I have no idea why this place is popular. Perhaps it is the boat outside. The bacon, egg, and cheese bagel was disgusting. It was lukewarm, had one highly processed Kraft American cheese slice on it, bacon that was more fat than meat, and a tiny bit of egg. Appetite was off for half a day after I had it. Oh and it was $9. It was fast since they had it already wrapped and sitting on a shelf like fast food. A fast food place would be so much better and less expensive. read more

The woman working the register was a piece of work! The food was okay but for the prices it was absurd. The outside area is nice but I will NOT be returning. It also gave me the worst food poisoning of my life. I had a 15 minute car drive back to my house from this place and shit myself 7 minutes into the drive. Be careful of their eggs. read more

I ordered a chicken Caesar wrap and specifically asked for breaded chicken. The chicken I received looked and tasted like it had been sitting around for days and then reheated. It was extremely dry and stringy, and parts of the meat were actually translucent. I couldn't even finish the wrap because the chicken looked so unappetizing and questionable. Really disappointing, especially for something as simple as a chicken Caesar wrap. read more

My mother-in-law booked Bakin Bagels to cater our post-wedding brunch in September 2025, and we were so thrilled! The food was delicious - selection of bagels and spreads, hot bagel breakfast sandwiches, plus they brought large carafes of coffee and all the things to go with. It was perfect for our guests who stopped by before hitting the road - they could take a bagel and coffee to go. Thank you!!! read more

Maybe the cheapest breakfast sandwich I have ever bought . One egg one sausage on a bagel One egg pile of burnt crumbled bacon on a bagel . Was disgusting , place is as dirty as it gets lucky the drunk kids are hungry in the summer or they would not last Just awful food . They should be ashamed of the product they put out read more

Quite possibly the worst establishment on the Jersey Shore. I've been maybe 10 times and have gotten an attitude every single time. All the workers are miserable, the prices are insane and the quality is the worst of it all. We go out of our way to avoid this place. read more

After participating in the NJSPBA Polar Bear Plunge I was looking to find a Taylor Ham and Cheese on a garlic bagel. The YELP recommended place across the street was closed. I called Bakin Bagels. They said they just closed. I said no problem I have a 4 hour ride home and was looking for a sandwich. The guy, I think the owner, asked what I wanted. I told him. He said he only had plain bagels left but he would make it for me. I drove home and my wife had it for breakfast Sunday morning. It was still first rate. I had the other half this morning and it was still very good. Recommend when in the area! read more

Amazing place to visit. The workers are very nice and the food is so fresh and delicious. Great beach town bagel shop.

Consistently rude service, and the food frankly isn't good. Definitely skip this place

One of my favorite things about this place is the eclectic outdoor seating. Little ones love sitting in the boat table, and calling out to Elmo across the street. We hit this place up all year long. Great bagels, sandwiches, and his Italian specialties are great. Plus best 2fer pizza deal around. Summer staff is terrific, a great group of college kids. Off season, it's a pleasure, gets a little bumpy on those holiday weekends when out-of-towners can get testy and impatient. It really gives me a chance to pause and practice patience. So when I show up on a Labor Day or Columbus Day Weekend, I pack an extra helping of grace and peace with for the staff - they sure deserve it. read more

Placed a pickup order for 7 bagels. Not a single one of them was correct. Called back to let them know and was told to come in store and wait for them to make it right. Won't ever get my business again read more

Below average breakfast sandwich. For $7, I expect a sandwich to be loaded and this is so skimpy. There are so many places to get breakfast in this area, that I don't think it's worth going back here. It's a cute little spot, but service can be slow. Overrated in my opinion. read more

Might have been good if they'd remembered to toast my two bagels w cream cheese. Got my two untoasted bagels after people who'd been behind me got their orders first. What took so long then? Also, the coffee is just brown water. read more

I'm so surprised to see the bad reviews. I love this place! I go there for the great prepared cream cheeses and good bagel variety. The bagels are nice sized and not overcooked. The staff is nice, and accommodating. The food I've had there is very good! read more

