Didn't know that an Italian combo was just Ham and Cheese. Very disappointed, they should at least advertise the sandwich as such.

It'll be at two stars very soon... with the price Increases and the smaller size sandwiches ...if you can believe that.... Bacon egg and cheese with a hash brown on a hard roll $11!!!!!!!!!!! read more

If you like Taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwiches DO NOT go here. I put the one slice of Taylor ham that was on the sandwich on today's newspaper and was able to read the paper through it. It was the thinnest slice of TH ever. I didn't know slicing machines could cut that thin. DO NOT WASTE YOUR hard earned $$$ at this place. I'm sorry I had to give them any stars. read more

Best bagels on the island. If you want to match your Jersey/New York caliber of bagels, go to BB. They are perfectly crusted on the outside and buoyant on the inside. Perfect size, nice and big. You get that nice crunch when you initially cut into it and then give as you continue to cut because the bread is so perfectly airy. We freeze them and even at the end of the summer once their defrosted you get the same deliciousness as if they were fresh. The place is kind of dirty and if you go past 8:00 am be prepared for long long lines, but it's worth it! There is another bagel shop in Lavalette which is owned by the same person so you don't have to travel to seaside to get these bagels. read more

ORTLEY PIZZA (which is party of Bakin' Bagels) The subs are delicious the bread they use is very very delicious. My only issue I have is the staff needs to wear plastic gloves when making the sandwiches. I only saw one out of the 8 of them working back there wearing the gloves. They have duel rolls when they work there. They take the money and they make the sandwiches. * I saw workers handle the cash and make sandwiches without washing hands or wearing gloves. * I saw a girl touch her long hair (like pulling it behind her head) and then continue on to make sandwiches. Lastly which grossed me out. I was lucky to not have her make my sandwich... * I saw one girl on her iPhone touching the screen WHILE making a sandwich (not taking just probably checking text messages). Now we all know what studies show are on our iPhones/smart phones. Human feces. That right there should not be allowed. If the owner had an email address on his menus I would have sent a private message rather then post it on Yelp. But I feel people needed to know. Considering that the general vibe of this town is "LOL COViD is a hoax Trump 2020," I was not even a little surprised that every worker behind the counter was wearing their mask as a necklace - at best. But when they started putting lox on my bagel with their bare hands - a gross health violation even if we weren't in a pandemic - I got right outta there. Apparently local folks have been reporting them to the board of health but literally no one cares. Go at your own risk. read more

Didn't care for the breakfast sandwich I got. Pork roll, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. The bagel wasn't very good, and the sandwich was super skimpy. A couple slices of pork roll which could have been heated more, one egg, and a slice of cheese. Disappointing for the price. I think it was around $8. Coffee wasn't great either. The service was questionable, the girl at the counter seemed easily confused. First and last time for us here, there has to be better in the area. read more

Come on...girl at counter grabbing bagels with her bare hands that she just handled money with. Oh and mask down below her nose. The hands thing is gross without covid. read more

the bagels are good! The butter this morning was bad Tasted stale. The people are very rude. The place is filthy and they don't use gloves. I didn't mind paying their extremely high prices to get a good bagel but I'm done. I'll never go back there again. read more

Excellent bagels even in the off season! Crusty on the outside and doughy on the inside plus a good schmear of cream cheese. Employees are always friendly and this location is spotless. Its a solid spot for locals and vacationers, no matter the season! read more

Standing inside right now. Extremely rude staff, especially the older woman with the brown hair. It's too bad since they have very good bagels. But not how anyone should be treated in the morning, especially when it comes to customer service. And to then get home and the entire order is wrong ... only ordered 4 bagels, so shouldn't have been that difficult. read more

I live right around the corner from this place but I hesitate to go because you never know what you're going to get. They run out of things constantly (for example this morning there were no poppy or sesame bagels left at 9am). What really gets me is they don't toast your bagel unless you specifically ask. And even if you do ask if there are more than a few people in line they will refuse to do it to save themselves time. To me there is a BIG difference between a toasted bagel and an untoasted one. They really need to add one or two staff members to speed up their service and just get rid of this no-toasting policy. However, if you hit it right and they have what you want and the line is short enough, the bagels and sandwiches are decent. You're just taking your chances... Also this place DOES NOT sell pizza. I don't know why they have that on the name. It's only bagels, sandwiches, and wraps. read more

