My experience with Baca's Trees is all good. First, they are such a community oriented local business, evidenced by a 2025 program of free tree trimming they offered to Albuquerque organizations including faith-based institutions. My church submitted a brief proposal and was one of those selected for a grant sufficient to groom a dozen needy trees on our site in the international district. Baca's crew was on time and very efficiently and carefully trimmed the trees and mulched the limbs removed. Their clean-up was exemplary, and at our request they even placed half of the mulch on a small public open space across from the church. That open space was also created a decade ago with significant help from Baca's, who provided many of the plants used as well as site prep and irrigation materials, all as a community service. At my own nearby home in 2020, Baca's Trees crew expertly removed two huge juniper trees planted too close to the house 65 years ago. They were seamless in their coordination with landscaping contractors in a complete re-do of our front yard, exceptional in execution and clean-up and reasonable in price. I called Baca's Trees and had them come out to give me an estimate for trimming a Fruitless Mulberry tree in my front yard. They gave me a written estimate with a detailed description of the work to be done. I scheduled with them to come out about 2 weeks after they sent me an estimate. They showed up early on the work day about 3 hours earlier than expected. That is my only complaint. I do wish they had called to tell me that they'd be arriving 3 hours early. But with that being said, they were professional, courteous, efficient, safe, knowledgeable and I was very pleased with the work they did. My husband and I have a tree to take down and got an estimate for what we considered a good price. We were told Dennis, who we received the quote from, makes his own appointments by email. We had been in contact with Baca on a few different occasions regarding trying to get this scheduled. After waiting another week to receive some kind of communication we decided that he either has enough work or doesn't need ours. We received a reasonable estimate for the removal of two trees and the trimming away from electrical wires for a third tree. A 4-man team arrived to do the work. They were awesome! They knew exactly how to climb the trees and carefully bring down limbs and finally the main tree trunk. Even the tree limbs over the electrical wires were cut so that the limbs cleared the wires with no problem. All during the process tree limbs were collected and run through a chipper shredder. They used a stump grinder on one stump and then proceeded to level the ground when that was finished. Finally, they cleaned up everywhere they had worked so that you never knew they had been there. Corkey Baca was so professional when he came out to my home and looked at our trees trimming situation. I had to make the appointment about a month in advance, but that didn't matter. A few days later I received an email quote for the work and responded right away agreeing to the price and asking a few questions. Since that time I've called, and emailed a many times asking for follow up, and an appointment date to do the work. Most have not been responded to. The few that have, came with a promise, "We'll call you in a few days to arrange". This call has never come. I've ended up working with another company. But I as a new resident of Albuquerque does Baca's Trees, not like out of state people moving to ABQ? Is it because we are a gay couple, Baca doesn't want our business? Recently we had Baca's Trees come out and remove a 75 foot row of juniper bushes that had been in place at the front of our property, between the sidewalk and the street, for more than 40 years. They had grown to extend over the sidewalk and the street-side curb. Baca's removed them and their roots. It took a crew of several guys about 2 hours to complete, led by Manuel who was very courteous. They did a great job and cleaned up everything very well; the area is now ready for landscaping. Walked in the building and said hello, only to be greeted by blank looks and silence by the three women in the office. Not knowing anyone who could recommend a tree service I called Baca because I've seen their billboards. A woman came out and said she would send me a "proposal." That was July 23 and it's almost 3 months later and I'm still waiting. Naturally I've long since abandoned the project for this year, and now the leaves are falling and it's getting hard to tell which branches are dead and which aren't. But I happened upon Yelp today and thought I might as well look for a company with good reviews and then thought to let the public know of my experience with Baca. If she or someone else decided they didn't want to do the job they should have at least let me know. I waited a good long time out of consideration for her and the other people who make their living there, but I don't think I received the same consideration from the company, and it makes me wonder how well it is run. read more

We have used Bacas a couple of times over the years, to remove trees and trim back several tall hedges. We have shopped around and found their prices to be reasonable. They are usually booked out a couple of weeks, so that is something to take into consideration when booking. My most recent experience however, we weren't in a hurry at all to get the job done and we're pleasantly surprised to get a call saying a spot opened up and asked if they could come out that week! Corky and the office staff were very friendly and helpful with answering questions I had and the guys that came out did a great job removing my hedges and cleaning up after. Terrible customer service. I live out of state and a tree landed on my roof. I asked for a follow up and received none. I asked for after photos and received none. I asked for a receipt of the nearly $400 I sent after I received their invoice and paid it promptly. There is little or no interaction with their customers via phone or email. Corky, I think was his name, straight up lied to me about his stump grinder being able to fit through my gate. He just wanted to lock in a customer and get my money. The grinder they brought to my house was at least three times the size of my gate with huge tires that would've destroyed the brick path on the side of my house. There's absolutely no chance he looked at my gate and believed that it would fit it's just not possible. Now I'm stuck with a huge stump in my backyard. If I would've known his giant stump grinder would not have been able to fit into my backyard I would never have had the tree removed. He knew that and that's why he lied to me I will never do business read more

