I went here for DineLA with 2 of my best friends and it was the evening of August 25, 2026. Parking was difficult but it's LA and that's a given. When we came in, because we were late to our reservation with parking being a factor we were told there was valet outside the restaurant but didnt see signage or an attendant. But they said they do have valet! Our host and server were wonderful and honestly kicked my review from a 4 star to a 5 star. I am a vegetarian and my 2 friends are not. The DineLA menu was very versatile and I appreciated the vegetarian options provided for me for that menu (since a lot of places this year were not as accommodating). I am beating myself up for not remembering our host and servers names but they were absolutely fantastic!! (Working thr evening of 8/25!) I love Indian food because I love love love spicy food and the flavors and they had Thai chili peppers which is always a treat for me. The ambiance of the restaurant feels like next level luxury. Let me just start by saying that the food is a solid 4. However, the service just really knocked it down for me. It was INCREDIBLY slow, like have never been to a restaurant with service this slow. It was crazy because it was relatively busy right at opening which was when our reservation was. We decided to do the tasting menu for $55 per person which was a great deal for how much you get to try. The starter and small plates came fast - like within 10-15 minutes of us ordering. The Dahi Puri was soo yummy and refreshing - wish it came with more than one. For the small plates, we got the Cauliflower 65 and the Lamb Keema Hyderabadi. We enjoyed the lamb more but both were still yummy. After this, we waited about 45 minutes for our mains to come. By now, 75% of the tables we could see were gone. We got the Traditional Butter Chicken and Beef Short Ribs with Saffron Rice and Garlic Naan. The butter chicken was great and the beef short rib flavor was really nice too but the amount of meat is very little in this one. The naan was delicious and had great garlic flavor. After we were done, we waited more than 30 minutes for dessert. Literally every table that was there when we entered was gone. Very few people had come in after. We had to ask them to pack/clear our table because they just were never coming and even after clearing out the table, I had to ask them later again when we were getting dessert as it was just so insanely slow for literally a restaurant being 80% empty. In the end, we spent 2 hours 15 minutes there which may not sound too crazy but that was with us pushing them twice. It felt like if we didn't start asking, we would've been there for almost 3 hours. It was just very strange because the pacing was soooo off. It started off fast and great and then just dropped off as if we were forgotten. What a great addition to our long weekend in LA. Baar Baar was a quick walk from our hotel so we thought we would give it a try. I immediately loved the atmosphere when I walked in. We also experienced wonderful service during our visit. Our server was very helpful with making suggestions on what to get. We decided to get a few things to share, starting with the highly recommended Dahu Puri. It was so interesting and wonderful. We also did the chutney set with the crisps. This is much deserving of the five star and if I could I would give it a 10 star. This place had some of the most delicious food I have ever tasted with an explosion of flavor with every bite. The waiters and waitresses are very kind and very supportive while you are eating and do a great job checking up periodically to make sure things are going well. Baar Baar has been on my list for some time, lets dive in. Located in DTLA, the restaurant sits at the base of luxury apartments and offers Valet service to ensure a smooth check in process to your reservation. Valet is reasonably priced. Warm greeting from the hostess at the door made my boyfriend and I feel very welcomed as soon as we stepped inside. The inside is a stunning emerald green(my personal favorite color) and the light fixtures make it an elevated luxury dine in feel. Their outside area did not look like a dining area when we passed through it but it looked very well kept. Came in to enjoy what DineLA menu they were offering, priced between $45-$55 (I can't quite remember the price point but VERY reasonable). To start they brought these small Beet Bites, very nutritious and actually tasty. Garnished with mint & cilantro chutney. Good texture and wakes up the right taste buds. Chicken Malai Tikka - tasteful but an odd texture. The bedding to the dish made the chicken seem less dry which was a plus. Kashmiri Duck (Birria) Taco - very interesting, the duck was in between gamey and just right. Not something they can control its just a unique protein to put into a quesadilla type taco served with their version of Birria. Im mexican I know Birria. Funky but fun. Butter Chicken - Cheffs Kiss all the way. We both opted in for this as our mains and paired it with garlic naan and basmati rice. Good portions all around. Protein portion could be improved but overall a fair dish for the price. Gulab Jamun Cheesecake (saffron pistachio ice cream) - was rather interesting. I was not a huge fan of the ice cream but the cheescake was very refreshing on the palate. Ragi Brownie - 5/5 perfectly paired with a chocolate scoop of ice cream. Melted in my mouth. The only detail pulling me from giving 5 starts overall is that it didn't seem like our server