Amazing bakery, that is open at 7:00 am! Yup, and with folks like us waiting for the doors to open. Worth the wait and such nice folks who warmed up the ham and cheese and chocolate croissants for us. Highly recommend you get your baked goods warmed up. Flaky and delicious...everything looked good.

A great cafe and bakery with a huge open kitchen and split into two, bakery and cafe. The cereal bun, raisin bun and croissants are lovely and I really liked them. The coffee is also good and tasty, albeit, slightly sour. Staff are friendly and service is quick. Also a great choice of plant milk on offer. The breads look great here but haven't tried them. If their croissants are anything to go by, the bread should be great. Happily come here any day. It's a cool industrial / open roof concrete space with really nice things on offer.

Pain au chocolat, cinnamon roll

Oh so yummy. The woman behind the counter was so sweet and helped us pick our tow pastries, a pain au chocolat and their famous cinnamon roll. We then ordered coffees, and the man helping us there was equally as friendly, even though we didn't speak a lick of Dutch and were slightly confused. The pain au chocolat was wonderfully flaky and we loved the cinnamon roll as well - it wasn't too sweet and the bottom had a nice firmness that contrasted the soft and sticky upper dough. Overall everything was amazing and I would definitely suggest stopping by!

Dear tired and weary tourist, some advice the locals know: after accumulating enough "I did this, this and this points" in the city, with feet screaming at you from the long lines and tedious trudging through the Van Gogh and Anne Franke crowds--both well worth the effort I might add--treat yourself to some downtime and real Amsterdam here. It only takes one stop, one bite into their delicious bread, one sip of their espresso drinks, a bit of time in the inviting outdoor seats and you're hooked. Don't even bother trying to fight it. This place has "I want to hang out here and enjoy the day" written all over it. The people dining here are happy, engaged in conversation, enjoying their time. You can't design this kind of experience and it can't be bottled and resold at chains. It's part right venue, part hiring the right people, part mishap, an awful lot of food talent, and non-stop training and attitude. The space is just odd and awkward enough--three business fronts with walls partially removed to make one--to be endearing. Ah, but the food! The bread here is sublime. A simple sandwich with nothing more than chorizo and a bit of butter was something to marvel. How can I get one of those into my backpack for the flight back to the U.S., eschewing that horrible fare they serve on planes? A baguette to go we enjoyed bits of for several hours. The egg dishes and salads from our dining companions, so good! The espresso drinks expertly poured. The salads so beautiful and delicious we're headed there for a mid-morning brunch several public transport stops away in spite of plenty of closer options. Bakhuys makes you happy while serving you delicious food in a space you instantly adore. Get here. You'll be glad I told you so.

Caffe latte and capresse sandwich

Very nice place, well decorated with a hipster taste, coffee was tasty and completly different from the coffees I had here in Amsterdam. Capresse sandwich was good but too expensive for the size. Even thought, everything's expensive in Amsterdam! And much more for Spanish people.

Bakhuys is a new dual-purpose bakery/small market MEETS cafe/restaurant. They have a beautiful interior that is modern and has some really nice custom touches. I LOVE the feeling when you step inside. Definitely stop in for a coffee or bread if you're in the area. Their bread is incredible - such perfect bread. They have a special baking oven from Germany that is the only one in the Netherlands. I gave up my low-carb diet last night to eat some sourdough. Their macarons are nice - good selection of sweets to choose from. The restaurant just opened in late March - and the food is okay at this point, that's why I'm voting three stars. The menu is creative, so I'm hoping they can pull it off! Chili is okay, has too many beans and too thick, but I was happy to have chili around in amsterdam and appreciate the try. The burger needs some work - patty wasn't good and a bit too much sauce, so try the gnochhi or soup instead. Overall - the service was good and friendly and I will be back.

Perfect place to go for a casual breakfast or lunch. They have a nice variety of pastries, breads, sandwhiches, soups and other good stuff. Also ideal place to meet up friends for coffee or tea. Service is good. I thought they were very much customer service oriented.

Had a fantastic pain chocolate here with my cappuccino....lekkere (yummy). Huge selection of fresh baked goods including sandwiches and lunch things. Great vibe and lots of seating indoors and out front if it's not raining. Really really good choice for coffee and food.

many seats that could see through to the pizza kitchen

Really nice coffee&bakery&pizza place. Best thing is that it is open from 7 . The service people are really friendly. Coffee was mild but good, not acid not bitter, kind of in the middle place. Cappuccino is smaller than the normal size and flat white is like the size of a cappuccino. Huge space you could see through the pizza kitchen. Croissant has no sugar in it, and is a bit to the greasy but my girlfriend who hate sugar would very love it!

