Why 5 stars? Because this will be a go-to ice cream spot for me. --- --- --- We watched this gas station get built shortly after we moved here. Eventually Marcos Pizza popped up as well. It seemed like a very typical little mini plaza, but it turned out to be anything but that. It's now quite the food truck court, as there are several food trucks staggered throughout the parking lot, neon signs and music. Maybe you hate this, maybe you love it, but you can thank Houston's no-zoning laws for it. Either way, it grabbed my attention enough when I saw the good reviews piling in for Baciati that I knew I needed to visit soon. First off, I will say that they did a really nice job turning this into a classy spot with a pergola and some decor that's a couple steps above what you'd normally see at a food truck seating area. With those upgrades also come high end prices for the gelato, but that's okay because I really enjoyed it. I couldn't decide between some coconut gelato and something that will always tempt me: a strawberry dubai chocolate concoction. I say "always tempt me" as if this is a regular menu item at every ice cream shop. Quite the opposite, actually! But for the record ice cream shop owners of America: you should have this on your menu. Both hit the spot perfectly for me. The coconut gelato was pillowy in how soft and creamy it was. The dubai chocolate cup was addicting and I was sad when it was over. I look forward to visit #2 and many more after that! read more
