Not worth a second visit. The owners had their parking at front door while handicapped and veterans had to go around their trucks. Bartender was overwhelmed, almost finished my beer before we could order. He for burnt bacon wrapped scallops. I had the joy of hair in my shrimp. We got burgers thinking they couldn't mess that up.....they did! We ordered medium, got rare. Got our bill....$3.55 meal tax. WTF?!? Never heard of that. Next time I'm only tipping on the food not all the extras these places add. Also no apologies for hair in my food. Teach your staff to wear hairnets in the kitchen.

Interesting local spot. One side is the bar area which does allow smoking. The odor does carry over slightly into the dinging area but not terribly. Plenty of food options for all. Chicken tenders are big, juicy and flavorful. Chicken Philly was very good as well, very good portion of chicken. Shrimp Po boy(fried) was yummy. Burgers were good but not cooked as requested. Onion rings were thick cut and tasty. Service was okay, it seemed like we had a waitress switch at some point, we all had empty drinks asked for refills and received room temperature water (no ice). We were in around 4pm and were the only ones dining in the dining section and it took a good while to get our food. We tried the key lime pie and strawberry cheesecake crunch for dessert. Both tasty, key lime pie was very tangy which is different but still good. They do have different menu options for dinner which had even more options that sounded worth trying. Also had daily specials. Overall it was a good experience and would return if we are in the area.

I came here on a weeknight for dinner with a large group. Thankfully, we made a reservation ahead of time to have a special table set up for us. Our server, Megan, was amazingly friendly and professional, and was able to help guide us with our drink and dinner choices. I ended up choosing the fillet for my steak. Your steak comes with two side dishes. I opted for the garlic, mashed potatoes and a side Caesar salad. The steak was provided with a special rub that consisted of salt, pepper, garlic, and dehydrated molasses. I also got a pat of herb infused butter, which they melted with a torch right in front of me when they brought my steak out. They also provided me with a side of their chimichurri sauce. I ended up ordering my fillet medium, and for a steak like that, it was so tender and amazingly flavorful. My mind raced as to if this truly was the best steak I have had in my life. The succeeded every expectation I have for how could a steak could be. And it wasn't just me being hungry coming up with this review everyone else at the table was amazed at how everything was so delicious. Easily better than any steakhouse that I have been to back in my home area of Seattle. My group had a fantastic time and all of the staff here were so amazing and made us feel right at home with their hospitality. I will not hesitate to come back here the next time we are in the area.

You get a nice warm feeling there. A very large place. Love the entrance, is has a very nice bar. Food- Very pricing for what was ordered and brought to us. The shrimp from the shrimp cocktail tasted old and a bit chewy. My crab cakes had very little lump crab for $50. The server told me that they would be top notch. Wife's petite filet was good. Side dishes had to be sent back because they were warm. Wine selection is large and varied. My old fashioned did not come with a large ice cube, so I reprimanded the server and he changed it out. Classy places serve them with a large ice cube! Service- Felt rushed. Maybe they didn't have enough servers. Ours could have been a bit more matured and experienced. Their smocks need to be whiter. If you are wearing white, it needs to be white and not have that unbleached used look. Value- I don't see it. Stoney River is a better value though their atmosphere is lacking. Wait time- they sat us immediately. Food took a bit long we thought. All in all, disappointed. I went online earlier in the week asking for the best steakhouse in Md. and Lewnes was at the top of the list. Enough good that we will likely give it one more try, but by no means stellar. Made an early dinner reservation for four of us, and the place was almost empty when we were seated. Nice ambiance. Drinks were brought out promptly. They brought out bread and 3 house made butters. The bread was nothing special (I doubt house-made) and the butters were good. The mixed greens and house dressing (green goddess) were fine but VERY overdressed - I will ask for dressing on the side next time. One in our party had the lobster bisque. He commented that it was very heavy on the lemon but ok. My husband and I split a smoked salmon appetizer and it was tasty but most of the salmon was from the very tail end of the fillet , so was quite chewy, with quite a bit of connective tissue. One person in our party ordered duck breast, and it was supposed to be medium. It was very rare/bloody (the waiter later told her it was initially medium) and she sent it back to cook a little more, and it was returned more to her liking. They also brought her a complimentary glass of wine. Her husband's main dish order was correct, and he was happy with it. My husband and I both ordered the American Wagyu flank steak, his rare, mine medium rare. They brought him a medium-rare filet, and my steak (an actual flank) was very rare (not a big deal, I like prefer medium-rare but rare is OK, and not worth sending it back and getting it too done). I had asked for my steak with the garlic-herb butter rather than the standard horseradish sauce, and my husband wanted the horseradish, which is how we know who's was who's, yet the cooks on the steaks were reversed. When it was pointed out that they brought him the wrong steak, they initially took it back, then a manager returned and offered him the filet at the same price as the flank steak. He actually preferred the flank but did not want to wait for them to fire a new order, so he agreed. He said it was an excellent filet, just not what he wanted, and was medium rare, not the rare he ordered. My flank steak was well seasoned and tasty. I would make the suggestion that flank is a steak that should be sliced prior to presentation. It is a cut that should be sliced across the grain in order to keep it from being really chewy, and between the sauce on top and the dim lighting, it was hard to figure out which way to slice the meat. The steak knife provided was not all that sharp, and when combined with the very rare steak, it was difficult to cut. The side dishes were good. There was a smashed potato dish that was well seasoned and appropriately cooked, and asparagus and baby carrots - both simple but well-executed and fresh. We ordered two desserts. One was a chocolate lava cake which was pretty much what you expect - a good chocolate lava cake. I ordered the apple rosemary bread pudding. The only detectable rosemary was the garnish, and there was no detectable apple. The bread pudding was, for lack of a better term, hard. There was plenty of custard mixture but it didn't really soften up the bread sufficiently, so it was very difficult to break up with the spoon provided. What should have been soft and luxurious was... chewy. The flavor was nice, but not what I expected (again, no detectable apple or rosemary). Service was good (other than putting in the wrong steak order, which the server admitted to), attentive without being intrusive.

We parked on Washington Ave, because there was handicapped parking by the door. As it turned out, that door was only accessible by hotel keycard. I tried the intercom but there was no answer. Why is your ONLY handicapped parking outside a locked door?? The other, open door is a walk to the opposite side of the city block - does that make any sense?? We arrived about 5 minutes before our OpenTable reservation. I only note that because the restaurant reported me as a no-show to OpenTable. I had to send a correction to them. So again, not good. The waitstaff was gracious, prompt, friendly, and helpful. That's good for the restaurant, because they were the saving grace that has this as high as 3 stars. The cocktail menu was underwhelming, as was the beer selection. I did find one I hadn't tried, and it was properly served and the correct temperature. The food menu is varied and interesting, but the execution was middling. The bread brought out to the table was an excellent, yeasty mini-loaf. We had an excellent whipped goat cheese dip for an appetizer. It specified local, so we asked which local farm. We were told a seller in Richmond - not local to the Fredericksburg area, but over an hour away. The elk loin was excellent and perfectly prepared, as was the mushroom side. The baby back ribs were well cooked, but heavily caked with a thick sauce that overwhelmed the flavor and made it hard to eat, and accompanied by cole slaw swimming in mayo. The fries were tasty at first, but became unpleasant as they cooled. We decided to try dessert, and the Basque cheesecake was enjoyable. The flourless chocolate torte was less like a cake than a very dry, hard chocolate bar, so it really wasn't very good. It is a relaxing and pleasant place to sit, and some of the food was good, but the detraction from the experience made it extremely unlikely that we will return.
