Everything was good but disappointed that they serve rice and not fufu. Overall a 7-10.

We had the traditional plate with selections that included the yam, egusi, and beef for protein…read more Waited about 10 minutes for prep and I was excited to try some authentic Nigerian food! The collared greens was tasty, the yam reminded me of Hawaiian poi that was starchy and earthy. The beef could've been cooked better, though. It was really hard and tough to chew: I was a little disappointed. If the beef had been served tender and juicy (soaked in the collared greens sauce) I would've given 5 stars only because I don't think it was worth what we were charged for our dishes. Two pieces of beef that wasn't serving standard in my honest opinion. The store front is located in the food court of the Moreno Valley mall. There's a lot of dining tables and chairs throughout the food court and other food shops surrounding the dining court. There's tons of parking spaces and the mall wasn't very busy so parking is easy. I love African food and compared to my favorite spot in San Diego, this one is not on my list to revisit, unfortunately. Not for the price or quality.

Serious food safety issue - people could get sick eating here…read more I was served undercooked chicken. It was not fully cooked on the inside, which is extremely dangerous and could make someone seriously sick. The food also looked like it had been sitting out, and overall everything felt unsanitary and careless. When I brought this to the owner's attention, she laughed and didn't take it seriously at all. No concern, no apology, no accountability. That alone is alarming when you're talking about raw chicken being served to customers. On top of that, I paid $4 for a drink and the employee told me they weren't allowed to fill it up because the owner said not to. So you're paying full price for half a drink, while being served unsafe food. This place shows zero care for customers or basic food safety. Please protect your health, save your money, and stay away from this restaurant.

With that being said- GS Cafe and Ethiopian food is run by a mother and son duo. They are prompt and efficient but just be aware they are running the entire thing so there can be a wait for food especially when it's busy. There's seating for at least about 30 people here. And the parking lot is shared with many establishments in the same center so there's plenty. Nestled on a quiet main street, you can find authentic Ethiopian food. We ordered the #14 combo plate as it was our first time- shareable up to 2-3 people. It had a mixture of 80 percent of their menu (as the son who was taking our order put it) The amount of injera (somewhat of like a sourdough crepe) they gave us was plentiful. There was even a side basket with atleast 8 more pieces that I forgot to take a picture of. I appreciated this meal and loved the veggies. None stood out to me but I will say all were flavorful, healthy and a delight to eat. The beef and chicken were dry in my opinion but the sauce helped. I'm glad I tried this place and it was an enjoyable enough experience. Don't let my review deter you from trying it yourself as this place was pretty full when we were dining in- so try it for yourself!

The building has three different sections with different names, themed for what one is looking for... for example... the live music area is called... Ivan'z House Live Music Club. There's a rooftop area that is also a different name, all are part of Mozambique. We went on a Friday and it was packed. We were sat in one of their private rooms that overlook the downstairs main area. The room was intimate and much quieter than the main dining room. The whole place has a great vibe to it. Walking in, you are greeted with a huge bird cage with exotic birds. The decor is really cool and the smells of the food make one instantly hungry to try everything. The service was prompt and the staff was very kind. Now... the food. Absolutely delicious. The menu has a variety of tempting items on it, however, I wanted to try the South African food and it did not disappoint. We had somosas as an appetizer and I had the South African pie. My husband had the steak and lobster. Everything tasted amazing. We ended with a delectable dessert and a cappuccino. Afterward, we went to the bar and saw the live band setting up. Also, a cool place with a nice stage. We will definitely be back and bring the family. Thank you Mozambique for a great night.

We were escorted to our table by our server and proceeded to look over the menu. Distracted by conversation my friend knocked his silverware onto the floor, we realized there was a busser nearby cleaning off another table, so we kindly asked if we could get a new set of silverware. I saw her name tag said Alicia as she turned and gave us a nasty look, responding with something along the lines of "I am not responsible for your table, if you need something ask your server not me!" Shocked and embarrassed (since I chose this restaurant to give my friend the luxurious Laguna Beach experience) we apologized for interrupting her. Unfortunately it didn't stop there, she rudely scoffed at us and walked off angrily. We were both caught off guard and tried our best to enjoy the rest of the night. Unfortunately that wasn't it, we were trying to enjoy the night and move past the incident when we noticed that she gave us multiple angry looks through the rest of the evening. We finished our meal and left, I apologized to my friend for what had happened and promised to take him to another restaurant during our trip to make up for the terrible experience we had with Alicia. I love Mozambique and dined here on a semi frequent occasion.. unfortunately I have a bad taste in my mouth for this restaurant now, and won't be returning for a while because I would hate to have another experience like this again.

The egusi was amazing and the fufu ball was perfect consistency, light and moist, a wonderful cloud to accompany your egusi. The egusi was my favorite, but the rice, fish and plantains were good too. There are plenty of tables, seating and parking. I loved the small but private parking lot. There is pretty are on the walls and a TV playing if you want entertainment. The ambiance is peaceful and tasteful. Service was kind and friendly. There was a man who was very helpful and considerate of our lack of knowledge. He made recommendations and we asked for low spice--and the spice level was perfect in the egusi! The egusi had just enough spice for flavor but not too much to ruin out meal for us (spice wimps!). We are thankful. This weekend we were just passing Long Beach, but we will definitely return again, looking forward to more Nigerian food - worth the trip just for the food. Everything was super delicious. We would definitely come back, excited to try the beef Patties in the future they were sold out when we came. Highly Recommend to others!