made any attempts to connect with us, mind you we went during the week and it was not very busy. Baar Baar is easily one of my favorite Indian restaurants in LA--I just wish Downtown were closer to the Valley (where I live) so I could come more often! Came here for Dine LA week. The cocktails are fantastic and creatively presented, and the food is packed with flavor. The beetroot chop canapé was so good I could've eaten a dozen. I especially loved the duck taco, lamb chapli kebab, and Beef Madras Shukka, which was probably my favorite dish and paired perfectly with the garlic naan. We also tried the butter chicken and sea bass--both good, though I personally preferred the bolder flavors of the beef. All three desserts were great, with the gulab jamun cheesecake winning for me. this place had great albeit dark ambiance and attention to detail. the drink menu was so creatively done. for me, i prefer cheaper and more authentic indian spots. they always have more flavor than these upscale places. the meat was so tender but the sauces were all a bit similar. we were told one was coconut and spicy but it tasted no different from the others. just a piece of meat surrounded by sauce with few other ingredients. and you need to buy rice. it felt uninspiring to me and one-note. i wod prefer a lot more textures, flavors, and ingredients, especially for the price. $200 for three people without any drinks. just felt underwhelming for me. my boyfriend, on the other hand, said he was excited the entire meal. he loved the lamb. read more

We had our wedding reception at Baar Baar. We wanted an intimate event with about 30 of our closest family and friends. The priority for us was good food and beautiful ambiance, and we got so much more. The planning process was very smooth, Jyoti was very helpful in helping us create a menu with plenty of food and to organize when everything would come out. She also hooked us up with her flower vendor who was incredibly talented, flexible and reasonably priced. The private event space is gorgeous. It didn't really need much, we only added flowers. They re-opened their brunch dining which yay I loved going there before, bud boo they got rid of my favorite lamb burger. The new brunch menu has some great new additions with the uttapam and they kept their selection of egg dishes. But I'm so heartbroken at the loss of the lamb burger I loved getting here. The owners went around and spoke to patrons and I was too shy to tell him that I missed off the menu. Maybe another time lol. The brunch duck tacos didn't skimp on meat or flavor, but I'd probably come back for the uttapam. The ambiance is very modern and elegant. We were immediately greeted by the owner and were taken to our booth. It was my birthday, so we received some special treats from the staff (champagne and dessert). I'm not a big fan of Indian food, but last night My Mom said she was craving Indian curry, so we went out for dinner. The restaurant is right near our home, so we walked there. The food was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was lovely, every dish was delicious, and everyone was very kind and friendly. The presentation was lovely as is rhe decor of the restaurant but the creativity didn't always translate into flavor. The cauliflower 65 was our favorite from the night. Good flavors and nice texture to the gobi. The avocado bhel was a stretch. It tasted more like guacamole with a few crispy wonton on top to make it a "bhel". The sweet potato chaat was interesting with pakora on top adding to the crunch, mostly tasted of chutney though. The paneer pinwheels were disappointing. I came here for my birthday dinner with my Yelp BFF, Karren, and we had such a memorable experience. They offer valet parking, but we parked in the paid lot nearby which was quick and convenient. The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning, the bar area is gorgeous, the mural on the wall is beautiful, and they have a unique, creative drink menu that really stands out. We ordered several dishes, and the daal and chicken were definitely my top favorites. The paneer kulcha, however, didn't have much flavor for me and wasn't my favorite of the night. My friends and I loved our experience at Baar Baar. Unfortunately it was raining like crazy on the day we had reservations for but that didn't stop us. We arrived to a rather empty restaurant (probably due to the rain). Staff took care of us right away seating us and explaining the menu. We had heard that they're known for their cocktails so we each ordered a different one. All of them were really good and I can see why people say their cocktails are good. The bar is also really impressive if you just wanted to come for a drink. All the cocktails are named after famous Indian movies which was really cute. For the food, we opted into the prix fixe menu (all parties at your table must participate) but it was perfect because the menu had a lot of their most popular items that we would've wanted to order and try anyways. We did end up ordering 2 extra items - the lamp chops as well as the jalapeno cheese naan. It ended up being more than enough food but everything was so good and we were so happy to try it all. The puri puri amuse bouche was SO GOOD! The avocado bhel appetizer dish was also surprisingly good. The traditional butter chicken with the saffron rice was classic but delicious and I loved the seabass fish as well as the jalapeno cheese stuffed naan. I normally don't care for beans but I can see why