I've been trying to do something nice for myself once a month and Balensi spa kept showing up on my instagram page lol. I scheduled myself a facial as they were booked months out for a massage on a Saturday, the only day I'm able to come in. When I was arrived , parking across the street was available and cheap. I believe I paid $1? I was offered water, tea or a mimosa while I waited on the patio which was lush with plants, my vibe for sure! [[HIGHLIGHT]]My esti was Evelyn and she was very kind and knowledgeable. She did a quick consultation and then the facial began.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've had lots of facials from when I used to work in spas and this facial was in my top 3! The attention th detail for the extractions was great! My skin actually felt clean. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Evelyn suggested a different facial from the one I originally booked and said it would be a better option for my skin. She's the expert so I agreed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We also added on the red light therapy. My skin had no problems with the facial, in fact, my skin felt so hydrated and it was so glowy afterwards! Evelyn's face massage technique was very relaxing, especially around the eye area. Unfortunately the facial had to end, but I already knew I would return. One thing I really appreciated was after the facial, there was no membership pitching or product pushing. It's annoying and really uncomfortable to be bombarded with a pitch after a relaxing service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They do have a membership which I am considering doing, but the only thing holding me back is lack of availability on Saturdays for massages.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also don't live close by which is why I need Saturday availability. But then again, the membership price is totally reasonable compared to other "envy" places. I'm sure I could make it work. There is Paid parking all around, but there's also a free parking structure a block away behind the farmers table restaurant. My massage person was perfect. Follow up - The owners review response leaves very little to desired. My conversation very clearly included a peel and the rushed oh you'll be sensitive. I even confirmed what type of peel it would be and she said glycolic. They should follow up with their staff before leaving vague responses on yelp review avoiding accountability or even trying to contact the client regarding the lack of customer service. I will keep searching for my go to spot in Chula Vista. Book well in advance spots fill up quickly. Needless to say, I had waited weeks for my service and was very excited I was really looking forward to getting pampered. Parking is ample with a lot across the street and plenty of metered street parking. I arrived 10 early and was greeted and escorted to sit in the outdoor waiting lounge and was offered water tea or a mimosa. 7 minutes past my appointment time I was finally retrieved and taken back to the treatment room. Now coming from the industry, I was extremely shocked. There was no consultation, no questions about my skin. What are your goals especially when there was a peel involved thankfully, I was already educated in it, but that certainly should have been asked. Even when I asked what type of peel, there was no more conversation even being a first time client I understand turnover in the room is important during the service time, but I could hear the technician cleaning during my service and then still finished my service before the one hour mark and we had started late. My 1 hour service ended up being 40 minutes if that. When it came time to check out the young ladies at the desk, basically said here's your total and went back to their conversation I was left feeling underwhelmed read more

Balensi is one of my go to spas. They have lots of different options to choose from and you can customize to your specific needs. The space is very serene and quiet which is exactly what you want out of a spa. There is an outdoor waiting area in the garden. It's a very cute place. They also have monthly and weekly specials which is great. However book as early as possible since they are great deals and run out of appointments quickly. Depending on the time of day parking can be tricky. read more

I had an appointment yesterday morning at 9am. I had originally booked a deep tissue, but my massage therapist Catherine was able to allow me to change it to a combination massage. It was perfect and so relaxing. Catherine did an incredible job and made me feel so comfortable. I love coming to this spa. I feel so welcomed and appreciated. Right when you arrive you are greeted and offered a beverage. I usually opt for a water and they bring it on a tray along with a Biscoff cookie. They ask that you show up 10 minutes early to your appointment. Parking is easy, there is a lot where you can go to a machine and pay or there is metered street parking that takes coins. They have a room full of beauty products for you to look and around and shop after your appointment. I normally book my appointments online. I always look forward to coming here. read more

