Rude Jerk Kitchen - Oxtail plate... - Caribbean Near Me - Ontario, California

Wow, first and LAST time ever coming here!!! I've been meaning to try this place for months since I drive by it on my way to work everyday but maybe I should've just kept driving, lol. The customer service is horrible. I walked in and some guy with a rasta headwrap, who I'm assuming was the owner gave me a dirty look while the cashier barely acknowledged me. It was already giving big weirdo behavior, especially with how empty the place was, like you really should be grateful for any customer, but okay. Then, to top it off food was also horrible. I got the oxtail plate with rice and peas, yams, and jerk wings. $50 BOMBCLAT dollars just for the oxtails to barely have any meat on it, the rice and peas were oversalted like all high waters, and the "jerk wings" were so tasteless I could barely finish one. I had to douse it in hot sauce to even consider eating the rest because the "special sauce" they gave me was also tasteless, the hell!?? To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement because I usually have to drive to LA to get food Jamaican food. read more

Rude Jerk Kitchen - In what world is this a $40 plate? - Caribbean Near Me - Ontario, California

Visited Ontario restaurant 1day ago. I was greeted when I entered. Was told they were out of plantains and another item. I can understand, it was 6pm. Some Jamaican restaurants I have visited in other states do run out of items at end of the day. Ordered Curry Goat and Oxtail plates. Plates were priced close to what I have paid in Florida and Georgia. Patties price is higher. Had to FaceTime my son-in-law and daughter for review. My son in law is Jamaican. Portion size of both plates were generous. If they could figure out a way to control the Thyme and Allspice would be great!! Would like to just dig into my food without picking things out , would be nice. May be wrap in cheesecloth ?? Flavor on Oxtail were good. Tender. Curry Goat was tender , as it is tricky to cook. Curry Goat could have use a little more "kick", but that's just me. I really don't like hot sauce. Sides were good. Yams and cabbage mix. The only bad , if it's that, was something was a little salty. Sampled everything while hot. Salt may have settled in the "gravy" , that was spooned over peas and rice. Over all , good food , nice portions and reasonably priced. read more

Great service and good food! Our favorite was the jerk chicken, very flavorful. The oxtails were good, just be mindful of the small bones. The candied yams were delicious, and the rice and peas satisfying. The restaurant is clean, welcoming ambiance, limited seating, a bit warm inside, however we placed our order to go so that worked out. This was our first time ordering here, and we'll definitely be back. Be sure to try the chicken and beef patties, they were both very tasty! read more

We ate here a little less than two weeks ago because we were in the area and saw this place had good reviews. The lady who helped us out was friendly and attentive. The food was so good, very flavorful. A plate was enough to feed two people and we even had some left. The prices were more than reasonable for what you get. I'm curious to try the beef patties I would definitely recommend this place. read more

I was in the Ontario Mills mall and saw a sign that said a place was selling Jamaican oxtail when I drove by. I went around two and it was busy, tables were filled so many people had their order to-go. The day I went, they sold out of the oxtail, rice and peas, and meat patties. I chose to try their small jerk chicken plate ($19.56) along with sauteed cabbages and their last order of peas and rice. They do have some Jamaican hot sauce bottles, the scotch bonnet was tasty. The jerk chicken was moist and the skin crispy, it was seasoned well and cooked well. The sauteed cabbage was good. The staff is nice and the place is clean. read more

I did a double take when I saw this restaurant while passing through the busy main road, their colorful flag screaming oxtail, I knew exactly what was opening there and was so excited to try it! It's only been a few weeks since opening and I'm so happy to see how busy it was. Because it's a new establishment, I recommend you going early or possibly ordering ahead if possible, when we went later in the day, understandably they were out of a few items including the oxtail and ackee/salt fish. We ordered the curry shrimp and the jerk chicken (L) as well as a chicken pattie and the banana pudding. There's a variety of Jamaican sodas you can try and a vanilla milk drink called Irish moss. The friendly women at the registers were so nice and made some really great recommendations. Kudos to the chefs! The jerk sauce is really delicious! It has the perfect amount of spice and with that bbq sauce over the chicken was fantastic. Chicken was moist and their steamed veggies were also pretty dang good. Curry shrimp is very subtle compared to Asian curries but it was really good. Those plantains--heavenly! I can eat three servings of those! They are soft with the perfect amount of sweetness that balances the meal really well. Generally I appreciate the portion size of the meals, they definitely didn't skimp on the shrimp and I was pleasantly surprised. Seafood is cooked fresh to order so it might take a little longer. Their banana pudding is cold, buttery, smooth and such a good way to end the meal! We definitely want to come back to try the oxtail and ackee/salt fish but we're so happy we came through to Rude Jerk Kitchen! Authentic food and wonderful service. read more

