Our office recently had Bacio cater our Christmas luncheon and so this review is reflective of everyone's feedback in regards to the service, food, price, etc... We chose the Holiday Gather option Menu B, which included a green salad, side dish, entrée, bread and sweet tray for $15.00 a person. Our party included 30 people and the food was delivered for a $50.00 set up and delivery fee. There are multiple options to pick from within each category listed previously, we chose: Green Salad: Kale Caesar; hearts of romaine and lacinato kale in a classic creamy dressing with dried tomatoes, crispy capers and house made croutons. Side Dish: Potatoes Anna; layered red rose potatoes baked with butter, Gruyere cheese, caramelized onion. Baked in a bubbly cheese sauce and topped with Parmesan crust. Entrée: Lemon Herb Chicken; Marinated in white wine and herbs and brushed with a brightly flavored honey, citrus glaze.Artisan Bread; locally crafted and served with butter. Sweet Tray; Classic walnut fudge brownies, cranberry date bars with toasted pecans, lemon zip bars and an assortment of house made cookies (these descriptions are from the printed menu). We encountered some very minor difficulties but some of the problems were out of the caters control. I was notified in advance that the food was going to be delivered late, because the potatoes required additional time in the oven. I appreciated this thoughtfulness and thought that the potatoes were incredible. I am not entirely sure what the $50.00 delivery fee and set up covers, but the food was dropped off and foil lids removed and that was it. No serving utensils, paper plates, plastic knifes and folks were provided; the person who dropped off the food mentioned that this could have been arranged for an additional charge. No one mentioned this when I was ordering to begin with and I may have taken this aspect for granted as previous caters have just thrown this in automatically. General comments about the food were consistently that the amount provided was not worth the cost provided and that it was just average in its presentation.The bread was hard as a rock. The salad was good. The dessert tray was awesome. The owner contacted me following this event and took full responsibility for some of the problems that we encountered and that level of commitment to your product is extremely impressive. She explained that she stands by their product 100%. Their customers hire us because they expect the best. If this is not the case, they can rescind their charges, rectify the problems in their operations and move forward in the hopes of doing better next time. This is part of her 30 year success story! They do thier best, but there are a few times when they fail to hit the mark. read more

Bacio's carry out consists of a deli-style display case, with maybe 15 various dishes to choose from. I brought home a delicious dinner for 2 (or 3..) for under $25. I ordered the meatloaf, Anna's potatoes, and a really nice chopped kale salad. Healthy, quality take-out for a reasonable price. Can't wait to try their other stuff! read more

It hadn't occurred to me to review a catering service, but I had to see if this business was on Yelp, because after the amazing fare & service at a friend's wedding I thought they deserved a huge shout out. With a guest mix of Vegetarians & Meat-Eaters, and a few nut allergies thrown in, I found I could open an conversation with how great the food was, and how seamless and friendly the service was and the convo kept going on with everyone chiming in on their positive experience. Also, there was an amazing mix of craft beers, and I NEVER saw dishes stacked around, yet no one seemed to be "hovering." I was really happy with the next morning's gathering as well, and when I complemented the hosts, they told me it was the same folks. Now, I live down in LA, so I won't have the benefit of engaging the services of Bacio, but I've been to catered events in LA which could takes some serious lessons from these folks in Chico. I just stopped by Bacio for the first time after a recommendation from Canopy Farms to pick up a quick bite to-go for my busy boyfriend and I. The food is delicious, and I love that many of the ingredients are organically-grown and sourced locally! There are options for every dietary style, including gluten-free, vegetarian/vegan, and paleo. I am especially excited to find local paleo offerings as these are somewhat hard to come by here in Chico. Even more outstanding than the food was the service. I didn't catch the names of the three employees who helped me (Thank you SO much, you all are awesome!), but each of them went over the top to make my first experience easy, positive, and memorable. The environment, although busy and fast-paced at the counter, felt uplifting, efficient, and comfortable. The employees work really hard to create a wonderful atmosphere, leaving a lasting impression. It's hit and miss for the take out. Someday's it's fresh other day's like most recently the tomato sauce and meatballs seemed as though they had turned. Aside from the Chicken Marabella and Pulled Pork the majority of the dishes could use a bit more flavor, seasoning and creativity. Bacio Catering, located in the old Kramore Inn building, has become my wife's new favorite place to stop for dinner. With a new baby at home, she's not often in the mood to get gussied up to go out. Bacio is the perfect stop-gap between going out to eat versus preparing something at home. She's become somewhat addicted to the half roasted chicken. Other favs are the salmon cakes, pearled rice, eggplant parmesan, fruit crisp, and of course the ghost of Kramore Inn: hungarian mushroom soup. The food tastes fresh and healthy, and they use a lot of local ingredients; I saw their truck parked at the Wednesday afternoon farmer's market - a good sign. Seating is limited to three stools and counter, but it is designed for takeout. We don't care, as long as they keep making that roasted chicken. read more

I went to a wedding that was catered by them and it was the best food I've had at a wedding by far! The main dish was a chicken mirabella which is one of my favorite dishes to cook at home and they really do a good job cooking it. I just got married at Lakeside Pavilion last week and Bacios did an AMAZING job!! They have many different options and are very flexible. They also did our bartending which saved us a ton of money since we didnt have to hire a full bar, just paid for the alcohol and bartenders. Sheri was great to work with, she emailed me back so quickly and was very knowledgeable about every aspect of the wedding. The only reason I did 4 stars is because I would have liked to try the food (roasted potatoes vs mash, lemon chicken or marbella.. its hard to decide!) But they gave me a small tasting in a to go box of a couple things, their food is so good that no matter what you choose off the menu it will be good. read more