The Balensi spa is so cute and charming. Tucked away near downtown Chula Vista. From the outside, it looks like a house but as you enter the facility, there are many little casitas that they use for treatment rooms. I was offered a robe, slippers and a locker. I had the chance to sit outside for a bit and unwind. Which was nice. They also offered me refreshments with a lil biscotti. I had the July's special of an oxygenated microdermabrasion and a 1 hour aromatherapy massage. Both treatments were so nice and relaxing. Next time I'll try the deep tissue as i felt the massage was very weak. The customer service was on point and everyone that i encountered was very kind. I have only been here once. I would say that I wasn't a 100% sold on the facial I got. I felt solely like alot of creams were applied. I'm used to a facial focused on removing blackheads and some scrubbing. Etc., The dermabrasion portion I wasn't crazy about either. I would say the ladies working here were very nice. First time coming here to Balensi Spa in Chula Vista for a facial and I couldn't be happier with my experience. Parking was no issue as there are plenty of metered parking out front, good for two hours. Even when I was done, I still had 45 minutes to spare so I walked down Farmer's Table for a quick bite afterwards. I booked the Happy Hour Spa which entails: Microdermabrasion, Hydrating and Acne Facial for $65.00. I also applied my SpaWellness $25 Egift card. Thought I should leave a "candid" review about the lack of satisfaction of this place. My very recent "past" experiences focused more on the full relaxation, treatment and massage aspects of the facial. Not just rapidly rubbing their hands over my face. Something I could do on my own. The ambiance here is serene. The hot tea and cookie is a nice touch while enjoying the small pond. The receptionist was very welcoming and kind. The entire spa is beautifully decorated from the patio, the courtyard, and the massage rooms themselves. I have received many massages and this one was the softest one I have ever received. I chose the happy hour aromatherapy massage. It was more like a body rub rather than a massage. On a scale from 1-10, 10 being hard and 1 being a tickle I would rate the pressure a 4... [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was driving on my way in when I was told that appointment had been taken on line.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As an alternative solution to extend the use of the groupon,they refused to accept the groupon late without paying the difference for the service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner did not call me back as requested and when I called to speak to him, he was not sympathetic or flexible when I explained my extenuating circumstance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If their business is so hard up they offer groupons, then they make it difficult to redeem tbem, maybe they shouldn't offer them. read more

I had my first massage today here for 90 mins. My wife booked this for my birthday early. What a great surprise when I arrived it's so Zen with running water in front and in the back and relaxing. Its so quaint and you have parties here with friends too. I didn't have my phone to take picture but next time. I was paired with precious she was wonderful helped with my shoulders and back it was heavenly. That 90 min was so relaxing and she has a great touch on muscles. An urban oasis in an older area of Chula hidden away behind beautiful iron gates. Peaceful spa music is flowing, you are greeted upon arrival and offered teas or water and a cookie, and the seating area has a waterfall and fire pit. The lounge chairs are complete with freshly rolled blankets for your comfort. I tried the Aveda chakra balancing massage. It was a fun experience. I was led through a selection process and ended up focusing on the Green (4) chakra. To say I was able to feel the good healing intentions of the massesuse is an understatement. I came in today for semi-permanent eyebrow makeup for the first time in my life. The procedure went well, and I'm hopeful that in 10 days my brows will look great. The Balensi website, and Jean-Michel himself to me, state that "The initial treatment requires two treatments approximately 2-3 weeks apart." [[HIGHLIGHT]]I am beyond disappointed that my follow up appointment is scheduled for 7 months away because "there are no other openings."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is not what Jean-Michel told me, he said I would have a follow up in a few weeks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The fact that I was taken today and it was known that there was no opportunity for a reasonable follow up timeline should have been shared with me before I agreed to the treatment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is unacceptable and unprofessional. I am a first time client for semi- permanent make up, I don't know what to expect as I'm healing, but I do know that I expect Jean-Michel and Balensi Spa to honor their commitments as stated on the website and verbally. They text me two weeks before and tell me I need to rebook on a different date to get the deal. Checking with front desk for other appointments on a different date, they would not have any! Yesterday was my first experience at Balensi. I went in for the happy hour aromatherapy massage service. I have been going through every stressor you can imagine, which made me a little late, and as you can imagine, I needed the massage. Jannel was able to get all of the massage in, despite my tardiness and I still didn't feel rushed. She made me feel comfortable, listened to, and very relaxed. I walked out of the massage with tons of tension released and almost feeling like a new person. Of course all my stressors didn't go away, but for that hour, it felt like they did. The tea/water, cookie and mints were really nice touches too. Not only was the massage great - but the place is so cute. The massage was in a private bungalow style room and while small, the atmosphere is zen garden. I loved the little store and the service from everyone. Also, there is a huge lot across the street that takes credit card (the meters on the street don't) that is only 25 cents per hour. Right when you walk in you feel the relaxing ambience, they put you in a relaxing mood right from the beginning, offering you a great selection of teas (I love the lemon orange) while you wait for your esthetician or masseuse to arrive.
