I…read morewon't go into the details but in short there was a mistake made at the patisserie and the length the owner went to correct it was very admirable and UNHEARD of in Amsterdam. Good customer service is a commodity in this town so I had to look into this place... As a result of the mistake and the story of it's correction, I'd consider myself now to be a Tout regular. I buy the macaroons as gifts for people, I use them to impress my bosses and let's be honest, I cheekily gift them to myself as well. :) I also took part in the macaroon workshop which was great! My only complaint here was that we weren't able to do everything ourselves but due to the nature of macaroons, it would need to be a pretty long workshop (try 3 days!). The price of the workshop might seem steep (I think 60 euros) but I came out of there with almost 2 full boxes of mini macaroons so it's totally worth it if you ask me - not to mention the afternoon of educational fun and the owner is his own brand of eye-candy... :P

My group came here a second day because it was walking distance to the conference and the food and…read moredrinks were solid. My friends enjoyed the toastie (which is like a grilled cheese) as well as the omelette crepe. I had to get the goat cheese honey sandwich a second time because it was so good. The iced latte was also incredible - the ice was crushed enough that it almost had the texture of a coffee slurpee. Service was quick despite the place being packed. There is a handful of tables inside and some outdoor seating as well. Pay at the register.

For the British readers of this review, rejoice!! @7 serves scones with clotted cream, and they are tastier than a Dutch lady in Birkenstocks having a cigarette on a terrace while shouting orders to her partner on the things he needs to buy when he goes shopping. @7 is well lit. Which is very handy as you can play a game of 'who's had a botox top up and who is natural.' Apart from the aforementioned scones, they also do a pretty good club sandwich and a good selection of smoothies. They also know the difference between a Latte Macchiato and a Koffie Verkeerd, which sadly a lot of places in Amsterdam do not. (Yes I'm talking about you C&T) It's well worth hanging out there, especially if you love people watching. It's like being part of a wildlife documentary spotting the different kinds of species that enter. 1. The glamorous older woman with a tiny little lapdog that looks embarrassed to be seen with her. 2. The spoilt daddy's girl whose smartphone is in a Chanel case, and who wears dark glasses indoors even though the place is a brightly lit as a red light district window. She also makes a big show of where to rest her Louis Vuitton or Michael Kors handbag. 3. The happy divorcee, spending the afternoon getting slightly sozzled drinking prosecco from the proceeds of the divorce settlement. Happy days. I go for the scones, but keep going back to watch the people. Een aanrader!

They have their own bakery and are situated in a lovely old barn house with a big garden for some play time. The staff was nice enough. Food was good, but not through-the-roof special. We came for lunch. I had the tuna burger, our friends had salads, omelets and friend shrimp rolls. (what's the term for "kroketten" in English? Crockets?) It was good and tasty but not very special. We came back later for some drinks and the serving girls were a little rude to us. I asked if we could sit anywhere, and she'd say yes, even when a table was reserved. Her colleague appeared later and scolded us for sitting at a reserved table. I tried to explain that her colleague told us it was ok and made some joke about something and they both kind of reacted sour to us. Maybe they had a tough day, but hey, it wasn't our fault was it? And there was plenty of seating still left, we only wanted a drink and play a game, so we would be gone in time before dinner anyway. That kind of dampend the whole experience. I would like to try out their evening menu though. Hope the girls are a little more in a good mood that day ;) maybe pregnant ladies piss them off, I have no idea :D The play yard is nice though. They don't serve there, but they have a tiny take away place for ice scream and fries, which worked fine for us!

Santpoort is a wonderful environment to embrace nature and Dutch culture. I did not have the pleasure of attending this event, but here is a nice link to check out.
