I have been here twice. I was on a mission to try every Haitian restaurant in Philadelphia in hopes of coming across a dish that would come close to my mom's home cooking....since I won't be home until the holidays.. So far I have gone to 3 places. At Lakay, I tried the griot platter...which was pretty good. I ended up getting a large, which was $10, which came with brown rice and beans, plaintains (2-3), large portion of griot, picklis, and sauce. The griot wasn't bad. I enjoyed it...it just could have been seasoned a bit more to my liking, the portion was huge, you could definitely make more than one meal from it. The food was fresh and piping hot....had to blow on it a couple of times before I bit into it (what can I say, I am impatient). I wasn't impressed with their take on the picklis though as I have definitely had better....from the other two Haitian spots I visited. As soon as I came in, there were a couple people ahead of me. The wait was about 25 mins give or take. I had to pay cash due to their credit card machine being down. Luckily, I had enough to pay for the meal and a little extra for a patty. Now their beef and fish patty was ALL that. I loved them so much I decided to make a visit later on in the week (the owner recognized me and waved/smiled as it had only been 2 days a part since I had last been) just to get a bag full of patties, I believe they sell 4 different kinds (beef, fish, curry, and chicken). I tried all of them except the curry since they were out. There were a couple of tables for dining in, but the majority just ordered to carry out. All in all, I would definitely go again to try a different dish from the menu and I am definitely recommending to others. read more
