It's a small grocery with an incredible cheese selection. Good deli as well. Theres also a very nice bakery.

I'm really only reviewing the workers here. The food is overpriced but never had a huge let down, except the coffee beans once. But the workers really work hard and how I heard one being talked to..Whoa-- I almost said something to that awful customer. And later when the worker waited on me, he was so kind. I really hand it to them. I can't imagine the rude treatment they can receive from people.. Especially in this land of me-me-me. You're all wonderful, Balducci's workers. Thank you. read more

Love it! Their produce is so fresh...great selection of quality brands. I love the prepared roasted turkey and the chicken quesadillas. Made moving to Greenwich an absolute delight. This Balducci's is sadly very not customer friendly. I am writing this review after at least my 25th visit experiencing this situation over and over again. Expect to wait at least 10 minutes to get acknowledged that you are even standing at the deli counter. That is despite that there are 3-4 people behind the counter. Then, anyone is in front of you- add 10 minutes because only one of the people will help customers (usually). When you finally get your meat / cheese, it is not sliced nicely- it is falling apart. So you don't get thr clean slices. I know it is hard to get good labor, but they also close the counter for deli 3 hours (5pm) before they close the store (8pm). So if you have a job and can't get there before 5, forget about heading tho thr deli counter. I drive an extra 15 minutes each way out of my way to go to thr Rue store whenever possible. They are heads and tails above and will serve you with a smile, and quickly, through 7:45pm read more

Balduccis in Greenwich has really gone downhill! Today they have no regular cases of water. Last week the cheese isle was nearly bare. Sliced almonds were out of stock for nearly 6 months. Last Thanksgiving, the produce shelves were half bare!! Whoever has managed this store over the past few years not doing a good job at all! read more

I am disappointed in the additives in the prepared foods. At a high end place like Balducci's, I was surprised to find high fructose corn syrup in the pasta salad and flour in the sautéed spinach. These items are marketed as homemade. If they were in a box or bag from a third party, then I wouldn't be surprised. I am skeptical of all the products there and will shop elsewhere. read more

I'm writing this on behalf of my wife who purchased a "fresh salsa" container for roughly $8 to bring back to New York. She was excited to eat it the next day, but the salsa was completely spoiled! For a grocery store charging ridiculous prices for semi-premium food (many of the items can be purchased at cheaper organic stores or even regular supermarkets), this is completely unacceptable. Buyers beware and don't assume their food is perfectly fresh just because they charge a premium for it. read more

I come here religiously and I loved their fruit - until today. I go for a late night snack, and lo and behold! There's a caterpillar in our fruit. Dead, too. Disgusting. I wonder if we'll get some sort of refund or something, but we spent well over $40 in just fruit from them, and now I can't even touch it. I have to throw away ALL my fruit. This never happens with other fruit that we've gotten at other stores.... Very disappointed, especially for the price point. This place is expensive, and I'm not too thrilled with finding bugs in my produce. It happens, but really? What am I paying such a hefty price for? Stick to other places with a lower price point. It's not worth it getting your fruit here, and it seems like they don't even wash their produce. Again, for this price point, they SHOULD be washing their pre-prepared fruit. Poor management. The sandwiches are boring and bland. Careful if you get one that says "avacado". They barely put any on it; they just push it to the front of the packaging to look like there is a lot. The staff is rude and lazy, too. Everything is just overpriced for such mediocre food. Unfortunately, for those of us in the area it's our only option for lunchfare. I wish they would step up their game or at least lower their prices. I was pretty nonplussed by this place. While it seems on the surface to be a natural/organic/locally-sourced type of place, instead of having actual high quality produce and deli offerings, much of their stuff is sold under the vague, undefined "natural" designation. Shoprite or Stop & Shop just a couple miles up Post Road are better bets for selection, quality, and value. It's kind of like a half-assed miniature Whole Foods; with Whole Foods prices but without the actual organic offerings. A great place for Greenwich yuppies to spend their money, though! I don't really post reviews but I was so upset with my experience so I am going to post one. I bought some crunchy salad from the packed foods and it tasted and smelled horrible. I did not notice the expiration date when I bought it because I was in a hurry. It was already few days expired! Haven't been back at the store since. I don't know if that's just a mistake or if they always leave expired foods to be sold. Check the dates carefully before you buy something! read more

