This place is soooooo much fun! If it wasn't for us specifically looking for it you wouldn't even know it was there. The building it's located in is next door to Taps n Dolla (downtown Indy) and across from what I noticed appears to be a tequila and taco bar (I'll be adding that to my list ;)). Anyways, you walk in and then you take the elevator to the 2nd floor. You'll check in, sign a waiver (everyone is in masks), get a tutorial and get to throwing! I can't lie I was nervous I was going to f**k some ish up, but I didn't! Matter of fact I hit bullseye SEVERAL times! Once you get the hang of things and at the instructors discretion; they will show you different tricks and how to throw 2 of them together. I wasn't skilled enough, but Mi Amor was having a blast. We even got to throw Big Bertha! If you get the honors of throwing Big Bertha, feel proud because that sucker is heavy! They show you how to play different versions of games. We played 2 different ones and things got VERY competitive real quick. Once you get the swing of it, they'll definitely have you throwing like a pro. If you're in the downtown area and looking for something different to do, check this spot out! It was $27/person and we were able to be there for an hour; the rep told us the better package is 6 people $40/person and you get 2 hours! They have water, soda, beer and a few wines; it's def a GREAT time!!!

Axe throwing is the trendy group activity these days and I have to say, I surprisingly enjoyed it! My boyfriend comes here weekly for an axe throwing league and we went on an open throw night. They can host private parties upstairs, but walk-ins are welcome - just check the schedule. Throwing the axe is less about strength and more about when you release it went throwing overhead - obviously, you want the blade to his the wood target. I worked up a sweat over the course of an hour, throwing and fetching my axe. I even hit the bullseye a few times! I recommend wearing a shirt/jacket that allows you to freely move your arms and shoulders. You'll use your whole upper body to catapult the axe.

I've wanted to try this and finally had an opportunity. Let's be honest, I'd seen photos and pictured my athletic self walking in and knocking this out of the park. Didn't go as planned! They have coaches on each level and they are there to help you and laugh at you if the opportunity presents itself. They have games you can play with your partner and a bartender to give you any liquid courage you might need! Make sure you check them out. You won't be disappointed.

I went to Bad Axe Throwing Company for a friend's birthday party. It wasn't something I would've picked out to do on my own, a plus for having friends that make you try new things! I had a lot of fun! After the explanation of dos and don'ts, you can begin throwing to your heart's desire! I was a little fearful at first about getting injured, but it is a very safe environment. You could bring your own food in so our party ordered wings and soda to enjoy while we chucked the axes. Great opportunity to socialize with your friends while you wait for your turn or laugh at the group member that just can't seem to make the mark. Wear closed shoes and I wouldn't wear super loose clothing or any jewelry that hangs. You'll also be using a lot of body strength so be ready!

Super fun double date night or team building activity. In the perfect location to eat dinner, throw an axe and then get drinks at the bars after. You can buy alcohol upstairs.

This is a great spot for date night or just some exercise. We had never thrown axes before but had some free time without the kids and decided to give it a go. When you arrive, you have to complete a waiver on your phone. As soon as you do that and pay, the coach takes you to a lane and explains the weights of the different axes and then gives you the basics of how to throw. As you throw your first few, he points out what you need to do differently. In the first 10 minutes, I don't think either of us got anything to stick. By the last 10 minutes, we were consistently sticking them to the board. It is a solid hour of working out and a lot more fun than anything at the gym. I will absolutely do this again.

Bad Axe Throwing is as epic as it sounds. Get your friends together, drink some beer and throw some axes. We did make reservations before showing up since it was for a friend's birthday, but the sign did say they accept walk-ins as well. Major perk: Grant, our host, walked us through every throw we could do and gave us tips. He showed us the throws and taught us many competitive games to play. Our group is most likely the reason why it is called Bad Axe Throwing (ha!). We had such a great time and loved that Grant was always around giving us tips and challenging us to new things - like the long throw!! Highly recommend and will most likely return.