Shit bagels wish I could rate 0 stars. Asked for a toasted bagel and they said it couldn't be done then gave my girlfriends bagel toasted when she asked for it regular. Get your shit together if you wanna call yourself a bagel shop. read more

It's a shame I used to love coming here, but the staff is the last time you'll see me. The lady with the tattoo of a kids drawing of a sun on her right arm and some bat tattoos on the other should never be permitted to speak to a customer again, no matter the field she's in. Most likely would fit in cleaning toilets because her mouth is trash. Over 30 minutes for 2 plain slices so I ask what is going on & she says it will be 10 minutes, I simply said but you said that 20 minutes ago ? The b**** response after I got was "what do you want to do? I'm not making the pizza, do you want a refund? It be quicker to get your money back he said 10 more minutes." Are you out of your mind ? Lol a lifelong customer asks a question and that's how quick you are to get me out? The best part is after managing to wait another 15 minutes it does finally come out. But, after seeing the other counter girl fail 5 times to cut the pizza hands all over it & the oven guy sweating his balls off also touching the pizza, it being 100 degrees in there I totally lost my appetite & got my money back. I also ended up somehow getting an extra dollar back in change & part of the staff to agree this lady has a stick up her ass and has got to go if you want to keep anyone coming back. read more

The food is adequate, but the service is extremely slow. It took just over 30 minutes to get 12 sandwiches made. Not acceptable.

I ordered the 2 Large Pizza and a coke for $19.99. It was very tasty and decent portion. I also orders a prosciutto di parma sandwich with mozzarella and peppers. It was excellent but not worth $9.99. If it has been priced the same as the Italian sandwich they sell ($6.99), they would have gotten 4 stars. The service is a bit slow but at least the are polite. read more

My friends and I came here a few days ago for the first time since last summer. From the moment we stepped inside we should have walked right back out. There was no social distancing guidelines in place, and we saw two customers come in without a mask and were not told to leave. Employees were not wearing masks, or wore them below their nose (that doesn't count!!!). The business wasn't following proper sanitation rules either. We did end up ordering but walked out two minutes later without our food after feeling extremely uncomfortable after seeing all of these things. read more

This place takes wayyyyy to long, me and my friends waited over an hour just to get bagels. Asked about it three times and they're response was that they were getting to it every time. After receiving the bagel they toasted it to the point where it was rock solid and you couldn't bite into it. I'm very disappointed at a place with such high reviews. read more

After growing up in Jersey, I now live in Philadelphia where the bagels ARE AWFUL. Such a nice treat to come here and eat a good bagel for a buck! read more

They have two locations one in ortley and one in North Lavallette and no one should patronize either one until they clean up their act. They are allowing people in without masks and the workers are not wearing masks or gloves. I don't want to call the Board of Health but they're making it difficult not to. There were two posts on Yelp about the north Lavallette location from a week ago and they still haven't been corrected. Somebody told me they mentioned it to management and was not to worry about it read more

WAY overpriced!!! $4.60 plus tax for a Taylor Ham, Egg n Cheese sandwich and only two slices of Taylor Ham??? I could barely taste the Taylor Ham!!! And almost $3.00 for a small box of Tropicana OJ??? $7.98 total for a breakfast I can get for under $5.00 elsewhere! I was shocked and I will not be going back!!! read more

I thought the bagels here were ok. The breakfast sandwiches are a little skimpy for the price and the coffee is pretty lousy. The breakfast sandwich was good, just skimpy. The kids working here are also not the friendliest but in all honesty if I had to deal with what they deal with I would be cranky too. I haven't ventured out anywhere else to try greasy breakfast sandwiches so this may be the best in the area for all I know. read more

