You could tell right away this wasn't just another restaurant. It's her place, and she's proud of it. I really liked the vibe. Big open dining room, an open kitchen where you can watch everything being made, and family pictures all over the walls. It just feels comfortable. The pizza is New Haven-style apizza. The tomato pie was excellent. The San Marzano tomatoes really stand out. Nice fresh tomato flavor, a great bake, plenty of crunch, and a finishing dusting of grated cheese that pulled it all together without getting in the way. The cheese pizza was exactly what a cheese pizza should be. Sometimes the simplest pie tells you the most about a pizzeria, and this one didn't disappoint. My favorite was Donnie's Hot Pepper & Mushroom. The peppers brought just enough heat without taking over. The mushrooms added a nice earthy flavor that balanced everything out. Every bite just worked. One thing that stood out was that everything is made from scratch. You can taste it. Nothing felt like it came out of a bag or was rushed. Mangia Mi is the kind of place you leave already thinking about what you're ordering next time. We only scratched the surface today. I definitely want to come back and work my way through more of the pizzas, fresh pastas, seafood, and whatever specials Chef Rebecca is putting together. Ferris Ice Cream in Newtown…read more 5 Perfect! It wasn't too crowded on a Sunday around noon-ish. The young girl who waited on us very sweet, as if she had just eaten a pint of ice cream herself. I was into tasting basic favors so chocolate and strawberry for me. Nice portions. The chocolate had a nice deep flavor and the strawberry not too chunky. Just the right amount of sweetness. Texture reminds me of gelato All in all, a perfect experience, can't wait to go back.

Additionally the calamari itself was super small as well. No nice meaty rings. No crispy tentacles. Just a greasy mess. The dish purports the dipping sauce to be that of a fra diavolo, it was not. It was more like a marinara with chunky bits of aromatics and perhaps a bit of crushed red pepper. It was also very pricey given everything. Even if it were perfect, still on the pricey side. At the same time my daughter ordered French toast. For $18. We are talking $6 a slice of brioche. Wild business, that. As mains, my wife ordered the avocado toast. Which she actually seemed to enjoy, although the bread was soggy, and the other items on the plate severely lacking. I ordered the "lobster" cake eggs Benedict. If this was lobster, then I'm the Mother Theresa. It was, by my palate overly processed canned crab meat. At best, overly processed lobster meat, but I highly doubt that given the taste, color, and texture. The CRAB cake itself was meh, the accompanying potato hash was okay, and the hollandaise sauce was passable if not good. We ordered drinks as well. My lemon drop martinis were pretty good. My wife was dissatisfied with her margarita, then ordered a dirty martini that was okay. We walked out with a tab of nearly $200. To say it was worth the money would be absurd.
