They specialize in rum based cocktails (and will publicly shame you if you order a vodka drink). Their menu was pretty huge and full of very interesting and fun looking drinks. The Big Willie D in particular was phenomenal and tasted like a coconutty White Russian. They also have a passport where if you try every drink on the menu you get access to their exclusive explorer's club menu. The staff added to the fun atmosphere by periodically making announcements and playing along with the crowd. You can tell that this is a very local, family owned business. A few things to note: -You MUST make a reservation and if you don't show up to that reservation you will have to pay a no-show fee. -You only get one hour in the bar per reservation. They rotate out the entire bar every hour on the hour. It's a fast paced but fun atmosphere. Defined not a sit back and relax type of cocktail lounge.

The vibe and aesthetic are cozy and elegant. Service was fast and welcoming. It took a moment to find the entrance. Though we did miss the initial sign pointing in the direction of the bar and then the bar sign hanging from the side of the building itself. The entrance is located directly to the right of Tokyo Alley. Loved the outdoor space walking up to the entrance itself. This could be amazing for warmer temperature days. Churchill's on Cherry is the definition of an elevated experience, tucked away in downtown Macon…read more When we first walked in downstairs, I honestly questioned if we had the right place. It felt understated, almost too quiet. Then we spotted the staircase, and those steps just kept going. Once we reached the top, all doubt disappeared. What awaited us was an elegant, thoughtfully curated cigar lounge that immediately impressed. I don't smoke cigars and typically avoid smoking establishments altogether because the smell lingers in my hair and clothes. To my surprise, Churchill's is extremely well ventilated. When we left, I didn't smell like I'd been in a cigar lounge at all, a huge win in my book. My husband is a bourbon lover and has been searching for a spot worthy of inviting "the fellas" when they're in town. I won't say his friends are pretentious, but they are gentlemen, and this is absolutely a place for men with class and prestige. Churchill's boasts a vast selection of premium liquor, easily the largest and most impressive bourbon and whiskey collection I've personally seen. The photos online truly don't do this place justice. The ambiance has a moody, blues-club vibe, upscale, sexy, and refined. I almost forgot I was in Macon. Smooth jazz instrumentals played in the background, setting the tone perfectly. Every detail was intentional, even down to the restroom, which was immaculate and elegant. Customer service was stellar. Genesis, our bartender, was jovial, attentive, and incredibly skilled. Despite the bar being filled to capacity, she made every guest feel like they had her undivided attention. One of the owners also made a point to greet each guest personally, welcoming us with warmth and genuine hospitality, a touch that never goes unnoticed. Since we had just come from dinner, we stuck to drinks. I ordered my favorite cocktail, a strawberry lemon drop martini, and it was made perfectly. My husband enjoyed an Old Fashioned that was equally well executed. No matter how premium your liquor selection is, it means nothing without quality ingredients and knowledgeable bartenders -- Churchill's has both. I can't wait to return so we can try the food. A few things to note: there is a 20% gratuity automatically added to each bill, which was well deserved in our experience. They are card-only, no cash accepted. And lastly, make sure you're sober enough to make it back down those stairs when you leave. Churchill's on Cherry is a gem for Macon. Classy, refined, and done right. This is how it's supposed to be.

In that approximate half of a century so many bands have graced the establishment and the crowd with music, including bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Marshall Tucker Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (then known as Mudcrutch), Boz Scaggs and the Allman Brothers Band. With such amazing performers having graced this establishment, I guess they earn their self-appointed title of "the home of southern rock." This is by no means a fancy place, in fact, the words "dive bar" might come to mind when seeing this place, but I love dive bars. Dive bars have tons of character (usually enhanced by the characters that hang out in those dive bars) and is a real glimpse of the past and present of a community. The walls of Grant's Lounge tell that history, the pictures show the storied past and the greats who graced that stage. We often hear the phrase "if these walls could talk," boy, does it truly apply here. Grant's Lounge is a place you must visit if you are in Macon, Georgia (I also recommend a stop at Nu-Way Weiners, a hot dog chain that started over one hundred years ago). Spots like Grant's Lounge and Nu-Way Weiners are the real history of Macon, Georgia. This is the real Macon, Georgia, the soul of this southern city. These are the businesses that are the day to day existence of Macon, not just a defining moment for a history book. If you are in Macon, Georgia, you must check out Grant's Lounge (and get a hot dog and/or a burger from Nu-Way). Only than will you have truly visited Macon, Georgia and stood within its soul.