Ripped off. Ordered 2 ham and cheese bagels. Listed on the menu at $4.65. Was asked if I wanted pork roll or deli ham. I chose deli ham. No mention that it would be extra or any discussion at all. When he charged me out they rang up at $6.75 each. I told him there must be a mistake since the listed price was 4.65. He told me it was more for deli ham when I said he should have told me that initially, he was very rude. I ended up taking the bagels since I also had had to wait a really long time and needed to be somewhere with them. They were very average. Could have gotten a much better meal at the same price, or even a better one at mcDonalds cheaper. And without the attitude. Avoid this place if you don't want to be ripped off. read more

Good sandwiches but Jesus they need to get it together. They're very slow & very unorganized. The staff seem easily overwhelmed when a line forms-which does often. It takes forever to get your food. Not worth the aggravation to be honest. A jersey mikes opened across the street. If they don't get it together, I'm sure it will take most of their business. The staff seems to be comprised of a couple people who have never worked in the food service industry before. Hopefully they can get someone with experience or a manager in there to help correct the problem. read more

Pretty good bagel shop/Italian deli. Deli is much better than their bagels though, go figure. Everything we bought from the deli was delicious and fresh! We were all slightly taken aback when they refused to toast our bagels. What bagel shop refuses to toast bagels?! read more

When walking in you are greated with a big sign that promotes cheeseburgers and meatball subs. I order 2 meatball subs they came in over an whelming large wedge that made it look like I had just received a bread sandwich but upon inspection and dissection there seemed to be a meatball between the bread. 3 microwave reheated meatballs no cheese and sauce that was probably applicator by a eye dropper. I had to ask for extra sauce to give this terrible sandwich some flavor and when I asked for some the rude lady gave me a look as if I had 4 heads. I looked around for a name on this building so I could give this place a terrible review and could not even be sure as to what it was since the building itself says 3 different names and a sign displaying bland specials outside had one more name. I bad service bad food compared to what you could have. read more

What kind of bagel place doesn't toast their bagels (when there is a line)?! I have been to bagel shops with the line out the door and they are still able to toast bagels and keep the line moving so you aren't waiting too long. On top of this, I had friends visiting who went to Bakin Bagels and told me they were yelled at rudely by the staff! read more

Great bagels! My husband is a Brooklyn guy, so he knows good bagels! Whenever we visit my parents in Ortley, we get Bakin Bagels. My friend Bills loves this place but i prefer a well done bagel personally and the store wasn't as clean as ide hoped.

I went here twice this year because I stayed in New jersey for 4 days. The first time I went it took them forever to make 3 egg sandwiches. The 2nd time I went we asked for the same thing. We had to tell them atleast 4-5 times our order before they actually made it. It was also a long wait at a not so crowded time. I was with a few other people and one of them also ordered a bacon egg and cheese and they put ham on it instead of tomatoes. He asked for a new one because they made a mistake. The new one he got was also wrong but he still ate it because who would want to wait in line AGAIN. The egg sandwiches were good though and I enjoyed them, I've tasted better but they were good enough. Also this place is pretty expensive for what you get. I will return since it is the closest deli to where I usually stay in New Jersey but these complaints have to be solved please. read more

Long wait for bacon and egg on bagel. Had to ask twice for coffee. Lady at counter was resistant to let me fix my coffee. Kept telling me she would do it and then finally relented and let me do so. WHY??? If I'm paying, why not??? Waited 20 min for sandwich and eggs and bacon were overdone and cold. Bagel was OK. My friend ordered lox cream cheese spread on her bagel and you needed a magnifying glass to see lox. Both sandwiches were overpriced. Won't be back. I'm sure we'll find better bagels to enjoy. read more

I normally stop in here for bagels but this may be my last time. The blond woman at the counter was rude - she handed me two coffees but couldn't distinguish between the two so she just handed me two identical coffees, she gave me the wrong bagels and I had to ask for my sandwich that I could see was sitting on the back counter. Just to prove how clueless this woman was, she couldn't remember ringing up the person behind me - she had no idea who the woman was. Get your act together people! read more
