The Back Porch in Lake Alfred is one of those rare spots that instantly makes you feel at home. From the moment I walked in, I was personally welcomed by the owner, who was incredibly warm and genuinely appreciative that I stopped in during my lunch break. He chatted with me, made sure I was taken care of, and added such a personal touch to the whole experience--something you don't get often anymore. The food is served in the cutest wooden picnic baskets, which sets the tone right away. I ordered the soup, side salad, and sandwich combo, and everything was fresh and comforting. The butternut squash soup was rich and creamy with pumpkin seeds on top, the chicken and brie wrap was pressed perfectly, and the pasta salad tasted garden-fresh with a crisp bite of veggies. What I love most is the atmosphere. You can choose to dine on their beautiful shaded porch--full of old Florida charm--or head inside to their cozy dining room if you want to escape the sun. Both spaces have that relaxed, welcoming vibe that makes you want to linger. The Back Porch is a gem: great food, thoughtful presentation, and hospitality that truly stands out. If you're near Lake Alfred, this place is absolutely worth the stop.
We recently had a meeting at Back Porch with a fairly large group, and the staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. This was my first time visiting, and I immediately loved the cozy, homey atmosphere. It felt welcoming the moment we walked in. I ordered the "Fill Your Basket", I chose a turkey sandwich, soup, garden salad, and hummingbird cake. It was a great value and the perfect amount of food. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The hummingbird cake was a wonderful sweet finish! Service was excellent from start to finish, especially considering our group size. I'll definitely be back. Back Porch is a lovely spot for a casual meal out.
I love going to the back porch for lunch!! This has become another one of my go tos when I am down in Lake Alfred!! I love the cute picnic basket style lunches they serve!! I got a special holiday sandwich the last time I was there and it was delicious! The also serve local beer and wines depending on what you're in the mood for! The service is great, and you go up to a podium and place your order. Once your food and drinks are ready they just bring it over to the table you're sitting at! Looking forward to my next lunch here!!
One of the cutest places to go especially with friends from out of town. Atmosphere, food and service is great. Happy to have this wonderful place in Lake Alfred. I had chicken salad croissant and my best friend had the turkey. Delicious
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. Not only is the establishment "cute" and clean, but the service and food were excellent. We both ordered from their minimal menu (which is a great thing to behold), as well as the ever-changing daily soup, salad and dessert. You order on a check-off sheet, deliver it to the front counter and then it is delivered to your table. The sandwiches, soup, salad and desserts were all flavorful. The price(s) were reasonable and matched the quality of the food. The staff, including the owner who greeted and introduced himself at our table, were great. You can tell they all enjoy working here. We will definitely be back (again and again, God willing).
Who knew sandwiches made in home decor shops tasted so good? The outdoor seating has a beautiful lakeside scenery. However the inside looks like a fancy tea party. It's nice, but not for people like me. The employees were super nice at explaining their interesting ordering system. You get the menu where you write your table number, choose what you want, give it to them at the front counter, and they give you a picnic basket with your food. I had the sandwich of the day, Roast Beef Press, soup of the day, French Onion Soup, and Hummingbird Cake. This place is good and unique, I highly recommend.
My family did a girls trip out here to eat and shop. I had never been here before and I was not disappointed! Starting with the drive up everything outside is adorable and was decorated for fall and Christmas. There was lots of parking available and it was busy but not overcrowded on a Saturday morning. To order here you grab a menu and fill it out at your table where they have pencils set out for you. Write your table number on top and then mark what items you want to eat and then bring it up to a cashier. The service was quick and everyone was so friendly. They have a great deal for $10.99 and it comes with a sandwich, a soup, salad and dessert. Lunches are served in the cutest little basket to your table and there is quite a variety to choose from. I had the beef sandwich that was made with a horsey sauce and French dressing and it was so so good! The tomato soup was delicious and the pasta salad was yummy too. I loved the carrot cake as it was moist and had a great flavor. It was the perfect amount of food and I loved being able to taste so much of the menu. Shopping is available in the restaurant but also at the other 3-4 stores on property. The only downfall of this place is I was hoping for some local made Christmas decor.
A very cozy and cute place. I found out about it via a foodie video on Facebook so my sister, Mum, and I made the trek from Tampa to see it. It is a truly special place. The concept of having a little basket delivered to you with goodies sold me! You get a sheet of paper, circle what you want, and then hand it off. They bring it all out to you once it's ready. It was only $10.99 for an entree, salad, soup, and dessert. Because of how good the price was, I didn't have much qualms about the portion sizes. It reminded me of when your grandma lovingly packs a lunch for you to take to school. There's no frills about it, it's just decent food.

