Place was clean. Service was quick. Went here for lunch, since I had a coupon. Loved that they had jalapenos in their salsa section. I didn't see this at the other Baja Fresh location at Stoneridge Mall. I was a little disappointed that they ran out of the pineapple salsa. The owner/manager made up for this inconvenience though by hooking me up with some mango salsa instead. It was a little on the wet side (as opposed to chunky), but still tasted great. I will update it when I eat there again. The steak isn't seasoned, taste funny, and shredded like pork. I wanted my sour cream and salsa on my burrito they put it on the side along with the lettuce. I don't know who wants a burrito with all the trimming that go on the inside on the side. My order was steak and shrimp but I only had three shrimps inside. Nice size but not enough for the burrito. The burrito wasn't spicy at all, as that's why I ordered it. I really usually like the freshness of all the veggies is why I come here. Hopefully they will see this and want to make improvements. I love the food at Baja Fresh. Tonight I went for a quick dinner and the food didn't disappoint. Decided to stay indoors and listen to the music while I was eating, when something caught my eye. A woman was dining on the patio with two others and her dog was sitting on the table next to her food. A table where other people would like to sit too and enjoy their food without the fear that a dog put his butt on right before they were having dinner. I finished my dinner and hoped that it was just an accident but by the time I finished my food, the dog was still on the table and it's owner showed no signs of correcting the situation. I asked for the restaurant manager or someone in charge but no one seemed to want to take on that role. Finally the guy at the counter came around and after I pointed out to the group on the patio, I asked him if he sees anything wrong with that dog being on the table. He gave me the "deer in the headlights" look.... I informed everybody about the health code violation happening right under their eyes but no one did anything about it. He went outside and probably told the woman about my complaint because she was giving me dirty looks. Sad, that a well intended state low allowing dogs on restaurant patios is abused. Slow service. I was the only customer inside and yet the cashier took his time to acknowledge that a customer is waiting. When he turned around and got my order, I still have to wait since he can't figure out how to ring me up with his cash register. Then the person who is supposed to make my order is talking to a man who I supposed he knows but completely disregarding that I'm waiting for my order. When my order is finally done- the guy who is at the cash register asked if I want chips. Duh. Aren't u suppose to give that to your customer? Afraid of being served slow again, I declined the chips. After a day driving around in the hills, it was nice to drop down for a quick snack. This is a fast food chain, so this will be short. We enjoyed their nachos enough. Everything was under $10.00 and hit the spot. It's a clean location with prompt, though not overly friendly staff. Sometimes prompt will do the trick. Afterall, I'm just ordering nachos at a counter. Went looking for a fast/kid friendly place to eat on Friday evening. We decided to hit up Baja Fresh. I got a Baja Bowl with shrimp/steak and green rice. It was pretty good. Hubby got a shrimp burrito and again, pretty good. Kids got the kids meal which was pretty disappointing. It's $5 and supposed to be either a quesadilla, tostada, or a burrito, with fruit, chips and a drink. Ok, so the quesadilla was three tiny strips, the fruit was 3 grapes. Yes, 3 grapes, and there were no tortilla chips. So not worth $5 and pretty lame. So, it's ok. It will do in a pinch but it's not out of this world. read more

Found a cockroach in my food!!! We ordered takeout dinner on Sunday May 6. When we opened one of the containers, we were greeted with more than our food.... a very alive and active cockroach jumped out! We lost our appetites and will never be going back to this restaurant again. We left a message but never heard back. The carnitas tacos (Baja) were the BOMB! I am quite surprised how good they were. The pico de gallo salsa is really ready too. I'm picky about Mexican style rice. I found the consistency of the rice here to be good! Light and fluffy. The only negative is the employees seem pretty miserable. I've been coming here for time to time and I thought they used to have a pretty decent service with attentive staffs and quality dishes compared to the other locations in the area. Then the Bernal locations closed and now the San Ramon location closed down. So I have been coming here more often than before. I noticed the entire staff changed and now run by Indian family. I'm sure it has nothing to do with Indian race but since the newly changed staff I immediately noticed the quality of the entire place. The place is not kept clean, the food portion size has noticeably reduced on variety of their menu and the worst of it is the taste. Some times it is overly salty and sometimes it is overly bland. I don't even want to go near their salsa bar which they don't seem to clean up all day nor do they refill at all. As other locations have shown this place also seems very much likely to shut down soon. read more

Absolutely horrible experience!! Ordered Nachos with just cheese and chicken. They brought my order out with everything on it. I brought it back, and they gave me a hard time about re making it, how i ordered it. Then when i get it. Half of the nachos were completely burned, then the other half were still cold. I have been a customer of many different Baja Fresh branches for about a decade. In general, I have been satisfied with the food and service but what happened today at the Danville location makes me give this location just 2 stars. We ordered 5 items to go, and when we got home, we opened our bag and noticed that one item, a steak burrito, was missing. So we drove back to the store, and told them of their mistake. The person at the counter said he'd make us the burrito and had to tell his supervisor. The supervisor told us that they would NOT make us the burrito and that they would have to review the video tapes to make sure that we are telling the truth. He said that very recently they have caught some people trying to cheat Baja Fresh by reviewing the video tape. Therefore, in order to do anything for us, they would review the video tapes first, which would take 1-2 weeks. Oh, and by the way, he said that's why customers should first look in their bag before leaving to make sure we get everything we ordered. Also, he said - his workers have been there for a long time (years, he said) and have never ever made a mistake (yea right). I have several problems with this. The first is assuming that all customers are trying to cheat them until proven otherwise. I just paid for my lunch, and YOUR workers made a mistake by forgetting to put my burrito in there, and not only do you not try to correct your mistake, but you imply that I'm lying by needing to check the video tape and saying that your workers NEVER make mistakes?! I find this completely insulting. I think in trying to protect themselves from dishonest customers, they have forgotten that there are honest customers out there and maybe the loss to "fraud" should be handled as -a cost to be written off, in order to not piss off and insult honest customers -look for a pattern from particular people - if it happens often with one party, you know who the dishonest ones are (seriously the number of people who would do that is low as the supervisor said it happened 2-3 times recently) The second, is being disingenuous in saying your workers never make mistakes. What a load of BS. The third is trying to blame it on the customer by saying that I should have looked in the bag first. Yea, you know what? I probably should have. But with 5 items in the bag, it was hard to eyeball and I wasn't going to stand there and open/unwrap each thing on your counter. And so I didn't. But then your workers should have given me my burrito I paid for. Seriously, would I drive twice to Baja Fresh from my home to cheat Baja Fresh out of an eight dollar burrito? I have better things to do with my time. I should say that after all this, the supervisor backed down and asked his staff to make the burrito. But he made it VERY clear to me that this was against corporate policy and that he's doing me a favor. I appreciated that he finally gave us the burrito. I did call corporate afterwards, who informed me that they have no such policy of reviewing video tapes and that they were supposed to make me what was missing. They said they would be calling and addressing with that branch. We will see what happens. But clearly, this branch has forgotten what "customer experience" means by having harsh rules that protect themselves, and in the meantime alienate honest customers. After all this, we got home with the burrito, and looked though the other 4 items, and realized they had gotten 1 other order wrong (slightly....wrong meat) too. So much for your workers who have been there for years and have never ever made a mistake. read more