We wanted something to grub on before we headed to Legends Tap for some brews. We saw Rude Jerk and decided to give them a try. Omg so happy we stopped here. The service and food are top notch! We we're greeted with a warm welcome and given a menu to look over. I love that they didn't try to rush us at all. The hubby and I decided to grab two entrée plates to share. He opted for the oxtail with rice and peas (rice and red beans) and rasta pasta. Oxtail only comes in large entrée. I opted for the small entrée of Jerk chicken with rice and peas. ( rice and red beans) and plantains. Also got a Jamaican beef patty. The oxtail are tender but not mushy cooked to perfection and taste so damn good! Jerk chicken was delicious but wanted some more heat. Like some super heat lol I even put the house hot sauce on the table but still wasn't hot enough. The plantains were mid. (Too hard and little flavor) The Jamaican beef patty was good hubby said it was a little to wet inside for him like mushy but I enjoyed it. The rasta pasta was good reminded me of a spicy alfredo. The rice and peas ( rice and red beans) were bomb. Im serious I could eat here all the time it's really good! It taste like someone's granny cooked all day long with so much love! I believe the Jerk BBQ master came out to our table to ask us how everything was. We let him know it was so good! Most definitely recommend coming here and showing them some love! This is the 2nd Rude Jerk they originally opened the 1st one in Perris CA and now this one in Ontario CA back in May 2026. We wish them so much success! Seriously can't wait to go back and try more!!! read more

Great upbeat atmosphere and good customer service. The food plates we had were amazing and generously portions. We ordered jerk chicken, curry chicken, and the off-menu veggie plate. Both chicken proteins were fall-off-the-bone tender, steamed veggies were butter-bomb-diggity, plantains perfectly charred, and the yams were Thanksgiving-esque. There's only about 6 tables of interior dining. read more

I visited Rude Jerk while visiting Ontario, California. I'm a South Florida native and first generation Jamaican American. This is by far some of the best Jamaican food I've ever had. The halal spin is something I've never experienced - you can taste the difference. We had jerk chicken (had to do it - it's in the name) and brown stew fish. . 10 out of 10. No notes. read more

I ate here again This is an update to customers and also the restaurant employees. Be very, very careful with the rice that you make for us customers. Every bite I took had some kind of rigid, sharp-edged, bone chip fragments or whatever they are. There was even some inch-long rigid, thin stick. You don't want to accidentally swallow any of that nor would you want your kids to either. That would be quite horrible and dangerous!!! read more

I went to the Ontario location for the first time to support it, great customer service, nice & clean inside. I usually go to the Perris location. Wings are always consistent. That food char and flavor. I arrived about 30 minutes before my appointment, but when I got there, they weren't ready and had no chicken ready yet. I went back to Corona for my appointment, then returned afterward. I called ahead to check if the chicken was ready, and the staff member was kind enough to hold my order. I ordered jerk chicken wings and a side of jerk chicken. However, as soon as I got in my car, I noticed a very strong lighter fluid. type smell. When I opened the food, the wings were the main issue. It's like the cooked squirted the lighter fluid on the grill as the chicken was cooking & gave it a lighter fluid bath. Gave me an instant headache. Not edible at all! When I got home and tried to eat them, I couldn't. The taste was overpowering and reminded me of lighter fluid, and I ended up unable to eat the food at all. I reached out to the owner to explain my experience. I mentioned that I normally support the Perris location and was disappointed with the Ontario location's quality. Silly of me to think he would think of a better solution on his own. Instead of receiving an apology or any offer to correct the issue, I was told they are new and still being trained. There was no acknowledgment of the inconvenience or loss of my money. When I asked if I could bring the food back for a replacement or better quality, he said "take them back to Ontario, I'll be there" that was a hard pass. I don't even live near Ontario so why?? He didn't care. Overall, I left feeling disappointed in both the food quality and the customer service experience. I was genuinely trying to support the business, but this experience made that difficult. I'm Sure he won't care, because if he did customer service would have been a lot better, but I will not be back to either location. read more

During my first visit to Rude Jerk Kitchen, I ordered the Veggie Pattie, Curry Shrimp, and Jerk Shrimp entrees. I am grateful that the Veggie Pattie did not have greens peas in it. Spinach is the sole vegetable inside. While I do love spinach, there needed to be something else added because the flavor profile was very one-note. The shrimp in both entrees was cooked perfectly. The shrimp were plump, hydrated and flavorful. The two sides we tried were the plantain and Rasta pasta. The plantains were perfect and I loved the cut on them (I'll have to try that at home). But the cook on noodle in the Rasta pasta was too soft. They were genuinely one step up from mushy. While waiting for my food, I sat at one of the tables. The tables were clean and wiped down. There were music videos playing in the background, which softened the waiting process. However, if someone is sensitive to noise, I recommend having noise-cancelling headphones or something while you wait. Overall, I'm really glad I tried it, and that we have a Jamaican Kitchen in Ontario. I'm excited to see how this place grows. read more

It was worth the wait! I called in my order, Escovitch Red Snapped Rice and Peas steamed vegetables, and a side of jerk chicken no sauce. The fish was beautiful. There was enough in that tray to feed 3 people. The fish was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The jerk chicken took be back to Ochie sitting around the outdoor pit. Just delicious my mom had a vegetable patty the she said was delicious. The place was very busy for a Sunday the staff was professional and nice. I was happy to wait because I know my fish had to be cooked fresh, and it was. I would highly recommend this restaurant. There is a small eating area indoors. I will definitely be back. read more

Excellent customer service. The stewed chicken plate was absolutely delicious! I can't wait to go back.

