a starch side. Perfect option if you can't make up your mind between all the yummy dishes.) Once we booked CFC, Mehmet, Michelle and team were great planning partners. They always responded to emails quickly and offered solutions with our best interests in mind. They were completely fine with us providing our own liquor and bartenders to cut costs, and still stocked the bar with full glassware at no extra charge. They also let us cut back by skipping the dessert portion (my family provided various cakes). They are super flexible and are there to help you create whatever event you envision, so definitely talk to them about tweaking things to fit your budget and vision. Also about a month before the wedding we decided to add a vegan meal option (since our vegetarian option contained cheese) and it was no problem at all. CFC happily let us offer all 3 meal options to guests, we just had to let them know which tables required which meals. The day of the wedding everything looked absolutely beautiful and guests loved the food! One of our friends ate so much at the cocktail hour he said he didn't have any room for dinner, all the hors d'oeuvres were so good. And Mehmet made sure to personally check in with us throughout the night to see if there was anything we needed. The only thing that might have been a negative was that after we had eaten and were going around talking to different tables, some guests hadn't received their meals yet while others were finished eating. But this might be a normal wedding situation, especially with a relatively large guest list. Overall we are incredibly happy we booked Creative Foods Catering. They were complete professionals and have so much experience that they can easily adapt to any scenario and offer helpful guidance. Our food was amazing and our guests were so happy.
