All the way through the meal we had to put up with the most annoying door alarm that I can only describe as that of a rape alarm. Every time the door opened it screeched it's agonising cry announcing to all the arrive of the next guest. I am genuinely sad about my experience because the decor is modern and well thought out and the food wasn't bad, the price was reasonable, but the service was unacceptable. Iroko Bar & Grill is a place with three distinct sections. Downstairs is the place to party with a DJ, dance area and bar. When we went there, there was a large private birthday party and they looked like they were having a great time. The restaurant is on the ground floor with a large bar and on a further open mezzanine level. Iroko has its roots in West Africa with wooden sculptures around the place to reflect this. I had the pepper soup to start which was packed full of roughly chopped lamb and spiced with chilli and peppers. I ordered the Iroko Seafood Skewers but there was a mix up with my order and an alternative was offered. I plumped instead for the Caesar salad which was fresh and tasty. My boyfriend had Suya to start which was a marinated rump steak served with tomatoes and onions and Jollof for his main dish, a rich, red spiced lamb curry served with fried, spiced red rice. We also shared fried yam which was like a flourier and denser version of potatoes. The bar element was getting progressively busier during our meal and we were tempted to stay for a boogie. As we left the manager told us that they are going to be reviewing their menu ready for a fresh approach in the autumn.
