I was also charged $11.48 for a line reading "Diesel Vehicle" I DIDN"T HAVE A DIESEL Vehicle??? How about the line reading "Premium Station Surcharge" another $69.94, I picked the car up at the Bologna airport! it goes on and and on. Another line reading "Assistance Service Fee" for $32.48, and "Cross Border Fee" for $40.00, I didn't CROSS ANY BORDER!!!!!!!! There's more! A line reading "Customer Choice" for $68.84, I booked a car for 4 people with luggage, we ended up being only 3 people, if anything, we took a less expensive vehicle???? Shame on you Europcar!!!!!!

I got the best price via cartrawler website. They were the cheapest for the weekend I visited but for sure great service. Smiling and gentle assistant at the desk who also gave me the option between different cars. They do not give u the car keys right away, when you are at the parking lot you have a second stop to do, quite fast, to pick them up and get to the car. Among the different ones I have used in Bologna, this had been the best rental so far. Way better than Avis which has always long waiting. My FIAT Panda was brand new, clean and did it perfectly for me.

If empty, they would just charge me an average price per liter. I said I would return the car full, as I always do. Upon return I found out that they had put "PFO (prepaid fuel option) accepted" in my agreement, which means that they charged me another 100 Euro for a full tank, regardless how much is in the tank when you return it. Lost 100 Eur on that one. Then, I forgot an iPad in the car. My fault of course, but I would expected a reputable company to find it and offer to return it. I called them immediately, and the guy said he couldn't take this info on the phone and gave me a very long, non-company email address, which of course did not work. Tried to call again, but nobody picking up the phone. Have now sent a fax, but don't really expect any results. So, my recommendation; be very careful with the "prepaid fuel option" and try another company at this airport.

    AVOID!! They charge your credit card with random amounts even after 7 months!!…read more According to the employee, the "system" was not working well at the time of my booking. She told me that I had to write my name, e-mail address, home address and phone number on a piece of paper and she would send me the contract, the terms and conditions of my renting and the receipt of my payment. She said she was unable to send me the electronic contract, nor could she print it and give it to me. So I was asked to electronically sign on a blank screen with a stylus and believe the employee's words that what I was presented before was what I was signing. I also had to believe that I would "surely" receive my signed contract in my email. I wrote my details on the piece of paper but never received any document. Almost ten days after I had returned the car and returned to my country, I saw a charge of €58,61 on my credit card. I tried to find a contact email of the rental office in Bologna airport and it was quite difficult, but I finally managed to find it. I contacted them asking what the charge was about and also asking for a receipt of my payment that I had never received until then. They sent a receipt and they said that the charge was a mistake and they would return the money, which they did. However, they never sent me the contract and the terms and conditions of my renting. Seven (7!!) months later, I saw a charge of €30.50 on my credit card. I contacted the airport office, they said I should contact the customer service, which I did. They said it was because of a traffic offense of driving on a bus lane and sent me a pdf with the notification, but I cannot confirm it is valid. According to that pdf document, if the fee, which was €89, was paid within 5 days it would have a discount of 30%, and if it was paid after 60 days the amount owed would be doubled, i.e. it would be €178. So, if the notification is valid, I will not only have to pay €178 to the Italian state but also pay an additional €30.50 to Sixt!! And they say it is according to our agreement but they deny me access to it!!! I have asked them 3 times to send me the rental contract with my signature and they don't send it to me. Why is that? Who does that? Why do they hide it? I don't know what to do, I don't know if the traffic offense is true, I was extremely cautious while driving there and I don't remember driving on a bus lane. I don't know if they just charge random amounts to unlucky customers' credit cards, betting that they won't see it or they won't bother with it. However, I understand that they have kept my credit card number until now and can charge me amounts, either by "mistake" or by providing documents that I cannot confirm their validity. Please avoid renting from them! You may pay €20-30 less but it is totally NOT WORTH IT! You will have to constantly check your credit card for random charges and spend so much of your time on emails and lawyers!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

When we booked our weekend trip to Verona, we found a pretty good deal for a small car at Sixt, so we decided to try Sixt. We landed around 22:15 in Verona and because we only had carry on luggage, we could walk right to the desk of Sixt. When we arrived at the desk, nobody was sitting there and there wasn't even a note stating were the person was and what time he/she would be back. All the other car rental companies had at least one person at the desk, while other persons were at the garage. At Sixt, all of this was done by one person (but without any communication to the customer :( ) Fortunately, after 15 minutes, somebody arrived and we were helped quickly after that and were very happy with our Fiat 500 we got :) Finally, when handing in the car at the end of the weekend, it showed that the missing person at the desk was not just a one-time thing: again there was nobody at the sixt desk, while there always was at least one person at all the other desks.... Again we had to wait for about 15 minutes for the person to arrive. For companies like this, I don't understand that they don't communicate clearly to their customers. Best would be to at least always have a person sitting at the desk that can help people....