Great fun away from the usual suspects. A little loud and a little pricey. Our "instructor" offered knife throwing once we got the axe throwing understood and then told us it was an add on charge. While that was fun, it would have been nice to know that ahead of time.

Awesome time. DeJon was outgoing and provided great service and entertainment. Good for kids and a quick Birthday party with the ability for you to bring snacks and cupcakes. They do sell Beer and Wine for the adults. Make a reservation so you don't get stuck wait

I know Axe Throwing is the new IT thing, but I never thought I'd actually go and do it. I thought it would be hard, but it was actually really fun and easy! My friend arranged everything and I think we had a private party. There were 20 of us and we were upstairs. I did like that there was a long bar where people cold sit, actually there were two so lots of places to be out of the way and be able to talk. My friend brought some snacks and we got drinks at the bar. Cooper our coach was great. He made it seem pretty easy and really helped with form. I was excited that by my second turn I got an axe in and my 3rd I actually got a bulls-eye! My only regret is that with 20 people and only 2 hours I only got to throw a few times. We also did a game so that involved everyone and was more fast paced. I would have liked a few more chances since it was kind of pricey.

When it's a birthday in you thirties, what do you do for a new activity? Grab your closest friends and go throw some axes! Here is what you need to know: - Make an appointment online, there is a deposit of $70 that goes towards the fee for 2 ppl. - it's $35/ person - birthday person goes for free, bring your id, they'll take a pic to verify - Group has to be at least 6 ppl - They only take credit card at the facility - you can bring food/ have pizza delivered - You can byob, but no glass and hard alcohol There is an instructor who hangs out/ directs the group the whole time. We had James he was a cool and informative. He teaches you various throws, then you play some games. I was pretty horrible at it, but still had a blast! When I was able to get the axe in the board it was pretty exciting!

Nothing says stress relief than throwing an axe. Bad Axe throwing has finally made its way into the Indy scene. Located right next to Haveli Indian Cuisine on Meridian Street, all that stands between you and the fun is an short elevator ride to the second floor and a short stop in the area to fill out a liability wavier. The setup is pretty simple. Similar to batting cages, there is a fence, with a bar top and some bar stools to enjoy the action. There are two separate two lane throwing areas.Don't feel imitated if you've never thrown an ax, don't worry, as you will get an orientation . Then the games begin. Practicalities: + Make sure to wear closed toed shoes + Make sure to always pay attention after your throw, the ax can bounce back if you hit the board wrong + The bulls-eye- while you would assume is worth the most amount of points is in fact not. The small two blue dots in the upper corners are worth the most + Throwing an ax looks simple enough, but there are a lot of little things that can mess your throw off. After a few throws you should get the hang of it. + There are multiple parking lots near this location + use the website to book an event + Credit card only for payments, as cash is not accepted + Bring your own food or drinks. Just no glass! + Unless it an Public Walk-in session ( $20/person) or other special event, you will have to go as a group event(varies based on group size, $35+tax/person for 35 +, $44.25+tax/person, but you will need to verify if there is a minimum), or be a member of their Axe Throwing Leagues($15/week on league day) + Target boards are regularly replaces when they become too damaged. I would highly recommend getting a group of friends together and have some fun!

Ask the Community - Bad Axe Throwing

    Is it wheelchair accessible?

It gets crowded around some of the lanes pending group sizes, so it does get difficult to move around. There is an elevator so certainly easy access to both floors and rest room. Suggest calling ahead and requesting a throwing lane in the back room… Read more

    Can 13 Year olds go?

Yes, kids have to be 7 or older to throw an axe and a parent has to sign a waiver for them.

Anyone know the food situation? Aka, do they offer it? And, if not, can we bring our own?

If I recall correctly they had bags of chips, along with a pretty decent beer selection but they let you bring your own snacks in. We brought a ton of food with us with no problem
