My situation was unique in that I was to be induced at 37 weeks, so it seemed to be more of a scheduling situation than anything. BUT, baby decided that she calls shots, I went into labor that day. She was so helpful throughout the delivery, keeping me calm, there as we pushed & assisted in the breastfeeding. After I got home & was CLUELESS, she even came to the house & walked me through it. My toddler went to her immediately and loved hanging out with her. While I was laboring she tidied up my kitchen so everything was clean for the next day for my husband. She supervised my little one while he came in to see me, and took him to another room when things got intense. He even let her put him down for a nap which I was super surprised by! My husband was able to focus on me the entire time without having to worry about the little. My labor was fast and intense so I was really thankful he was there for support. I would definitely recommend having a sibling doula from labor of love at your home birth, or if you need someone to be with your kids while you're at the hospital.