the Black Dairy Dal is $15!! It was so flavorful and a must get. Came here with my family to celebrate Mother's Day. We were excited to get reservations and it was a prefix menu. We had a great experience overall. A few things I would probably change, but overall it was wonderful. The family who owns the business also was cordial and kind and took time to talk to us. The vibe is incredible. Came for dinner last night and had a real lovely time! The restaurant is located off 9th and they have valet parking, though street parking is in the area too. The restaurant is really beautiful, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We sat at one of the wraparound booths in the bar area which was a classy vibe. Service was all super friendly, though it's always interesting to have non-Indians serving you at an Indian restaurant if they aren't super knowledgeable about the cuisine and culture. On the drinks side, we ordered a pomegranate mocktail and their take on the Tequila Sunrise (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge), and both were great. Neither were super sweet, and both were refreshing. On the food front, we did the tasting menu: Dahi Puri: Good but too much yogurt, it needed more of the masala Cauliflower 65: loved the presentation (looked like fried prawns) and taste, its spicy but super flavorful Duck Taco: this was also excellent, the consomé was delicious and was a great take on a birria taco Traditional Butter Chicken: pretty good, but I've had better. The flavor was a bit on the bland side, but the chicken was super tender Beef Short Ribs: this was a miss overall, the curry was very tasty but the beef wasn't tender, and the marrow wasn't all that flavorful. I'd avoid this dish. Sides: Garlic Naan was great, Saffron rice was fine (if you like saffron you'll enjoy it). Gulab Jamun Cheesecake: delicious! The ice cream it came with was super good too. Rasmalai Cassatta: delicious, a nice refreshing dessert that wasn't too heavy either. Overall, I was really happy with the meal with the exception of the Beef and a few critiques on other items. I'd say this place was closer to a 3.75/5, but will round up because of the vibes and unique experience. The service between the bartender/mixologist and our server was just top notch. Paired with the ambience and decor, it truly created a setting for an enjoyable dinner. I usually love wine with dinner but these days, especially the restaurants on downtown LA, have upped their cocktail game. With complex and refreshing flavors and an Indian kick, the cocktails were amazing. We did enjoy the food. The lambchop was decent and the short ribs and sea bass and butter chicken were delicious. I would skip the duck tacos. Not bad but not memorable and with the birria sauce, didn't really help with duck flavoring. I know they try to bring California twist to the menu but I would have done cheese birria taco with mashed peas or potato even. Shredding duck meat is just a waste. We also skipped a lot of vegetable and shared plates and went straight for large plates meat/seafood dishes with sides family style. Skip the dessert. Intriguing and creative idea but disappointing and underwelhming in execution. We definitely all had slight food coma at the end of the night, which is consistent with good Indian food. read more

Vegetarian review: A delightfully delicious meal with modern twists to classic Indian dishes. Wonderful!

First off, it's a beautiful interior and decor. Felt glamorous and charming, luxe but not pretentious. We were greeted warmly by all staff, had amazing service through out the meal, and the food itself was delicious. Cocktails were strong, flavorful and well balanced. I eat everything but my partner is pescatarian and we both were very happy with what we ordered. I recommend the tuna tostada and the short ribs. Dessert was by far my favorite part of the meal: we ordered the layered dessert, but when they brought it out, they also included pistachio ice cream and 2 glasses of pink champagne as part of an anniversary celebration. We came on Valentines and it was filled up with lots of dates, we got the cocktail special and even went home with a Valentines note from the team which was a nice touch. We didn't feel like cooking a few Saturday's back so we headed out to stop at a random restaurant that we walked by and we just so happened to walk by Baar Baar. This place was way nicer than I was expecting when we saw it across the street, but this place is absolutely beautiful inside. When you walk in you are greeted at the front door before going into this massive place with a ton of different tables, booths, and a large bar as well. The menu here has a lot of different appetizers, entrees, and desserts but I'm a simple man who knew what he wanted right away. We ended up splitting some rice and naan, and I also ordered whatever the fried chicken like dish was that came with a delicious sauce. What was the name you ask? I honestly have no clue because as I sit and look at the menu, I straight up don't see it on the menu. Either way, this chicken had incredible flavour, was super juicy, and the sauce that was on the plate for dipping was really freaking good too. I took full advantage of the naan as well soaking up the rest of the sauce and it was went very nicely together. Overall, Baar Baar wasn't what I expected, but I certainly left satisfied with the experience. The service here was super friendly, the food was very good, and the place itself was beautiful.