Great for morning brunch. Very nice place with alot of workers to help you if you don't know what to get or where you are going. Would recommend.

Ham, cheese, and honey mustard toasti

A great cafe away from the typical tourists spots. We randomly found this cafe place a block away from our airbnb. We were only able to visit once but if we visit Amsterdam again (highly likely) this is a place we will be sure to come back and visit. I ordered a café and a ham/cheese/honey mustard sandwich which was simple but prepared very well. It was also extremely affordable (which is important to me as a budget traveler). The total came to around 5$. The staff was friendly which is so important to me. As soon as I speak, I'm sure locals can easily tell that I'm American (which doesn't alway work in my favor). So I'm grateful I was able to find a place with good food, affordable place and kind people

I was thinking of picking up a few breakfast treats and came across this bakery on my way back to…read moremy hotel. The pastries caught my eye in the glass case. There were cannolis, cream puffs, cookies, donuts, cakes, macarons and there were also sandwiches and pizza type breads. We bought a cream puff with Bavian cream, a chocolate covered cream puff with the standard cream filing and a chocolate covered croissant. Everyone was happy with their purchases and I was especially happy with my cream puff with the Bavian cream. The surrounding cake was light and airy and the cream was delicious; not quite whipped cream (like American version) but like a combination of whipped cream and vanilla custard. The filling was very light and the entire pastry did not leave any heavy feeling at all. The 2 chocolate pastries were consumed without complaints. The chocolate croissant I noticed, was completely dipped in chocolate rather than a croissant that has chocolate inside. This bakery lives up to its c'est magnifique name!

My favorite place in Amsterdam missing from Yelp? I had to add you Croissanterie C'est Magnifique…read more And you are simply that: MAGNIFICENT. You have set the bar for every patisserie and croissanterie I visit from now on. MY GOODNESS. I don't even know where to start. I visited you more times than I care to admit. And each time, your fruit tartes, custard croissants, crumble cakes, and cappuccinos made me dread the day I was to leave Amsterdam. For I knew no other place would ever compare. This small, unassuming place is located smack in the middle of the bustling Leidsestraat shopping district. The glass counter houses a plethora of sweet goodness (see my pics). The same girl was there each day making coffee and running back and forth from the kitchen in the back. Pastries are made fresh multiple times a day so everything is always fresh. Once you grab your order, there is a long table with stools that runs along the right wall. The smell of ground coffee beans and fresh baked bread filled the air, and spilled onto the street making it impossible to pass by without stopping in. They are open until at least 10pm but I'm not sure of their exact hours. And they open early too. Sweet, sweet danger. I am saddened that you are so far away from me. *insert sad face here*

The counter was packed with beautiful looking, freshly baked European breakfast pastries. Two cappuccinos, two raisin snails and two little tarts stuffed with almond paste were more than enough... OK, maybe WAY more than enough than we needed! But I have a weakness for that golden brown, sweet and crunchy goodness. Yum. The young ladies who work there are charming, pleasant and efficient. My breakfast included a large glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice, toast, perfectly-cooked scrambled eggs with gouda cheese, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers, a warmed fresh pastry, and a large cappucino for about €17. This neighborhood is packed with bars, clubs, restaurants, and coffeeshops and young people who party late into the night. I think we were the first customers to show up when they opened for business at 9:00 AM on Sunday. The two girls that run it were a little bleary-eyed, but got it together for us even though the Rembrantplein was deserted at that hour like a ghost town.

I've lived in the Netherlands for 2 years so I'm very accustomed to the "it's the customer's fault" attitude but these are very clearly overbaked, almost burnt. I don't often complain or ask for a refund but I can't even eat the cookies or finish the cake. The juice however was very good. So delicious, fresh, and definitely popular since they didn't have it on days when I stopped in after 12pm. The cookies were also amazing. Tried a bunch of flavors, and every one was on point. The waffle, however, was the best thing I've eaten in Amsterdam all week. Had to go with the chocolate covered version, and it did not disappoint. The waffle was fresh, covered in powered sugar first and then amazing, rich chocolate that melted in your mouth/ hands and the combination was just divine. I will definitely be back, just for this, but next time after a long jog.