What a truly special place! We drove out from Orlando and it 100% is worth the drive. Wonderful food and beautiful ambiance. You get so much food at a really affordable price. Everyone loved what they ordered. It's a great place to spend the afternoon relaxing, shopping, and antiquing.

Such a cute spot in a rural setting. This was my first time here. My friend selected this place for a Witches Day Out themed event for Halloween. I had never heard of this place before so I'm glad she picked this spot. Since we had a large group, they had roped off a section of the back porch for our party and even had fans placed out for us. Thankfully, it was a comfortable day outside with Fall around the corner. There is a nice view of the lake out on the porch deck. We saw fish, turtles, birds and even a baby gator. You place your order by checking off a double-sided paper menu. Prices were very reasonable, for food and drink. Take the menu and pay at one of 2 registers, inside or out. Food was brought out promptly afterwards in a white rectangular box. I noticed other reviews talked about baskets. Not sure if the cardboard boxes are used now due to COVID or if it is just a change they made. Either way, it works. I liked the simple aspect of it all. The food portions were sufficient. Not too much and not too little for me. I am usually a big eater but was satisfied. I ordered the sandwich, side and dessert for $7.97. The daily special had a Festive Chicken Salad on the menu so I went with that. It was basically their chicken salad sandwich with a little more oomph. It added apples, cranberries and a couple other things, which added interesting texture and flavor. The potato salad was good too. I went with the dessert of the day, which was peanut butter chocolate explosion. It was tasty but didn't knock my socks off, still good though. Enjoyed both the frozen sangria and the frozen peach bellini. Out of the 2 that I tasted, I preferred the sweetness of the peach. The owner was friendly and informative. He told us a little about the history of the place, with it being in his family since the early 60's I believe. It started with the antique store and added more from there. He was very accommodating to our group. Some ladies arrived a little late and the place closes at 4. Thankfully, he and his family live on the property and gave us extra time to finish our meals and take pictures at the many different photo shoot opportunities they have around their large property. Never felt rushed. Although it is a 45 minute drive for me, I need to make it out hrre again. Would love to look around the gift shop as I didn't make it in there this time around.

We had a great lunch at The Back Porch! The food was delicious, and serving it in little picnic baskets was such a cute touch. The ordering system is a little different--you mark your choices right on the menu and turn it in at the front desk, so there isn't really a traditional waitress. Someone does bring your food and checks on you during the meal. The setting is what really makes this place special. It's right on a small pond, and while we ate we saw an alligator, a big turtle, and several fish! Such a fun Florida experience. There are also a couple of neat gift shops attached, plus an antique store that unfortunately wasn't open today. We'll have to come back! Overall, a fun, casual place with good food and a really unique atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit! read more

We've been here before, but we were back again with family. It's a fun drive into the country and is surrounded by antique and other stores for those who like to shop. The food is extremely reasonable, small portions and well made. It's a pretty big bargain for a chance to escape the high dollar touristy joints and spend some time outside of the city. You can dine in or out and the whole experience is fun. If you go, the menu can be confusing. The form they give you is the menu AND the order form. You will put your name on it, select the items you want and make sure your table number is written on it somewhere. When the food is done, they will bring everything in a box for you, to that table. It throws everyone off the first time, so be prepared. read more

Our Trip to Bonita Springs WOW! We really enjoyed our visit to the Back Porch. We ordered sandwiches, sides, dessert and drinks; and, the Frozen Lemonade and Frozen Sangria were excellent (we got refills on both!) deliciously Everything was delicious and we dined outside, enjoying the day. It was a very relaxed lunch; and, we had a great time. On our way out, we shopped at the outdoor market next door, which had a lot crafts and art items, particularly for the garden and outdoors. Back Porch is the cutest rustic nature lunch spot! When visiting The Barn Antiques and all of its stores, you will find Back Porch. You can sit inside which is decorated like an inside garden, or if the weather is nice, make sure to sit outside and capture the little waterside view. Once done with lunch, go outside and you can visit and maybe see a baby alligator. I loved it here and they have a some amazing selections! read more
