My check in was swift and easy as I did most of my Pre checkin online in My Chart! Takes a little getting used to the site... Everyone I dealt with from checking in, the initial nurse, anesthesiologist, doctor and team of nurses. Good communication for pre procedure as well as post procedure for colonoscopy. Staff took care of me until I was wheeled down to the car in the lobby area. I'm a FaN of Swedish today!!! CON - Albeit...getting appointments can be weeks to months. And getting someone on the phone or in the right group is always confusing and LONG wait times.

He never makes me feel judged whatever the topic may be and he engages with my interest in deeply understanding my own health metrics and current science and research in an evidence based way. I've found other doctors be annoyed or dismissive when a patient wants to ask questions about their own theories and learn about health and their bodies along the way. Joshua is always patient and willing to talk through things. He genuinely tries to stay at the leading edge of developments and is often aware of new treatments or protocols as soon as they are available, but is also humble enough to be open to learning about things that may not have crossed his radar yet. He has more than once made himself available specially for me when something needed handling and schedules with travel or work were making it difficult. Working with Joshua feels like a genuine partnership on my health and he's helped talk me through concerns about certain medication types that I was hesitant to try but ultimately resulted in some of my health markers being better than they have ever been in my life. Now I happily drive over an hour from my new place to visit him (fortunately this is only needed once or twice a year since we are able to handle most things through Telehealth and portal messages). He's always been super great about listening to my particular concerns, collaborating with me on my care needs, asking what terminology I use for anatomy, and has been super non-judgemental and actually supportive and informative on some of the more difficult topics. A huge difference from most of the medical practitioners I've encountered in the past! I will continue making the trek to see Josh as long as he's still in practice.

You take a number and they call you up- everyone can hear what you're saying to them when you get up there because they've all been waiting so long they are all paying attention. All of your personal information is on display- they can all hear it. It's embarrassing at best. Also, their doctors seem to work whenever they feel like it- not regularly, you won't develop a relationship with any of them. The whole system is very impersonal- it's a very disorganized place. It represents the money you pay to be a part of it, cheap. 100%. If you have a choice, don't do Kaiser, you will regret it.

Seattle Roots has undergone a lot of changes from when it was Country Doctor over the last couple years and I've since had many frustrating experiences with front desk staff being disorganized, uninformed, dismissive and even blatantly rude. I understand the intense strain Covid and the ever-changing state of the health care system has placed on health care providers and clinics over the last few years, but I'm so disheartened and confused by the increasing lack of care at Seattle Roots. I highly urge other patients to research and seek care elsewhere, if they can. I understand there's not a lot of options for low income people.

I called as a prospective patient to ask basic questions about annual skin screenings and insurance referrals. During the call, I was repeatedly placed on hold and given very limited information. When I asked whether mole checks and skin screenings were similar, I was told, "I'm not medically trained to provide that information." When I then asked if there was anyone medically trained I could speak with to clarify what services would be appropriate, I was told, "No, there isn't." The response was brief and offered no additional explanation, which came across as dismissive and made it difficult to determine whether to schedule preventive care. This feedback is not about the doctors, but about communication and patient access. I hope it's helpful for improving the experience for future patients.

At this point, I think we've seen all of the doctors and had excellent medical care. My concerns are listened to with kindness, empathy, and understanding. Everything is explained in a respectful way. We've been there for colds, viruses, alllllll the Covid tests during the pandemic, broken bones, pneumonia, mental health concerns, and more complicated problems. There is an in-house xray machine, radiologist, bloodwood, vaccine clinic, and probably more. The front desk staff have been friendly. The lobby and medical rooms are clean and comfortable. The location is easy access and we love grabbing lunch or coffee after a doctor's appointment.

In person, she looks nothing like her profile picture on the Polyclinic site; she walked into the exam room with her colorful tattoos and a sundress, and I was immediately more comfortable. Normally my social anxiety around beautiful people would kick in, but she was super personable, and actually listened to me. A mentor of mine once told me that "if you listen to your patients, actually listen, they will give you the keys to the castle". She actually did, and she stated that I needed to get a diagnostic ultrasound, STAT. When that came back negative for what we were looking for, she even sent me back for another. Eventually we determined the diagnosis, and while there is no immediate solution to my issues, the understanding of what is going on with me has reduced my stress levels. Dr. Thompson is the kind of doctor I wish I knew outside of the doctor - patient relationship... wait, that sounds creepy! What i mean to say is that she's a great balance of "human" and "professional", and I'll choose her each time going forward.
