This place is definitely one of the better options for Middle Eastern food in London. I usually get their chicken or beef shawarma rice bowl. Their portions are very generous, they always dollop on the sauces so nothing is dry (my favourite is their tahini sauce) while their pickles perfectly act as a counter-balance to the richness of the meat and sauces. Hands down the best Shawarma place I have ever been to in my life. Better than Paramount, Ozmos, Mozy's and Barakat (we will not even mention Shelby's because that place is disgusting). Everytime I go there I always get the rice plate and it fills you right up for a more than reasonable price. I would recommend the chicken rice plate! Food 5/5 - as I said before, the best Shawarma I have ever had in my life. The chicken is nice and soft, yet crisp and not-dry. When I get the rice plate you can choose between rice, potatoes or paprika potatoes and you can even have a little bit of each or half/half. I've gotten the gyros before and they were really salty, but you can't go wrong with the chciken. My only real complaint is that if you are going there for the first time and not the biggest fan of sauce, ask them for half sauce because they literally drown the whole thing in sauce. Be sure to try the spicy garlic sauce though, if you are a fan of hot stuff. Service 5/5 - very friendly staff, quick and efficient. Not much to say because it is not a dine-in type of restaurant. Price 5/5 - I mean compared to anything else you can get in the University area, this is definitely the best place to get food. The price of a chicken rice plate is roughly $10/11, and by the time I finish the whole thing I am extremely full. The food tastes great and the price is definitely worth it. read more

Such amazing service! I've been to Babaz before, but it's been a few years since I'd gone back, so after a long morning of school, I thought I'd bus over and treat myself to a late lunch. When I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly young man (the cook) who recommended some dishes to me. I chose the Kafta plate (or platter?), and was told that it would take 7 minutes to cook. But after waiting for 20 minutes, I asked the cook whether the kafta was ready yet, and he said it would be ready soon, and apologized for the delay. I absolutely did not mind the delay at all, but I was very pleasantly surprised when the cook offered me a free bottle of water, free side of fries, and 4 extra pieces of kafta in apologies for the delay! I was stunned! I didn't expect any freebies, but this just proves that this restaurant cares about their customers a lot! While eating my delicious food, I saw several customers walk in and out, and they are greeted like family. I will definitely return in the near future to try out some yummy new dishes and continue my support for this kind restaurant! read more

Babaz is a classic shawarma spot frequented primarily by students. It's located in a great location right at the corner of wharncliffe and oxford and has a parking lot, making it convenient for drivers. I've only ever had the chicken shawarma rice bowl but that's because it's THAT good. They give you rice, chicken shawarma meat and the option of potatoes. They also ask about what sauces you want, which are all amazing. I get the tzatziki, garlic and homemade hot sauce, which I think is a fusion between hot sauce and their garlic sauce. The price is reasonable and the employees and polite and prompt. They do also have a seating area but from my experiences, it seems like most people opt for takeout. Babaz is also open late which is always a plus! Don't let the exterior fool you, this is a great spot for a quick and cheap meal. read more

Chicken Shawarma, Whole Wheat pita, hold the onions and tomatoes, rest of the veggies + a ton of peppers :) fab. The garlic sauce is delicious. Always get extra. Toasted. Or the platter with the rice and potatoes. I'll admit the potatoes have a serious lack of salt ( some seasoning) but the extra sauce makes it up. Get some Tabouli :) that is fab. I have never been here before but the food here is very good! They offer souvlaki, Shwarma, kabobs, gyros and more. I had the chicken souvlaki rice bowl, it comes with chicken, rice or potatoes (or some of each) and your choice of sauces hummus, tzatziki or garlic. I had garlic and tzatziki. It was prepared fresh in front of us. The chicken was tender and delicious and the potatoes ( lemon and garlic) were nice. You can also get paprika and oregano. You can have a rice bowl, wrap, or a meal. Mild or very spicy depending on your heat preferences. The service was friendly and not fast but only because your order is being assembled and It is worth the wait! read more

Really bad customer service. Waited 5 minutes to have my order taken while I was the only one there and they clearly weren't busy at the time. Then they put my shawarma in the grill to heat it up, but then walked away... leaving it in there for about another 4-5minutes, making it extremely hot. Ordered a falafel and shawarma for dinner last night. The mains were ok but the rice was inedible because it was so salty and i love salty food so that should say alot. Ordered garlic sauce and got honey garlic. Everything was cold AF but im willing to blame a slow driver for that one. Disappointing overall. read more