We've been using Baca's Trees for all our tree needs. However, we will no longer do so. We were quoted a price to do each of our trees. After speaking with Camille, it was determined we didn't need to do one of them, so we scheduled just the one. We got two invoices this week, dated the same day with different invoice numbers. One had both trees with the quoted price ($160 for the one that wasn't treated and $40 for the one that was). The other had just the one tree that was treated ($110). I expected to be paying $40 since that was what I was quoted. If we had known "they don't do anything for that price" (quote from the girl in the office), I wouldn't have had it done. The girl in the office was rude and flip, not just this time, but every time I've called the office. If it were not for the great customer service of Camille and Robert, we would have given 1 star. The bill will be paid, but it will be the last money they get from us. read more

We had major damage to a large elm in the backyard. Baca's came right before Thanksgiving. Ours is a narrow street with limited maneuverability, but they managed to get the right equipment fairly close to the tree. Their removal of very high, large branches is amazing and scary. We didn't want the wood, so they chipped it all. They also cleaned up lots of other debris. This was the second or third time we hired them and they've done great work every time. And it came in under estimate!!! read more

I'll give them four stars for making a good recovery. Unfortunately, people like me who can't always get time off from work, can't always be there to evaluate the job. From what I heard they did, and what I observed when I got home, I was not very happy. I hired them to prune the tops and roots of three trees, and to treat my cherry tree for borers. I was told that the cherry tree was sprayed, so I asked the company what the tree was sprayed with and how to continue with saving the tree. Their response to this was quick and informative. Then, I was told that the root pruning crew only kicked around some rocks for a few hours and left. I observed when I got home that some branches had been pruned on each tree, and the watering emitters were installed around each tree. However, it was most important to me to prune the trees away from my water pipe and they had not done so. After about two weeks of trying to get in contact with Corky, he responded that they would return to finish the job. When I got home, they did a great job of pruning and cleaned up the landscaping around that area quite well. It was very expensive but compared to other quotes I received, it was worth the knowledge I could learn. read more

I don't think a business should be maligned by some bad reviews. While they may be true, every business has bad days now and then. You have to judge for yourself. I chose Baca's because they have been around for a long time. And I know they get large contracts, so they have the experience and the equipment to get the job done. Robert showed up a few minutes early for my estimate and quoted a fair price. The crew also showed up early a couple days later, and that was fine with me. They did not mess around and got right to work trimming all the small dead branches and a few large ones from my pine tree. It looks like it got a nice haircut from a pro. My neighbor uses Baca's Trees, so we figured 'why not?'. So, I call to schedule our free 'consult', and the next week Camille shows up, right on time. She was really professional and knowledgeable, letting me know that she would have an estimate for the work we discussed w/n three days (it was a Wednesday, so by Friday). We didn't receive a quote on Friday. I called and left a message for Camille on the next Friday; figured she was busy and maybe got behind, but still didn't hear back. I called and left message number two for Camille the following week--nothing. I called the following week and explained my situation, and I left a message specifically for a manager and was informed that it would take approximately a week to get a call back from a manager. We had an Ash tree that was about 25 percent dead from being poisoned (by us, accidentally, using weed killer, yeah, stupid, we know...) which needed to be pruned and all the dead wood removed to help improve the health of the remaining good wood. Baca's trees came out for an estimate, the gentleman that arrived was on time and friendly. We were able to discuss everything we wanted (included getting rid of a hackberry bush that WOULD NOT DIE!) and we came to a reasonable price for the work we wanted done. The day of the trimming arrived and the crew of six showed up about 5 minutes early. We took them to the back to the area of interest, showed them what we wanted done and let them at it. It took about four hours to complete all the work, almost exactly what the estimator told us, and they cleaned up most of the debris afterwards. When they were finished, the hackberry was gone (jury still out on this, we'll see next year if it grows back again) and all the dead wood was removed from both of our Ash trees, the one we poisoned and the one we didn't. The only criticism I have is that we keep our yard pristine (OK, in reality its my wife that keeps the yard pristine) and there were no sticks on the ground when Baca's Trees arrived. Granted, they did A LOT of work on these trees, there was a ton of dead wood, quite literally. But we were just a tiny bit disappointed in the amount of debris left when they were done. It'll take us several days to get it back to where it was before they arrived. Arborists arrived on time, full safety gear, quick, neat job, complete cleanup (they swept the STREET under the chipper)...you would never even know they were here, other than a monster fruitless Mulberry looking less overgrown. Tree work is inherently noisy, they minimized the inevitable, did batches, moved quickly and did such a nice job We've used them before and they did a great job then...I admit to having gone several years past when we should have had the tree worked on (we were bad tree parents) but will continue to use Bacas. Have used Baca's for last three years. Service has tremendously slipped downhill recently. Corkey Baca instructed his crew to do safety pruning of our cottonwoods and remove a peach tree. Crew instead skeletonized/severely pruned a healthy, bearing nectarine. I caught crew just as they were ready to stump the healthy nectarine ... it's severely cut back to only the three main scaffold limbs. Have called office four times and sent three emails with pictures. Corkey has not returned my calls or answered my emails requesting advice on how to care for the tree they cut severely. No apologies either for the crew error per Corkey's obviously poor crew instructions. If you use them, watch them like a hawk ... do not leave crew unsupervised! Also, their web site will not allow emails or feedback. They could care less about professional, courteous customer service! read more

