I wish I could tell you that this Ilongga was craving for the taste of home, which was how I ended up at Bacolod Chicken Inasal (I was actually born in Iloilo, BTW), or some interesting story; but actually, the restaurant just happened to be standing beside Centerstage along Jupiter Street, it was videoke night and we were no. 5 on the KTV place's waitlist as we conveniently forgot to reserve, and we were hungry. That's how we ended up there. We're happy we did, though.
This branch's interiors is homey, unlike its branches in malls. There were wooden chairs and wooden tables, which made us feel like we were dining in the dining room of an ancestral mansion in the Visayas. The food is homecooked goodness, too. And yes, we purposefully shied away from the Chicken Inasal, choosing instead to feast on Bangus Sisig, Chicken Adobo Flakes, Vegetable Kare-Kare, and Shrimp Gambas.
The waiters and supervisor (Peter) who attended to us were polite and eager to please. We didn't have to wait long for our orders, and our glasses were refilled eith water promptly. Perhaps it helped that the restaurant was not too busy that night.
To cap off our dinner, we decided on Buko Pandan and Leche Flanilla (that's vanilla ice cream on top of leche flan, in case you didn't get the name), the latter of which deserves two thumbs up! The leche flan was oh-so-creamy, and the vanilla ice cream was a cool contrast to the warm caramel syrup of the flan. read more
