Great place to go if looking for repair or improvement items for personal or commercial properties. As soon as you walk in staff will personally take you to whatever you are in search for. They are really helpful and know their products. Sure prices are a little higher and the selection is not as good as Home Depot or Menards, but the customer service and keeping a centrally located hardware store open is worth it for me. I really like to shop at this little hardware store, as the service is top notch. The big home improvement stores seem to always be under staffed and I will often leave after not finding the item(s) I want. At ACE someone always greats you at the door and is ready to help find what you need. While they don't the big selection like the other guys their service makes up for it. read more

In this world of mega-shopping stores and indoor lumber yards/nurseries, there is something to be said for an old fashioned hardware store. There aren't a whole lot left, but this is a good one. I've never spent a lot of time in this store, because I've never had to. I walk in, tell them what I need, they find it, I buy it and I walk out. If it's something heavy, a gentleman carries it to my car for me. In the big Home Depots and Menards stores, you better hope you find some former hardware store worker to help you, because the bulk of the staff doesn't know what anything is or where to find it. Ace is different, they help you everytime, with a smile. I would have given it 5 stars, but on a busy saturday, it's location next to the Beverly & 2nd St. intersection can make it hard to get to or get out of. read more

Pretty close to an old-time 'carries everthing you need" hardware store. It's amazing what they have that the big box stores don't have. Ace is not by any means a contractor supply (lumber, concrete, roofing materials, pre-made cabinets, light fixtures, etc.) but for a homeowner with a repair job to do, definitely check them out. Kind of pricey on the Ace brand items. read more