So. As a certified Yelp Elite Squad member I had high hopes for this place. This place runs out of food A LOT. My sister had told me about this place and they were going to go but I had called about a month ago and again RAN OUT OF FOOD. I'm assuming the owners son or just owner who was walking around with his durag did not greet anyone or say hello and was giving RUDE JERK, he was just walking around and looking at everyone giving much pride and ego .. quality customer service begins by greeting your customers. Ari who was the cashier was very sweet and communicative. Also, running out of food is an internal issue this place either is not budgeting properly or doesn't have enough money to go around to handle the demand of their product. Patties are outsourced (looked like Golden Krust) Banana pudding is great !! Also, the jerk chicken is just bbq chicken ... literally not authentic where's the all spice? Anyways we won't be patronizing again I'll continue to drive to Pomona and LA for quality food. thanks but no thanks. read more

The food was well seasoned. I enjoyed the flavor of the oxtail, even though I feel like the ox my tail came from was on ozempic or something. The rice and peas were yummy nice spice, rice cooked well. I wish I had less rice and more oxtail tbh especially for $33. The plantain was cooked nice as well. As for the environment, in this heat if y'all not gone have the AC boostin y'all need ALL the fans on! it's so hot and it wasn't really enjoyable to eat inside when it just as hot as it is outside. Service was alright. I would try something again and recommend someone to try y'all out. read more

Saw this place on social media and I had to give it a try. So glad we finally have food like this by me. Walked in, everything looked clean, staff were nice and attentive. The music playlist they had going on definitely fit the vibe. I decided to try the oxtail plate and jerk chicken plate. I also saw they had patties but I didn't want to get too much for my first time coming here. Our food was ready within 10 minutes probably less. Line wasn't that long ahead of us. When I say both plates were soooo good and full of flavor. The oxtail plate was tender falling off the bone I highly suggest you try the rasta pasta for a side, A LOT of places can't get the taste or texture right... this place got it RIGHT!!!! Rice and peas were even good with the plantain. Portion sizes were huge, had leftovers for the next day. I have no complaints about this spot. Definitely have to come back. read more

Rude Jerk Kitchen's brown stew chicken was delicious! The rice and peas was bomb and the plantains were good as well. I thought the food would take like 10 minutes, it definitely took like 30 minutes. So don't go here if you are in a rush. They have sit down area with 4-5 tables. As for the service, they greeted me, and were friendly. Not overly friendly like chick fil a or anything lol so don't expect that. I'm very very very happy this new location is open. I've been getting their food from their Perris location. Now they have one in Ontario, this will become my regular go to spot. The food is amazing and it starts with the owner and his staff. They have great customer appreciation and treat us as such. The new location has more dining space. Now you can grab a bite to go or sit and have some delicious ox tails, beef patties or jerk wings (my personal favorite). The Brown Stew Chicken is very good too. I like the rice and peas too. I could go on and on but I'll save that until I try some other dishes. I'm sure they won't disappoint!! S/O to the Latina who works up front from the Perris location. This was my first time enjoying an authentic beef patty in the States. In the past, whenever I visited Caribbean restaurants, the patties were either unavailable or appeared to be pre-packaged and reheated. Here, the beef patties were fresh, flaky, and served straight from the oven. The customer service was exceptional, and the restaurant was spotless and well-maintained. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food. read more

I have been here a couple of times. Tried their jerk chicken, brown chicken stew, curry chicken, goat curry and chicken patties. Meat always tasted fresh and cooked to perfection. Only thing I would change is the salt level. It's on the higher side especially for the curries. Otherwise great spot for some very flavorful Caribbean food. Honestly, ordering from this place is frustrating. I've been here four times, and all four times I've gotten there just to find out something I already ordered and paid for was unavailable or they stopped making it for the day. No call, no text, no warning beforehand even though they have my number. They just wait until you show up. The lack of communication is incredibly unprofessional and makes ordering ahead completely pointless. read more

I've been to Rude Jerk Kitchen multiple times, and every visit has been worth it. The jerk chicken is always flavorful, juicy, and seasoned just right. Paired with the rice and peas, it's one of my favorite meals on the menu. The oxtails, are tender, rich, and full of flavor. You can tell the food is made with care and stays true to authentic Jamaican cooking. One of my absolute favorite items, though, is the Sorrel Juice. It's refreshing and honestly one of the best juices I've had. I find myself craving it even when I'm not thinking about food! Overall, great food, great flavors, and consistently good experiences.
