Good choices of teas. We ordered two and they were both great. They ran out of the cake we wanted. Staff was friendly and inside was nice.

I've been here many times and this last trip to Rome twice (almost 3'times but they were closed one day). I love this place. I could go everyday. The imperial Earl Grey tea is wonderful. We also had the scones and the key lime tart is PERFECTION!!! Great atmosphere and good service. Charming tea house with history.

Babingtons is a life-saver! After walking the miles and miles of streets sightseeing and window-shopping, I had to take a break and headed fir this adorable corner of England. Rome, of course, has an abundance of espresso and coffee caffes so Babingtons brings tea up front and center as their offering. What a grand selection of teas that they have! Black, Green, Herbal Infusion, Special blends particular to the shop. The list goes on & on. For me today, I had the afternoon tea with the mignon (darling) cookies and a mini cupcake. It was just right! Five sweets offered; I ate the chocolate chip cookie which was delicate and crumbly, part of the coconut macaron and the spice cake mini cupcake. Yum! My tea selection was the Babingtons special blend with rose oil and an assortment of spices. Delicate in taste it was a lovely afternoon tea. The service was calm and mannerly. I chatted with the young lady serving me and she was from Southern Italy and a stage & theater actress by trade...interesting to see that in Rome, those who want to perform end up in food service just like in the USA. As I absorbed the 100+ years of history in this small shop, I marvel at its continued existence. The grandson of the founder was sitting two tables away from me working on a computer and giving periodic instructions to lead staff. I'm so glad Babingtons is here (my oasis) and wish continued success into the next decade and onwards!

A selection of gourmet flavored hot and cold teas. They have different flavored cookies and pastries. The sad thing is they didn't have my favorite macaroons. I tried their delicious beef tartare. I'm satisfied with the service and the foods here. Yes will recommend to a friend.

I love this place. It was a hot week when we visited Spanish Steps so it was good to find a tea room right beside it. We ordered some sandwiches and their Ms. Babington's special as cold iced tea and it was good! I end up buying the whole can and the staff was very helpful.

There can be a wait with no reservation, but the tea itself is AMAZING! There are many different tea options and they give a brief description of what each one is flavored with and how they benefit. Great comforting meals that are served and desserts, too!

I was seeking a more traditional english breakfast and decided to come here one morning while we were in Rome. Babingtons wasn't particularly bad or good, just expensive. We ordered a fruit salad which was I think 9 euro and it was pretty terrible. The scrambled eggs were decent and toast was, again, very expensive. Unfortunately, if you are looking for eggs in the morning in Rome, we couldn't find a lot of options but honestly, you are probably better off finding somewhere else.

We were a little taken back by the prices at first but we had an excellent time here! The staff was so kind and we really enjoyed their service. My dad ordered a salad and my mom and I had the Dorothy's Cream Tea for two. My dad LOVED his salad. He said it was perfect. He even had a grapefruit juice with it. He was very happy. My mom and I loved the Scottish scones with the cream and jam. The earl grey tea tasted a little too smokey for our liking but we mostly enjoyed it. This place has the cutest teapots ever! We love cats and cats are EVERYWHERE here! It was adorable! We really had an excellent time eating here, the prices are just a little steep.

Found this place walking around the Spanish Steps. It is very nice and they sat us right away even though we were a group of 5. Are the teas pricey? Yes, they can be, but I live near LA so I wasn't put off by the prices. We got the high tea which came with sandwiches, scones, and little desserts for about the same LA prices. It's not uncommon to pay $25-30 per person at a tea house. I found the prices comparable, but if you've never been to a tea house, I can see why some say it's expensive. It's an experience and we were willing to pay for it. The service was great and the people were amicable. Would recommend if you're in the area and want some tea. The 125th anniversary tea was great. We also tried one of the 7 teas of Rome which was the Michelangelo one.

We had the vanilla black tea. No trace of vanilla. Also the chai. No trace of chai or any flavour. €14.50 for a cup of weak tasteless tea.

Babington's offers a very nice tea service in a lovely location. The interior is cute but the tables are too close together.

Went here for the music, was completely blown away by everything this place had to offer…read more For starts the sushi was easily some of the best sushi I have ever had, it was simple but every ingredient was fresh and thought through. The edamame we had was soft and boiled/spiced to perfection. Originally we were just going to get a roll and a bowl but after trying the food we immediately got another roll. The staff was a whole new level of mind blowing. To start the waiter made us feel exactly where we belonged (even though we were a little underdressed for a classier restaurant). You could've just sat there and watched the bar tender all night, she looked like she was a professional I wouldn't want anyone else making me drinks. The atmosphere of the whole bar embodied a classic American jazz bar, even the other people and tables we were by were friendly and really added to the whole experience. Was very well worth the price and couldn't recommend any other restaurant.

A jazz club for American tourists…read more Okay, there was one Australian lady and a few Chinese. Everyone else was American. Prices are sky-high because this is a soak the tourist situation. Alexanderplatz which is the premiere jazz club in Rome charges $18 euros for a month membership - no cover after that - and $12 per drink. So once you have paid your monthly cover charge, you can hear all the jazz you want for free - or if need be for $12 euros a drink At Alexanderplatz, the performances are legendary with some of the most innovative and technically amazing musicians in Rome. We dropped over $150 euros at Gregory's. We got a perfectly reasonable yeoman guitarist. But nothing like the artistic lions that routinely perform over at Alexanderplatz. Now to be fair, we had dinner at Gregory's and we never eat at Alexanderplatz. The standard "sushi dinner" was perfectly reasonable yeoman sushi. There was so little of it that we both had to order a la carte dishes afterwards. The extra extras seriously expanded the final tab. * * * One argument in Gregory's favor: their bar is extraordinary. The bar at Alexanderplatz is mediocre. Gregory's charges top dollar for its bar offerings, but what they mix and what is in their bottles is worth every single euro they ask for. I would be perfectly happy to just go to the bar, and order a few premium beverages. I would hear my wallet cry. But I would know that I was drinking supremely well in return for my investment. Fortunately, the bar is downstairs from the club. I would not have to put up with the shenanigans in the club. * * * The problem with the club is the crowd. At most, one third of the customers are actually there to listen to jazz. The room is filled with tourists taking selfies. There are also hot-daters playing snuggle-buns. Many of them will leave mid-set so they can go back to the hotel. Gregory's is less about the music and more about selling happy memories of Rome. * * * Alexanderplatz gets a mostly Italian crowd. You are looking as musicians, music critics, academics, and all purpose artsy types - as well as normal Italian human beings who just want to hear fine music. The music is taken very very seriously. Yeah, there are usually two or three tables with good time Charlies who are doing the phone recording, party hearty thing. But this is 8% of the audience at Alexanderplatz as opposed to 70% of the audience at Gregory's. To be fair to the crowd at Gregory's, the music at Alexanderplatz is simply better. The jazz at Alexanderplatz is capable of transfixing even philistines with tin ears. Gregory's jazz doesn't put that much on the table. But the crowd at Alexanderplatz sets me up for listening to mystic, complex music with the highest level of attention and aesthetic receptiveness. The crowd at Gregory's just gets me irritated. * * * If you are in Rome with a hot date, go to Gregory's. Be prepared to shell out the bucks. * * * If you are in Rome with someone who can truly appreciate once-in-a-lifetime musical experiences, take them to Alexanderplatz. After you talk about the music for half an hour after the concert, You can still go back to the hotel. Just figure that the hotel will be the second best part of the night.
