Our order arrived fairly quick. The dumplings were delicious. The filling had a wonderful flavor. The spring rolls were crispy. My husband ordered the shrimp Pad Thai and while he really enjoyed it he did wish there were more shrimp for the price. Although the shrimp he did get were pretty good size. Thai food in North Dakota is hard to come by so when we saw this place we had to stop for dinner. Kind of a weird spot, being in a store and all, but the food is wonderful. The booths are awkward because the tables are too long for the sitting space. A lady at another table actually fell on the floor getting out because she didn't realize the length of the booth versus the table were different. Green Curry. I dine in and take out a lot here but the reason for the rating is, every time i order out my food isn't any good. The first time it happened I thought maybe it's just one of those days, but I then ordered for a second time and then about the fifth try it still doesn't taste how it does when I dine in. Wow, is the word. You can't go wrong. Did you know it had a market too? That's really awesome. Service has always been so friendly, sweet and helpful. It isn't as large as the one is Bismark as for markets, but who cares the food is super awesome. Sitting down or dine out, romantic as can be for the view, have all been great in alk seasons. Especially some of the regional dulishes offered, things never heard of, Kua Gink is dang good, add heat then breathe fire. In the Minot area, this place could be #1, but it's now my number new number 1, a very strong #1 above all the other asian places especially Thai, nothing to shy away from. Could easily be number 1 in the whole region, actually my top two distance themselves from others. Every month we have an International Foodies dinner. We each try a new recipe and get together to sample our creations. My recipe for the month called for sticky rice. This SHOULD be an easy ingredient to find. Alas, it was not. I went to 3 grocery stores before checking to see if the market was open after 8pm. Thankfully, it was! I was able to stop in and grab 5lbs of rice and a few things I didn't need, but couldn't pass up, as long as I was there. Staff are always friendly and never intrusive. This place is hidden from its last location in Minot. It is highway side down from the fire hall and it is a hidden delight. Tons of selection from curry to hotpot to traditional Thai food. There is also a grocery store inside to get any Asian fix you need from chips to drinks or even whole fish! I tried the green curry with medium spice which was good I just wish it had more veggies! I love Baan Rao! This restaurant used to be over by Walmart but they moved to a smaller location near 20th Ave, which is actually more cozy. It is an Asian grocery coupled with the restaurant. Everything I have had here is great. Some favorites are massaman curry, panang curry, fried rice dishes, etc. I have friends that rave about the noodle bowls, as well. Food- pad thia was good except for when you order it "Thai hot," and to go, they simply put a large ball of red curry paste in the middle. Noodles were good, sauce was good, shrimp were of the popcorn variety. Summer rolls I threw away when I got home. Chicken tasted bad, like not seasoning bad, but had been cooked over an unsanitary dumpster fire bad. Not sure if it was old or just a chicken that died of infection after being bit by a Komodo dragon. One bite and they hit the garbage. Seafood curry was the other thing I ordered. Contents all tasted good, but no coconut milk. Not sure if 20 minutes lady got something lost in translation, but I have never had a curry you could see through before. One of the best hidden secrets in Minot honestly. While on my travel back to Canada and I was going through ND and this was one of the pit stops I had stopped at before Fargo. Wasn't looking to eat fast food again so I used Yelp to see what's good and quick while going through. This place is located going through US 52 highway on a frontage/side road. A little hard to spot at first since you need to take a few turns here and there but it's not far off from the exit off the highway. This place looked a bit unusual from the exterior since it doesn't look like a restaurant. Once inside the place is a mini mart part restaurant. Upon entering to the left there are a row of shelves with a mixture of many different kinds of Asian snacks, ingredients, and food. There is a variety of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese snacks and ingredients. Ordered red curry chicken with rice. The presentation was pleasant. The chicken was a bit strange but maybe it was just sliced into really thin pieces which made me think the chicken was something different. The curry was very authentic Thai curry. It's unusual that it was more watery than thick sauce, since I have tried other authentic Thai curry's and this was the first time it was more of a liquid soupy sauce instead of a creamy sauce. I guess different region of Thailand make their curry different from other places. The whole dish was fantastic was very authentic Thai cuisine. I've been wanting to try his place out for quite some time because it had more ratings than the Blue Elephant (going there next time to try) and the rating average was a bit higher than the Blue Elephant. So my initial thought when I first entered was that it was very clean and neat. The tables and chairs actually reminded me of my parents dining room furniture. My parents had a black glass table and black wooden chairs with white cushions and the ones here were similar but white. They incorporated a lot of their culture with the decorations around the restaurant. We arrived just 30mins after they opened and we were one of 4 groups that were there. Service was a bit slow, there was only one women up front to seat us, get us drinks and take our orders as well as serve us. I'm going to take a guess and say there was probably only one other person in the back cooking. I say this because it took awhile for each table to get their food. The food itself was average in comparison to the price. I don't want to say I'm an expert in Thai cuisine but I've had my fair share of Thai food back in Hawaii and Tom Yum soup usually packs a punch when I order it. This time it was very bland and not what I was expecting. I expected a bold flavor, as most Thai cuisines tend to marry all sorts of spices together. This did not live up to my expectations. To be safe my husband ordered Pad Thai, always a safe choice since you can't mess that up. It was a bit bland for him too and he ended up drowning it in different sauces that was available for us on the table. Overall the prices were a bit high so I expected greatness but all I got in return was satisfactory. The soup warmed me up real nice considering it was 40 degrees out but my husband and I left feeling hungry still. $30 for 2 dishes, I don't think it was worth it. I had the smallest bowl of rice possible and I kid you not, I ate it all in 5 bites. The place was nice and clean, service was a bit slow and food was alright. But needless to say my husband told me we're not going back there again for what he had to pay. **Review for store only** This is practically the only asian shop in Minot. They have a small but decent selection of asian cooking essentials from various ethnicities. I saw some Thai, Japanese and Korean products there. They stock sauces/condiments/candy as well as frozen items too. There is some fresh produce (boy choy, eggplants) but the bok choy looked like they've been there for a long time and were turning yellow/getting slimy. We picked the best two bunches we could find since we really want some bok choy. I saw that they have a paper near the cash register where you can request special items for them to order. Honestly though my biggest pet peeve is they don't open on time. Don't bother showing up right when they open at 11am because it's likely no one will be there. Usually they are 10-15 min late. Honestly they might as well change their opening hours to 11:30am if that's the case. read more

This restaurant changed locations and I thought it had closed, it is not easy to find but so worth the effort. At the advice of the server, I tried the "Shrimp stick" appetizer and after considering the multiple options for soup/noodle dishes ordered the "tom yum thai soup with beef and rice noodles." First visit was 3 weeks ago. Service was slow but friendly. The food was not what we expected. Pad Thai was drowned in fish sauce. It smelled and tasted really fishy! Ordered the fresh rolls which were uber expensive for the tiny roll. I thought it was a joke because of the filling. The Thai bibimbap was not popular at our table either. (Wish there was a good Korean restaurant here!) The omelette was oily too. Second visit was not better. Thick noodles with chicken was over seasoned and drenched in a salty sauce. Beef salad was unchewable(Poor quality beef that was so tough to chew) and tasted like fish. Tonkatsu was not korean or Japanese style. It looked like cut up chicken tenders. . The basil stir fry was empty of chicken. It was too salty and made mostly of onions and peppers whereas it was lacking in the meat department. Will probably not return. read more