Please, please someone open up a DECENT BAGEL STORE in Ortley!! I forget how awful this place is because I hate to come in here. The older guy (owner maybe?) has the worst customer service skills. He seemed frazzled at 7 am today with no customers there. I asked if he had whole wheat bagels...and he doesn't look up-just makes a weird hand gesture. I asked what that hand signal was...and he seemed annoyed saying "I was pointing to the bagels behind me". Oh, ok. Asked if he had flavored cream cheese because none of them were labeled. Big sigh and he starts listing them. I asked for strawberry and he keeps rambling off the rest of them. Bizarre. Bagel was hard and tasteless (again...it was 7 a.m., shouldn't they be fresh?). The roll on egg sandwich was stale. Don't get me started on the coffee. It's basically warm, colored water! Ugh. I just wasted $19. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. We were the only people in establishment when we ordered a bagel and a PEC, and waited about 30 minutes for both of them to be done. By the time we got our food, the toasted bagel was rock solid from waiting. Apart from the food, the woman behind the counter had a bad attitude and was simply unpleasant to each person who came through the door. We are locals to the area, and try to support small businesses, but we simply cannot support an establishment with such poor customer service. read more

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. They are always rude to the customers and never have a smile on their faces. The food is good but I will be going to the Lavallette location from now on. read more

Convenient location. Wait times are beyond ridiculous for sub-par food. Pork roll egg and cheese was really skimpy on the cheese and pork roll. Eggs were over cooked and burnt. Had to spit out several pieces. For their prices, they can do much better on portions and quality. Bagels were soft. Will probably avoid this place in the future which is a shame they've gone downhill. read more

My friends and I always go here after watching the sunrise in Seaside/Lavallete. Pretty decent bagels but had a few instances where my order didn't come out right (but they fixed it after telling them). Some downsides are they only take cash and the seating area outside is a little unorganized. Pluses are all of the workers are super friendly and great place to get food early in the morning. read more

Went there with my two young daughters to order breakfast. The ordering was similar to the soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld, fine. Toaster was "broken" ...fine. But after waiting 30 mins in a hot bagel store for our sandwiches, I asked politely for someone to check on my order and I got literally scolded by one of the young girls, much younger than me, for looking behind the counter when I was just waiting to hear from someone who was checking on my order. I believe her words were "yes I checked on your order. And what I mean when I say that is don't stand there and watch us." I will NEVER go to this place again, almost $30 for three bagel sandwiches and such rude employees, I actually left in tears because of this rude person. read more

Working customer service and being berated all summer I can see getting tired and upset... going in on Christmas Eve today, the guy at counter was miserable.. as a local he shouldn't be the front of the business.. he then takes 2 rolls after ringing me up and cuts them open with his hands and proceeds to tell me he has a sinus infection ... gross.. told him he was rude and could care less... place is filthy and needs new management.... I should have went to LAVA JAVA where rolls are beyond fresh double pork roll and egg..only went there cause I went to Fumosas... never again. read more

They didn't call my name so my bagel left sitting. Cream cheese was nearly solid and locks were bland. They added more but it just made it nastier. Today I had a plain bagel with cream cheese for breakfast here. Initially, I was quite excited to see that they had a sun-dried tomato cream cheese option on the menu because it sounded SO good and amazing?! Plus, I've never heard of such a thing. However, the worker told me they didn't have it, so I opted for their garlic and herbs cream cheese option, but they didn't have that either. I decided to get just plain cream cheese because of that. I did appreciate the worker's patience! The cream cheese wasn't as good as I wanted it to be- it tasted light and faint but I was looking for a more wholesome, fuller flavor. They were generous with the amount of cream cheese they spread on it, which was great because I normally use a lot! The bagel was tasty!! The outer part of it had a crust-like consistency to it and the inside was soft and thick. It was a decent size and quite filling. The shop was very busy but the line moved pretty quickly. Their ordering system was a little messy, however, but I didn't mind it. read more