My husband and I wanted to use all local businesses for our wedding in Chico and came across Bacio's. We lived in Tempe, AZ at the time and wanted to get married in Chico where we met and went to college. (Married November 2008, I know it took me a while to write a review) First thing I'll say is the owner is phenomenal and she really worked with us, so we didn't have to stay with the typical meat, veggies, and potatoes fare. She informed us that she had recently done a vegetable polenta lasagna for a wedding (I think her daughter's) and provided a sample upon our visit. It was amazing. I still have dreams about that dish. We didn't have to worry about a variety of meats or vegetarians. Weeks after the wedding I had compliments of the lasagna they made. They also made sure we were able to sit down and eat our meal and helped with a few odds and ends making it convenient not to have a wedding planner. The only hiccup which is why I gave four stars is our tables were not arranged as planned, so the guys in the party had to rearrange them before the wedding began. I was a little peeved since I had even made an excel spreadsheet for them. Overall, I had a wonderful wedding with there help and the table hiccup rolled off my shoulders. read more

We ordered the Valentine's take out dinner on the advise of a friend and were not pleased. The dinner is supposed for two people and the quantity is very small. My wife and I don't even eat much but this was truly a portion size more appropriate for one rather than two people. The bread was basic (three small pieces of French bread, six crackers, a small container of dip, cooked vegetables that were unfavored and steam cooked very soft and a small container of butter). The cake was more appropriately sized for two people as if that was all the customer was concerned about. This was a total disappointment on what is supposed to be a memorable night and for $75 is a complete scam. The owners should be ashamed of advertising this as a complete dinner for two - more like a complete lie! read more

We had Bacio cater our wedding in May 2010, and it was simply amazing! We worked directly with Amanda the owner to plan our menu and she coordinated our event personally. From the first meeting, to the execution of the event Bacio set themselves apart. We had a vegetarian menu (including their great Polenta Lasagna and Chico Rice Salad) and our guests raved that it was the best wedding food they had ever had and that they "didn't miss the meat." Our wedding was about an hour outside of Chico and Bacio did a great job coordinating the meal, appetizers, main buffet, cake and champagne service. Amanda also coordinated all the rentals for us, which made planning a lot easier. When we were interviewing photographers and other vendors we heard it many times and it is certainly true- Bacio is the best. read more

Dissapointed that I didn't try them out as soon as they opened up down the block from where I work. Stumbled in during my lunch break one day and I was so impressed that I now go back a couple of times a week. The food is fresh and delicious. The sonoma chicken salad is the BEST! "The Sandwich" is incredible. I recommend the salad trifecta. A great way to have a little bit of everything. The staff is friendly, service is fairly quick, the interior is nicely decorated. I met with Amanda at Bacio to discuss options we had for catering services for our wedding. About a week after the meeting, I emailed her to let her know that we decided to go a different route in catering and was very sincere in my apology. She responded with an extremely condescending email telling me that we decided quickly and implying that if we were to choose a less expensive option we would be "getting what we paid for." She then went on to explain that she does not run a discount catering service, which was not at all what I had asked of her. I had also not asked her to compromise the quality of her service which was most definitely implied in her response. I was really disappointed in how she replied to me, when I apologized three different times in the email I had sent her. All in all, we decided to go with an option that coordinated more with our budget but would have recommended Bacio's service to anyone who asked us for catering recommendations before receiving her response. Now, I would have to say that our choice of not using Bacio was a choice that I am more than happy with, because I wouldn't have wanted to work with someone who spoke to me as if I was trying to manipulate their service. read more

Last month for my daughter's wedding we had Bacio supply the entree for the rehearsal dinner, cater the wedding and supply the bartender's for the evening as well. The level of service and delicious food had our wedding guests raving with compliments. All their staff from beginning to end were extremely professional and easy to work with. We were on a strict budget and they really gave us good suggestions on where to spend and where to save. Wow, I was able to cruise through the holidays with Bacio's help. The fresh salads were great additions to every meal, every potluck. The yummie turkey meatballs were a big hit at cocktail parties where everyone seems to be gluten free and watching their carbs! Love, Love, Bacio! Bacio's Carry Out food is delicious and healthy. You can pick up a quick snack, lunch or dinner. Our family enjoys Bacio at least once a week. Sometimes we get enough for dinner. Sometimes we pick up a side dish to supplement what were making at home. They have everything a family could want. Our kids love the salmon, chico rice salad, meatballs and cookies! I only go in for lunch. As a hot lunch it's nicer cuisine than other lunches so if you're sick of diner food it's a nice change. A little pricey. Chairs are very uncomfortable so I recommend getting it to go. read more

My wife frequently picks up take out from Bacio's. We like their pork sandwiches a lot, and the Chico rice salad is very tasty. Service is rather inconsistent. Orders called ahead aren't necessarily ready on time. Take out portion size varies widely. Several times my wife and I have gotten the same meal and had very different quantities. Since the price runs on the high side, greater consistency would be a plus (as the error tends toward too little rather than too much). read more

From the first day that we started planning the event, the folks at Bacio offered many suggestions on how to make our special event all that we wanted it to be. Everything including venue layout suggestions, the menu and food presentation, bar service, and their entire event exposure itself was PERFECT! They were very familiar with the venue (Patrick Ranch Museum was absolutely beautiful) and knew how to take the best advantage of what was available at The Ranch. The food was amazing and plentiful. I love the concept behind this place as an alternative to fast food. The salads are great! Lot's of veggies and just the right amount nuts. I also got the Lemon herb chicken which was very tasty. However, my complaint is the meats are usually dry. Basically leftovers. The meatloaf looked like a brick and my chicken was basically left over from a couple of days. But my biggest issue is the price. $5.75 for a side salad of this caliber is o.k. but I paid $12 for two pieces of chicken! With tax my lunch was $18 for a side salad and two pieces of chicken.
