The first time they told me children weren't allowed and then, most recently, they told my mother-in-law that they were going on lunch at 3 PM, and the kids had to leave, but then they never closed the store. This unwelcoming attitude doesn't build a strong buy local community. This is discrimination and it should not be tolerated in our downtown Salinas community. It is really disheartening that this kind of behavior is occurring.

I took a break from driving down the 101 because of terrible traffic and found my way to old town. I like a lot of the things too, but my style is a little more modern...and maybe funky? I got her a cute re-usable Lunch bag, and a tube of fancy scented hand cream, but I could have easily gotten a few more things like beautiful candles, a really nice tray, 3-wick candles, pajamas that were adorable, dishtowels, and more. If you're wondering, yes, my Mom is the sort of lady who loves to decorate her home, cook, and garden. It was hard to choose something on a budget, but the lady working was cute and nice and just let me browse without bothering me, but agreeing with me when I oohed- and-aahed over all the stuff. I also bought myself a couple of hair clips. I like stores that sort of divide their goods into themes or 'genres' and they do this here. Google maps often gets folks lost in the mountains to get here.
