I always wondered why the original Village Foods didn't simply carry only organics, gluten-free…read morefoods, and other natural health stuff--that was the only reason I ever went there, for those kind of things--so I'm really glad to see that they've finally owned that specialty. You can find a lot of great products here, but the only reason I'm docking a star is for the checkout line. I've been in 2-3 times now, and every time I get stuck behind someone who happens to know (who I presume to be?) the owner or pharmacist, and they wind up talking for quite a while, and I'm just standing there, trying to buy only a few specialty items I made a specific trek across town to get, waiting. The owner/pharmacist seems like a sweetheart who is clearly loved by and a friend to a lot of people, but....I sort of wish there was a line for people who want to chat, and people who just want to buy their kombucha and bottle of supplements and leave, haha. Anyway, they've only been open in this new location for a month or two, so I'm sure they'll work this out, but otherwise it's a great store and one to check out, especially if you're looking for a myriad of gluten-free options! *UPDATE* They fixed the checkout line issue, and they're still friendly and stocking good products, so I'll give them that fifth star :).

Two women were kind enough to ask if they could help me find anything. Thank you! When I went to buy some sauerkraut-type vegetables in a jar, there was black fuzzy mold, like, the bad kind, all over the container. I told the guy about it but I got the feeling they'll just wipe it off and return it to the shelf....

We walked in and had to think twice because it felt like you walked into GNC or some kind of fitness nutritional store. They sell protein powder, energy drinks and bars, etc. on top of smoothies that are design for your specific needs such as muscle building, recovery, vegan plant based, etc. We ordered the Angel Food (geared towards a strawberry smoothie and really delicious too) and the Apple Kiwi Kale (more on the apple juice tasting, but also very flavorful and delicious). We will definitely be back to try the other flavors. They have a huge menu with so much delicious sounding choices. It's a bit pricey for a drink in general, but I think it's worth it when it comes to these types of healthy drinks and the size of the cups are huge. Literally, a meal in itself. The staff are fast and friendly. Small parking lot and no areas to sit....more of a grab and go type joint. Next to HEB College Station.

This market has almost everything you would need to make most Asian food recipes. You will find lots of products that you cannot find at local chain grocery stores, including fresh produce items. Sadly, the store is not very clean, the lighting is dim, and the aisles often have boxes of product in them making it difficult to navigate. The prices are not clearly posted. There is product in the store that is expired, so be sure to check expiration dates. The staff, though limited in the English language, are always friendly. I will continue to shop this store because of the unique products they carry and my need for these products to make Asian food recipes that I really enjoy eating.
