We've called from different phones, different days, different times. None of it helps. Almost every call ends up with a robotic voice pronouncing a US01LV error.

'Don' was referred here by his doctor for treatment on his feet to help with severe dystonia that causes severe pain and that making it hard to even walk. His first visit was hopeful as his PT let him know he would be able to help and the first thing they would do is fit him for much needed orthotics. Next visit, PT gave him temporary orthotics and asked him to come back the next morning to receive the new ones that were being made. Next visit, examined his feet, applying pressure at specific areas that were supposed to relax his dystonic feet. When the PT was unsuccessful, he told Don that it was impossible that his feet continued to cramp and thought he was faking it. He then told him he would not be receiving orthotics because the temporary ones had not been as effective as he thought, stating, "There's no way I'm approving these to your insurance as I don't see them medically necessary." As he checked out they gave him a pamphlet on where to buy special orthotics on Amazon. He checked the website and these special orthotics don't even come out on the market for another 5 years. I will spare you the rest of this experience, including voicemails, etc., and Don's refusal to go back. Someone dealing with a neurological disorder that is physically debilitating and misunderstood disorder has a hard time with the social consequences everyday. If you don't have a clue what you are doing, don't blame your patient for your lack of understanding. It can have lasting effects on someone that isn't given a lot of hope.

I recently returned from a road trip and suffered "drivers knee" (or at least that's what I found…read moreonline when I self diagnosed myself). I was constantly in pain and wasn't sure if I would be able to squat again. I do Crossfit (don't judge me). I met Alex a couple of weeks after my trip and he figured out that it was an irritated hamstring that was pinching my sciatica nerve. He was very upfront about it taking probably 6 weeks to get better and he didn't try to push a lot of appointments on me. I've seen Physical Therapists before where they try to get you in multiple times a week, every week for months. I personally can't afford that, plus it seems like over kill. I like that Alex gave me my exercises and scheduled me out 2 weeks. That way it gives your body time to strengthen and heal from the exercises he gives you. I'm at the 5 week mark and I'm able to do 95% of everything I use to do. My knee still gets a little angry at very bent angles, but it's so close to being healed and way better than it was 5 weeks ago. I highly recommend Onward, their online scheduling is really easy and their space is beautiful.

Dr. Alex Benitez provided a clear, informative, and entertaining presentation addressing the most common problem runners face. He described simple steps that all runners can apply to reduce the frequency and severity of patella femoral pain. The presentation included slow-mo gait analysis video with live on-screen mark-ups showing common misalignment, crossover, and heal-striking problems and how to correct these issues. The clinic included revealing audience participation exercises (I need to work on quad strength!) and plenty of time for Q&A and discussion. Any Bellingham-area runners who did not attend today's clinic should look for future opportunities to join this free clinic if Onward Bellingham offers it again. I'm signing up for Onward Bellingham's Restore and Perform program to get their expert help in guiding my running training program.
