Extremely poor customer service from Nikola today. When I arrived, Nikola was helping a party of four, so I patiently waited 5-10 minutes for my turn. After they finished, he began helping me and I asked for a sample. A group of three healthcare workers in uniform had arrived behind me, and while Nikola was assisting me, one of them interrupted to ask for a sample, then another. Instead of finishing with the customer who had already been waiting, Nikola simply shifted his attention to her. I was left standing there as she proceeded to order and he prepared her cone. The most baffling part came when the woman herself apparently realized she had cut me off, prompting Nikola to ask, "Oh, are you not together?" No. I was alone, wearing gym clothes. They were a group of three in healthcare uniforms who walked in after me. I'm not sure what about that suggested we were together--or why Nikola didn't simply keep track of the customer he was already serving. I had no problem patiently waiting while he finished with the party ahead of me. Apparently, extending me that same basic courtesy was too much to ask. I left without purchasing anything. Being accidentally overlooked for a moment is one thing; abandoning a customer mid-interaction to serve someone who arrived after them, and only realizing it after the other customer notices, is remarkably poor service. Nikola turned what should have been a completely ordinary transaction into an unnecessarily disrespectful experience. I won't be returning. read more

$10 for an ice cream cup I can lift with two fingers?! Despite the outrageous price, the gelato was good and indulgent. I got two flavors in the smallest cup, the chocolate pistachio crunch and the hazelnut and both were great. The texture was decent and the flavors were tasty. For the chocolate pistachio, I wish there was less chocolate though because they gave me a big slab in my cup and I would've preferred more gelato instead. The interior is nice and I like the baking décor. Overall, the gelato here was tasty but not worth the price. After poor visits receiving crappy customer service, my wife and son stopped in the other day picking up an order I placed. She was treated with horrible customer service by a young lady. Who made knew what she was waiting to pick up, and had them wait while helping two other customers before her. I called when she got home to talk to a manager, and "Jason" claim there was no manager there. I gave him my name and number and it's been a whole week later and no one has called me back. I'm not sure if it's a race thing, an age thing since all their employees are young adults but this place is disgusting. Stopped by Bacio di Latte and grabbed a small cup with two flavors: pistachio and vanilla caramel. Both were excellent. The pistachio was super creamy with a really natural nutty flavor that didn't taste artificial at all. The vanilla caramel was just as good, smooth and rich with that perfect caramel sweetness running through it. Together they balanced each other really well. The shop itself is clean and bright, and the gelato looks amazing when you walk in. The interior is absolutely beautifully decorated. Staff was friendly and helped move the line along quickly. The price is really amazing high too, but it is very packed in your cup so for a treat I think it is worth it. I love that they give you samples before you order. First of all, I'd love to know how a brand that owns hundreds of ice cream shops in Brazil and opened dozens of locations in LA within the last year is showing up on Yelp as "family-owned", because this feels very corporate to me, not mom and pop. Anyway, the prices aren't cheap, but I understand why. The store is beautiful, the color palette is relaxing, and I'm sure the rent isn't cheap either. Unfortunately, the gelato itself was pretty underwhelming. Not only was it overly sweet, but by the time I finished paying, it was already melting. I had to keep wiping my hands because it was dripping everywhere. I don't mind paying almost $15 for a gelato cone, but I'd at least like to enjoy it instead of rushing to eat it before it melts the second they hand it to you. This probably would've been a 2 or 3 star review under normal circumstances, but unfortunately I can't get past the fact that such a large corporate chain is presenting itself as "family-owned". read more

So I look inside and it's only half full. Absurd. The attendant was kind enough to suggest making me an iced version after I complained about the size.