I have a love/hate relationship with Balducci's. I love their options that you can't seem to find anywhere else. I love their selection of fruits and vegetables and their sushi is unbelievably delicious. I also love their prepared food section and they are the only place I've ever been able to find Portuguese rolls. With that said their prices irk me and the quality of the organic produce can be disappointing. For the price that I pay I should never find dead bugs in my food, but this has happened before. I keep going back because the staff is extremely friendly and always so helpful and as I mentioned previously there are hard to find items that can't be found at Stop N' Shop or Trader Joe's. I love this place. The quality of all the food, care in preparation and overall presentation is beyond expectation. It's a little bit pricey but that's to be expected at this level of quality. Just ordered sandwiches. Counter person could not have moved slower with less enthusiasm. Made the Italian sandwich with mayo that's not on menus and ignored my request for hot peppers. The roast beef we ordered they used the butt end to make as dry as possible and did not put horseradish on or greens as advertised. Managers should be embarrassed. Prices are absurd and the food doesn't justify it. $5 for a lemon bar? That's higher than the best bakeries in NYC. Whole Foods down the street charges $1.95. Oh--and theirs is better. All of the baked goods are this overpriced. Similarly, Balducci's prepared food will cost you more than what you'd pay at an upscale sit-down restaurant--except it's not very good, and you get no service in exchange for the high prices. I only ever come here for a few specialty items not available anywhere else. Once Citarella opens on the other side of town, I will be able to get them there and will thankfully stop coming altogether. If at all possible, avoid. When you're making Whole Foods and takeout places like Aux Delices look like bargains, and you offer inferior quality, you're doing something horribly wrong. read more

Ordered the Chicken Parmesan Hot Buffet for Christmas dinner; at our request, Balduccis packed it cold for Christmas Eve pickup at the Riverside CT store so it could be heated up the next day. The meal was delicious and portions were plentiful (served four for Christmas dinner with enough left for next day). Customer service was really helpful and made things very easy for our parents to pick up the meal, and just heat and serve. Thank you so much! read more

Looks like a gourmet place but the food quality is pretty crappy. I ordered a chx soup and what I found in there were pieces after pieces of gluten parading as meat! It was overpriced and disgusting. The sandwiches were flat and tiny. I'd never go back there again if I can help it. read more

This is a quaint little market that has everything from pastries, pasta, produce, coffee, and prepared meals. I picked up some cute lil gifts for co-workers like honey roasted peanuts (which were terrific!), etc. I tried some of their cheesecake, which was good. Hell will have to freeze over before I ever shop in this market again... The management is unprofessional and disparaging to say the least. My son applied for a job at this market. The one day that he was unavailable to come in for 10 minutes and fill out necessary paperwork for the position, the manager was rude towards him... When my son followed back up with him to arrange an alternate date to come in, the manager said "you're the little boy who was too busy the last time to fill it out". My son, instead of stooping to his level, apologized and said he was available the following day to fill out the paperwork. The manager replied, "I'm not". This was after a multitude of phone calls and drop ins on my son's part to pursue the position to show a level of accountability and eagerness for the job. ONE day that he wasn't available to sit down for 10 minutes to fill out paperwork is what the manager was judging him on. ONE day out of the many days that he's been free and hounding them. Who needs an employer like that?! I will never shop there again. It's WAY overpriced and the quality is subpar. If you're looking for a job and a work environment that is pleasant and kind... Run in the opposite direction of Balducci's! There are plenty of other places in town that my money is better served at! read more
