Ordered two sandwiches via telephone for delivery. When the delivery man had to wait five minutes for me to come to the front of my business building, he threatened to leave with the food. Then I opened one of the sandwiches to find it was wrong, even though the ticket had it written the way I ordered it. The food was just okay for the price they charge. More times than not, when I order from this deli they forget a part of my order. This is a huge issue. This deli couldn't bother to check that the orders were completed. If this happened once I would say no big deal, but once again this is a regular occurence. The most recent time I ordered through Slice and I was told that although they forgot I needed to go through Slice to handle it and get my money back. I was also told I could re-order after that. So as the customer I now need to run around and contact another company to try and get my money back and also pay another delivery fee. This is horrible customer service. read more

Next time you walk into this establishment check out the temperature thermometer inside of the deli meat case. When I was in there, the gauge was reading "spoiled". I did not want to get sick so I decided to not place an order. Counter girl was rude and was mad that no one else wanted to answer the phone. It's 12:00 pm, it's the lunch rush, I would suggest you have additional help available instead of someone restocking the sugar which could have been done earlier in the day. Next! At a price of $9.50 Plus Tax for a Philly Cheese Steak hero you'd think you should actually get some cheese on the hero -- Not the case ! Firstly, it took way too long to make the hero (me and 1 or 2 customers) in and out as I stood waiting for 15 minutes -- hero was poorly executed. Not properly seasoned and no cheese -- by the time I walked out I laid out $23.00 -- got home opened sandwiches and realized I wont be going back there. On the plus side they did actually put a generous amount of meat in the Philly, but it sucked without the proper seasoning or cheese. Had to experience the NY Deli scene and I must say that we loved it and the NYC Club (pastrami/ corn beef / sauerkraut) was so good. Sweet Tea was not Southern but ok. This is by far my favorite deli in Suffolk County! I've been coming here for 12 years and it has been consistent the entire time. Breakfast sandwiches here are my absolute favorite and I have yet to find another deli or bagel store anywhere near as good. The rolls are soft and fresh, the meats are awesome - not cheap crap like you get a lot of other places, cheese is always good, gooey and melty, and they are always built nicely with the perfect ratio and not slopped together like some other places I have been. Oh and they also actually know the difference between the different styles/ways to cook an egg - if you order scrambled they are actually scrambled not some mix of fried and scrambled, and there's an actual difference between over easy, over medium and over hard. Bonus ... it comes with home fries or an orange or apple juice - your choice. Lunch is great too! They have a great selection of daily specials ranging from sandwiches/wraps of the day to huge meals of home cooked style food. Never had a soup here I didn't like. But my favorite lunch items by far are their mac and cheese and their chili. There aren't words for how good they are!! Heavy and filling - total comfort food. Many of the selections would make great dinners too. Staff is friendly and really make an effort to remember their regulars. Back Country is a gem. They have a wide selection of delish food & offer delivery daily which is a plus!

In town for the week and stopped by three times for lunch. Can get a little busy, but there is plenty of staff so the wait is not bad at all. More importantly, the food was excellent - each time! Shroom burger, turkey/stuffing/mashed potatoes with veggies and finished off the week with the Chicken Fantastic. All three were winners and if I'm back in town again, I'll definitely be back! read more

Food is good when its actually done right. Don't bother calling or telling them they made a mistake on a delivery because they will just blame you and abruptly hang up the phone. You will be accused of being rude and the owner Dave will tell you "Just find another deli". Obviously they take complaints personally and when they choose to redo an order they show a lack of disrespect towards their customer. The soups are good - not sure if they are homemade, but they definitely tasted homemade. They make a solid breakfast sandwich that stands up to any good, Long Island breakfast special. Their food is great. Especially the breakfast. The staff however not so much. They aren't friendly. They don't acknowledge you are there. You can be standing at the counter and they will not say "hello" or "someone will be right with you". They definitely need to work on their social skills. read more

A great place for a lunch sandwich and soup. Fresh breads and Boars Head meats. I really enjoy the East Face sandwich. I did have a sandwich there that had a old taste, was the roast beef I believe. The sides are usually good, potato, macaroni, fruits salads, or Cole slaw. Again I have had these sides and they were not good. The hot food is ok. Nothing to write home about but decent. The mixed vegetables were pretty good, specifically the carrots. Above all else, the people working there are great. They know how to keep things moving and do it in a friendly manner. Go ahead and get in there, but my recommendation is for a simple sandwich and one of the included sides. read more
