When my dad passed away, he was away from home so I wasn't sure what to do and then I remembered Neptune. I called them as I was traveling to get there. They took care of everything. Sam was amazing. She kept in constant contact and was so soothing to speak with. They picked up dad's body from the hospital and took him to the funeral home to be cremated. Unfortunately, there were a few hiccups with getting a death certificate and getting dad cremated while the family was still in town but that wasn't their fault. Sam was a bulldog in getting things done. She was able to send the death certificate overnight to the lawyer's office when it was ready and she was able to ship dad's ashes to me as well. Sam was very respectful and reverent the entire time. My sister and I really tried to make her laugh as much as possible too! Thanks for taking care of us.

The funeral director I was lucky enough to be assigned was Keith Clinard. His kindness and sincere caring helped me make decisions with none of the stress I expected. He guided me through all the paper work, helped me understand the process. Thinking back, I will always be grateful for the loving way I was treated first by the helper at the front desk and then by Keith. I have recommended Neptune to all my friends. 1 STAR My experience…read morewith Ball & Dodd Funeral Home was extremely disappointing and, honestly, heartbreaking. This was my father's funeral--a day my family can never get back--and there were far too many failures for me to overlook. I was never offered funeral programs/booklets, Because of that, guests were confused about the timing. When I asked why I wasn't offered programs, I was told I never brought it up. I shouldn't have to know to ask for something so basic when I'm trusting a funeral home to guide me through the process. The slideshow was another major disappointment. Only about half of the pictures I provided were used, they weren't arranged chronologically, and the editing I was promised wasn't done. The music I selected wasn't played as expected--only one song was played, leaving much of the slideshow silenr. During our service, an office phone rang loudly twice while my family was praying. Nobody answered it. It simply kept ringing. That was incredibly disrespectful during such a solemn moment. Their website also incorrectly stated that no services were being held, and even the decorations were hung sloppily. When I complained afterward, I was told staff had gotten confused because my brother had been coming in frequently with requests. That is not an acceptable explanation for so many things being overlooked. The one bright spot was Kiersten. She was genuinely kind, compassionate, and understanding, and I truly appreciate how she treated me. Unfortunately, she wasn't the person there on the day of my dad's services. My dad deserved better. My family deserved better. We trusted Ball & Dodd with one of the most important and painful days of our lives, and they failed us in ways that cannot be undone. Ball and Dodd, u really dropped the ball on this one and definately were overpaid!

When my mother passed in October we met at Hazen and Jaeger with Jack, whose demeanor changed when i asked if we could slim down the package to disclose unnecessary costs since we didn't need $300 thank you cards and another $300 guestbook. Jack left the room to talk to his manager about it and left us sitting for 25 minutes. It felt like we were buying a car. He came back and showed us the agreement signed in September that only allowed us to change the package for 30 days. So I was fine with that and ask that we proceed with the planning. Jack, obviously caught off guard, forgot about asking us the design and layout options for everything so I had to remind him to go back. His slideshow showed us an option to have "concierge" drop off of the ashes, but he had only offered to call us when they came in. Overall we spent 2 hours with somebody who didn't really seem to want to help us and I was glad when it was over. They also didn't let us preview the slideshow for the ceremony so when it arrived it came on a dvd (church said this was a first) 15 minutes before the ceremony and the church didn't have a dvd player. They also included a thumb drive of only the photos so there was none of the special music we had chosen. They also repeated 8 photos You only die once, and we really only had this chance to tribute her. On the one month anniversary of my mother's death they called my dad to ask how the service went and to pitch a funeral package to him. I thought that was pretty tactless. Two weeks later we still don't have the $275 jewelry set we ordered and God only knows whose ashes will be inside if it ever arrives. I just don't think I can trust this business anymore.