We have used Baca's several times over the years for major tree jobs. These people are true professionals. This most recent order was to remove two huge branches hanging over our neighbor's roof and to cut off all the dead branches right to the top of two giant, old cottonwoods. The crew showed up on the dot and was efficient and exacting in their work. After they were done, they left the yard completely clean of any debris, and they gave us a neat stack of firewood. Our neighbors all commented on how great the trees look now, and they marveled at how the workers could get those enormous branches down so cleanly. Highly unresponsive. They put in a new tree for us-and it has not been doing well. We attempted to contact them several times without any response. When they did finally respond, we were told "it's probably the heat but we'll come take a look at it". Then they never showed up and we never heard from them again. I will be contacting another service to assist with the tree-and if it has to be replaced than we may have a bigger issue. In any event-for the amount charged (several hundred dollars) one would think customer service would be a priority. It appears it is not. Sadly disappointed. He was very professional and kind; he put zero pressure on us to choose Baca's Trees for the eventual removal of a few dead branches, but after hearing his advice, I feel comfortable with hiring this company for future work on our tree. AWESOME! I wish every company the I have to deal with was as professional, efficient, and fair-priced as Baca's Trees! I have 2 - 30 foot high silver maples with freeze damage and bores, one dead and the other with damaged high limbs. Baca's gave me a fair price, showed up right on schedule, and removed the dead tree and limbs without a hitch. 6 workers came and worked like a synchronized machine. Literally in and out in 2 hours and didn't leave so much as a leaf for me to clean up. From the office staff, to the estimator, to the arborist (yes, these guys aren't "tree trimmers", they're surgeons), every step of the process was great. Wow- I was just told by 'Corky' that they would not be able to help me, that I would have to find somebody else! This, the day after they failed to show up for an estimate appointment scheduled FIVE WEEKS prior! Corky called me about five minutes before the appointment time and said he had been delayed, and asked should he still come or would I like to reschedule? I told him no problem, I work from home and would be here the next couple hours. That was the last I heard from him, until he told me to go find someone else this morning. After his call saying he'd be here, I waited an hour, then called his cell phone and left a voicemail asking what was going on. Still no show, no return call, so an hour after that I called the office and spoke to a woman who clearly did not know what was going on, but said she would find out and someone would call me back. An hour and a half after that, still no one has shown up and no phone call with explanation; I gave up and figured I'd call in the next morning. So I called in this morning, spoke to yet another woman, who also clearly did not know what was going on even after giving my name; she comes back and gives me a story about poor cell service and bad directions. I was upset by this and told her I was having a hard time believing that after speaking to Corky and three other people in the business that I could not understand why I did not at least get a call back from SOMEONE??? Then Corky gets back on the line and with no explanation at all, tells me to find someone else and HANGS UP! Baca's Trees came well recommended to me, but after this experience, I can only assume that they feel they are so busy that they can no-show, no-call, and then blow people off for any reason at all, with no need for justification. Maybe they've done good work in the past for people, but this interaction tells another story entirely. I will be telling the people who recommended them to me about this, and everyone else I know, so no one else has to deal with this kind of treatment. Incredible. :( read more
