Crispy roasted potatoes on the side were well-seasoned and the fruit cup was fresh. Ambience was great -busy for a Monday afternoon! but didn't feel commercial at all, more like a neighborhood mom-and-pop spot. Service was quick and friendly too Generous portions for the price. Would order again.

However, my last experience with this establishment left a horrible taste in my mouth. Therefore, I am giving them an extra star for the previous experiences. On May 17th, 2026, my best friend and I had been looking forward to coming to Water Oak all day and had our taste buds set for the occasion. We were famished and had quite a day up until arriving. Upon entering the restaurant, we were very briefly greeted by the a Hispanic man who I assume is the manager and told that they were "no longer seating for the day". I glanced around and saw that every table inside WAS seated, however there were many tables outside that were empty. I asked about the patio stating that us where we preferred to sit anyway, and was met with that they were also not seating the patio at all for the rest of the day. However, there was a group of 3 women seated outside on the patio at that exact time. I didn't say anything, simply turned and left. After having "one of those days" hashing out something so minute with a person who clearly didn't want us in their place of business was not something I was about to do. Keep in mind, we came on a Sunday afternoon. Prime brunch time. We arrived at the restaurant around 2:30PM, and their website says they don't close until 4PM. I am a biracial black woman and my friend is white. I noticed a significant amount of White and Latino patrons, but a shocking lack of Black people. With Houston having one of the most diverse populations in the US, it is almost impossible not to see at least one individual of each ethnicity in a place at any given time. I am definitely not one that likes to pull the race card, because oftentimes that is not the issue. However, as someone who is familiar with the service industry I understand Sundays can be extremely overwhelming. And I am cognizant that not everything is that serious. But, I am also aware that a lot of people in the industry discriminate against people of color, with stigmas that we don't leave enough gratuity or we "don't fit the vibe of their establishment". And those 3 women seated on the patio? All White. After reading recent reviews, it seems that management is discriminating against people of color, more specifically Black folks. This is an extremely disheartening and sickening realization to make, seeing as I have given well over $1,000 worth of my money here but also enjoyed many meals without issue. To management: It breaks my heart to have to write this review and to be honest, I wouldn't have written it if I hadn't seen others posting about similar experiences in addition to also feeling discriminated against. I highly suggest that if you are "not seating" after a specific time, you announce this via social media or alert potential patrons with a sign or something of the sort. & obviously, there is such an issue with treatment towards POC that it is a noteworthy problem via your Google & Yelp reviews. You will have a much bigger fish to fry on your hands if you continue to let this issue go on unrectified. I would be willing to return if I felt things were to be changed for the better in the future! Hopefully this review sparks a much needed conversation and brings attention to an area which needs work.

Communication was clear and concise. Pricing was upfront and reasonable without any additional costs or hidden fees. My invoice was sent and paid online. I received a call the day of pick up, letting me know my order was ready. Cookies were individually wrapped and gorgeous. The cake was not only beautiful, but moist and flavorful. The top tier was red velvet and bottom was strawberry. I love that the icing wasn't overly sweet. Make sure to keep your cake chilled in this hot weather, because it did start to bleed...cookies were also great and withstood the heat with no problems. Enter freely, they've been approved

My daughter's favorite dessert is brownies, so she was especially excited to find them there. I'm a sucker for sugar cookies, so I grabbed several to try. They all had the same flavor, but there were over 20 fun designs to choose from. I picked out an Xbox controller for my son, a taco kitty for my daughter, and one with a funny saying for myself. I even got one for my sister, and she loved it too. The saying was a little edgy, definitely not safe for work but it gave us both a good laugh. I liked them so much that I went back and picked up a box of cookies for the 4th of July. There were tons of holiday-themed options. The flavor was just as good as my first visit, although these were a little softer and broke easily. Still, they were delicious. I also grabbed a slice of red velvet cake, and it was amazing. I can't wait for the next family event so I have a reason to order more cookies and cake. The shop itself is just counter service, no tables or anything to sit at, but it's not that kind of store.

I first texted them the cost and how to place an order . The great thing is , they only need 1 day notice to make this ginormous cinnamon roll . Which is an amazing turn around time ! I placed the order on Jul 17th for pick on July 19th . They didn't require a deposit. Once I arrived on July 19th . It was 30 minutes till they closed and they were just the most sweetest people you could ever meet ! The place felt very inviting and cozy . So this is a family owned business . ( a couple with 1 kid ) Which made this experience even more better because I love supporting local business's! I know leaving great reviews and hearing how great of an experience everything was means so much to them . The lady ( Bonnie ) even threw in 2 free donuts for me having to wait . Which I had no problem with . She handed me my 5lb Cinnamon Roll and asked if I wanted the icing on top or on the top . I opted in for on the side since I knew it wasn't going to be eaten until later . She quickly told me the warm up instructions , which wasn't difficult at all ! What surprised me even more was the " icing on the side " was a tall styrofoam cup filled with icing .haha amazing ! Once the cinnamon roll was warmed up , it was phenomenal. It was not dry at all, and had a good soft texture. Overall , my experience was great ! They even offer giant donuts and giant apple fritters . I will defintely be reccomending this place to family and friends ! And ofcourse I will be back for another 5lb cinnamon roll !!
