Best bagel I've ever had! Perfectly chewy, not too dense. Their cream cheese is okay, pretty standard. But the bagel quality is amazing. Everything is always a winner. The poppy seed and garlic are also very good. Skip the pumpernickel -- a little too dense in my opinion. Super cheap -- cannot believe the prices! We have been going here for 35 years routinely, ever since moving to Rockland County, and have been mostly satisfied. Today was a game changer! I had asked for an egg and cheese sandwich on a soft roll for my spouse to bring home. When he opened his order at home, the fillings were overflowing the roll. I couldn't see anything but a roll, and when I peeled back the edges I was furious! One side had absolutely NOTHING in it, the other just a spit of egg and a drop of cheese. You know it's going to be good when there's a line out the door... I stopped here after working up a sweat hiking in Ramapo County Reservation. After waiting in a fast-moving line, I ordered a toasted whole wheat everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and an iced hazelnut coffee. All of it was top notch! The bagel was the perfect consistency, fresh, and flavorful, and I could've eaten a half gallon of the cream cheese easily (gross but true). The hazelnut coffee tasted like real hazelnut, rather than the super sweet, syrupy version in most flavored coffee. Let me start off this review by explaining my love for finding the perfect bagel. It's been quite an extensive search-one filled with sweat and despair. But alas, I have found the perfect bagel. This bagel will only be found at The Train. It's tender, chewy interior cannot be beat. The warm, crispy exterior shell is the perfect touch. But the combination of the two together is something I have never come across, in my 23 year long journey of bagel expertise. The line is ALWAYS out the door. Accept it. Don't complain about it. Of course there is going to be a shit ton of people huddled in there, after all, it IS the best place you can come across. I am a food critic. And I do not throw out 5 stars because I'm nice. Best bagels you could ever get. I've been coming to this place forever. They used to give me the mini bagels for free when I used to be small and cute. Even if I'm not eligible for the cute bagel, it's still the best place. My favorite is the everything bagel with vegetable cream cheese or Nova Scotia lox and cream cheese. Today I got the lox and the lady who made it used the perfect ratio of lox to cream cheese! They know their bagels. Their chocolate croissants are amazing as well!!! I love that I can have chocolate for breakfast and it be socially acceptable. But you must go to the one in downtown Suffern, not in Airmont. Although their bagels are great, their customer service is disappointing. There has been multiple times in the past few months where I have gone in and my order was forgotten or was wrong. It was not once, but multiple times. My boyfriend and I came in recently while visiting family, and the woman behind the counter left his bagel in the toaster for a full half hour. We were trying to be patient and kind, because it was busy. We saw handfuls of customers come in and leave with their orders. Oh my goodness, where do I start!? Their bagels are AMAZING. The place is so small and unassuming, and parking is a pain, but it's so worth it. The line is often atrocious, but it's just another sign of the greatness that is Bagel Train. So affordable, especially for the amount and the taste...oh lawdy the taste. The fluffiness of their breads is like lying on a pillow of wheaty happiness, and just go well with everything they stuff into it. By far the best bagels around. I drove 40 minutes from NJ. Bagels are always crisp on outside and moist inside. .85 for plain 1.55 cream cheese. They also make all of there pastries. When you order from a place and they tell you 15 minutes to pick up your food. I waited the 15 minutes finally went and waited on a line for another 10 min. Then had to wait for my food that wasn't even ready yet. Horrible service. Also when you walk up to the door maximum six people. I go in I'm told to stand outside by an employee that there are to many people on the store, no big deal so I step outside.
