This is a gem of a find. 1.20 Panini and 1.00 vino. Been around for my entire life time and worth coming back again and again. You must come here!!!!!

When in Venice this is a must stop, all the local water taxi guys eat there, the locals and many many people frequent this place. Where else can yoh get two delicious sandwiches and a beer for under 9.00 Euros! Super friendly staff and the food and drinks were spot on.

Petrella D.

Cheaper than making your own panini's. Great little place, with lots of locals enjoying a break. 3 small panini's and a glass of red wine, 4.20 euro, lol. Pick up your food and eat it outside. Large selection. Wow.

I had to make my way to this little spot since I had heard so much about it. This bar literally made it to any local Venice persons blog/recommendation. So when you are on a little bar crawl, add this one. When me boyfriend and I arrived here it was packed ! It's literally I tiny spot with a counter. You don't eat or drink inside. You go to the counter, order, pay, then head outside. There's are small tables to stand at. It is along the canal so you can easily sit right on the ground near the canal. The menu is directly on the wall with glasses of wine for $.70. This is definitely the cheapest place you are going to find ! They also have different little sandwiches to snack on for $1. This is a mix of tourist and locals. The best part was that even though it was busy, they are fast ! I'm glad we got to stop in.

This was easily the most local, authentically Italian eating experience we had on our trip. We first saw this place around 1 pm and it was so packed that people spilled outside around the small square. The first time I entered the storefront to order food, I saw garbage workers and a pharmacy owner socializing. Bacareto da Lele serves Venetian Cicchetti, or small snacks/sandwiches, and wine by the glass. The workers there are kind and good-humored even to tourists (me). Sandwiches are €1 and wine costs between 70 cents to €2. I ordered a salami with funghi and a porchetta sandwich, along with a glass of white wine glera (Prosecco). I'm not a wine fan, but this was the best wine I've ever had in my life and it only cost €1. The sandwiches are unbelievable. You can do an ASMR video on their bread because they're so crunchy. I personally lean towards the salami sandwich- the mushroom complements the savory salami flavor so well. Be sure to visit Bacareto before noon; they tend to run out of sandwiches early on because it's so popular (we went the first time around 12:45 and the locals said they're out of bread). Check this place out if you're near the train station- you can get drunk AND full off less than €5.

This was a fun, local gem in Venice! Loved every minute of visiting and in short, can describe it as entertaining as heck, cheap and great place to get a small glass of wine and appetizer before your dinner. If you're not a local, you will be overwhelmed. I was until I watched what was happening for a bit. There were a bunch of people and no semblance of a line forming. Jump in, pack patience and eventually, you will get to the counter. Don't expect uber friendliness; it's so busy I wouldn't expect it. Have your money ready and basically, everything on average, is one euro. Make sure you look at the chalk board and pick from the available wine choices. I posted a picture of the menu so you can get an idea of what to look for. They also have small paper plates with snacks. The day I visited, they had a small plate with cheese, salami (I think) and crackers for one euro. There were only two people working the counter and although not too friendly, kept everyone moving in and out fairly quick. There are no tables or chairs. A few barrels are just outside the business so if available, it's a good place to set your food down. As a side note and a bit of comedy, the day I visited, there were so many people that they sprawled to the local church steps. To my amusement, a man with a hose quickly cleared this area out. For those of you from South Florida, a great way to describe this place would be the equivalent of ordering Cuban Coffee from La Carreta, on steroids. In summary, this was a fun and very local treat. So grateful to the person that recommended it to me.

I was so mad that I found this little spot so late in the game! ARGH! When in Venice, finding a good bàcari/cicchetti* spot is IMPORTANT! Why? Because it is inexpensive, usually freaking-fantastic and a good way to eat/drink a little with the locals. This bar is located VERY close to Pza Roma so if you are pressed for time it is quick and close by. At this specific spot, you could get two panini and two "swallows" of wine (see my pic) for under 4 euro... which is pretty awesome when you are completely burnt out on paying 15+ euro for lackluster pasta or pizza (Venice is very, very expensive and it is hard to find quality food aka non-tourist traps). I found this spot to be very useful for lunchtime because the summer heat really zaps your appetite (well, at least mine) and eating something small, DELICIOUS and inexpensive was a major convenience. They serve paninis in the morning and then again in the afternoon... once they are out, the food is done! So, if you are going in the evening, 530 is a good time being they close around 8pm. There are a few other spots around Venice that serve other types of cicchetti but depending on what time of year you are visiting they may be closed (for holiday, etc). So do your research and make your own CICCHETTI CRAWL! *cicchetti is to Venice what tapas are to Spain

Wine by the canal...priceless

We accidentally stumbled upon this place. It was nighttime, and was PACKED and we saw no tourists around...first plus. We approached, saw the prices on the chalkboard with NOTHING over €1.20...second plus. We nudged our way in, ordered 4 glasses of wine and 2 cicchetti...our total was around €7-8...third plus. We took our wine and sat on the steps leading into the adjacent canal...fourth plus. Spending American Thanksgiving Day on the edge of a quiet Venice canal and sipping wine...equals...5 STARS!!!

