After speaking with a handful of reputable contractors in the Madison area, we chose Allen Kitchen…read more& Bath (AKB) based on a referral from a friend who had their kitchen recently remodeled. We had our first meeting with Kathy (Interior Designer) within a few days of contacting them. She came out to our home, talked with us about our needs and ideas, and took rough measurements right then and there so she could get started on renderings, material selection, and planning. Within a week, we were in her office reviewing a detailed, accurate work order that was nearly spot-on with our vision -- and at a price lower than we had anticipated! After answering what must have been a million questions from us over the next week or two (and letting us review other materials in the showroom), we came almost full circle back to Kathy's original design. Kathy was patient, kind, and quick to address all our needs as we worked through the initial planning process. Once we officially signed with AKB, it was less than a month before our project was scheduled and the dumpster arrived. Our lead carpenter, Pat, arrived the following morning and got to work right away. Outside of the electrician and plumbers, Pat was our main tradesperson for the project--from tear-out to tiling, he was skilled in all areas. Since I work from home, I was able to greet Pat each morning and talk over the day's work. He also showed a great deal of patience and kindness as I asked questions about the project, materials, techniques, and more. And since he was here for over a month, I got to learn more about him and his family. It was genuinely nice having him here each morning, putting his years of experience to work as he rebuilt our bathroom from the ground up. His dedication to his trade truly speaks for itself--our bathroom turned out amazing! Overall, we are very pleased with our remodeling experience with Allen Kitchen & Bath. Everyone we interacted with was kind, patient, knowledgeable, and engaging. Our bathroom turned out better than we could have imagined--the shower is our favorite part!

I can't say enough good things about my kitchen remodel with Allen. I had a basic idea of what I…read morewanted and Laree helped me find all the right pieces. She rearranged my kitchen floor plan to not only work better but also give me much more storage. Harrison, the carpenter, did a great job - he was not happy with just "ok", but was more of a perfectionist than me. Nino, the tile guy, made my selection of hand made (thus uneven and a challenge to use) tile the highlight of the room. Deanna kept me up-to-date on all installations. Even the inspections went smoothly. I've been thru a lot of construction projects and this has been, by far, the easiest with the best outcome. 5 Stars for Sure!

The company and their flooring installer…read moreNathan Albrecht were disrespectful and unreliable by regularly showing up late, on multiple occasions hours late, and majority of the time not even giving notice that they would be late. The first attempt at replacing a stairway ended with stairs differing in height by over 2 inches, causing rework and delay. Flooring materials had to be reordered twice, causing delay. In my opinion I was overcharged for any additional work that was performed. The ~4 day project took 31 days to complete. Not even months post project completion and the project began falling apart. In the first few months post completion I had 6 pieces of new stair nosing become detached from the stairs. Areas where caulk was used are starting to separate so gaps are visible, and there is an area of floor bubbling. Even when the project is complete, the disaster continues. Total Concept & Design's project Nathan Albrecht performed is falling apart just months after completion. Rather than being happy and content with the project, I'm just thinking when is the next stair nose going to fall off? Will someone get injured?