A surprisingly light meal for 2 for only 3,50 euro! I could have eaten 3 of the porchetta and mustard cicchetti!
Heather L.

Worth waiting in line! The porchetta and mustard was light and went well with the Prosecco and the cheese & sun-dried tomato cicchetti was perfect with the Cabernet.

Best cured meat and mozzarella of the trip
Eve V.

You cannot go to Venice without passing by here. Eat like a true local amongst the locals. A couple glasses of wines and two orders of the serving of cured meat, mozzarella, and mini breadsticks set us back only a few euros! And it was the best mozzarella and cured meat of the trip! Not even sure exactly what kind of meat but it was superb! The wine was called Raboso and is local to the area. Little places like this don't provide tables but just take your wine and cheese to the outside plaza to take in the view. While there, some locals who had just graduated from college were also there (I knew this based on the leafy crown on their heads which I googled to discover it's a ceremonial graduation tradition in Venice) and they all ordered the same as what we ordered. They hung out in the plaza, celebrated with Italian singing and dancing, and even had an accordion. Perfect small dishes with a glass of wine in hand and locals singing in the background. It was most definitely a Venice highlight.

Wow what a find! My fiancée and I found this on a recommendation by a friend and this place was amazing prosecco going for .90 cents! Wow and it tasted really good! It is on the outskirts of Venice itself but if you ever have a chance of running into this place I would highly recommend stopping by! I wished I could of been there all day!

Panini
Kara D.

At 5PM on a Monday this place was packed! It's easy to see why, with ombre for 1E or less and sandwiches for around the same. It's a little hole in the wall type place, without much room to do more than order. Most patrons quickly grabbed their wine and Panini to enjoy along the canal just outside the bar. Definitely include Bacareto Da Lele as part of your cicchetti tour, or consider it for a quick snack while exploring Venice.

We got all 3 sandwiches and 1 glass of Prosecco for under 4€.
Lynne W.

Mini sandwiches and cheap good wine. What more could u want? Great for a quick lunch or snack with a great view of a less crowded canal! Got a glass of Prosecco and 3 mini sandwiches for under 5€.

Upon arrival, the owner was sitting at a table drinking wine. There weren't any people dining, so we were the only ones. The servers and cooks were very attentive. We were immediately greeted and seated while our drink requests were taken. We always choose still water. Today, we decided to try a wine tasting, which included a blend of whites of reds from the region. The waiter explained in detail the type of wine, where it is made, what type of grapes it is made with, and the year it was made. All of the wines were very delicious. Italy takes great pride in their wines and rightfully so. We requested bruschetta and presciutto. We were given fresh, warm bread, which we mixed with salt, pepper, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. The bread was amazing. It had a soft, warm inside and a crunchy outside. Isn't that they way bread should be served? The bruschetta was delicious as was the presciutto. The food, wine, and service were superb. We vowed that we would return for dinner, but alas, we didn't make time to do so. This is a great restaurant!

Location is very nice, right at a pretty trendy canal, filled with lots of restaurants and bars. Right next to is an excellent gelato place. It's quite small inside with few tables, many just hang around outside - and why not, the location at the canale is a pretty spot. We did manage though to get some seats inside. Our Bulldog was very welcome here as well. The various cicchetti are presented at the counter. There are some classics of course, but also some very innovative creations. We went for the latter. There was gorgonzola with strawberry, radicchio with brie cheese, pesto topped with an anchovie and mushrooms, mashed fava beans with pulp and mashed fava with goats cheese and a cherry. All really wonderful combinations. Our favorite were the radicchio and the fava/goat cheese. Surely something to recreate back home. Staff was very friendly, we felt very welcome here. And instead of focussing on Aperol, Select and Prosecco, it's mostly about white and red wine here. And they have an excellent selection of wine. Not all cheap, but definitely worth the money. We especially loved the Pinot Nero "Terre di Giotto". A brillant cicchetti bar. Definitely a place we come back to next time in Venice.
