Our bike was great, no issues, got us to and from Siena in 95 (40) degree heat no problem. Another issue, they have waaaay more bike rentals than GPS, so you might have to jerry-rig your phone to the bike like we did. Definitely would be a five star if the gear wasn't so gross. My husbands helmet stunk terribly and even the removable/washable pads were unclean. We lysoled it and wiped it out, it turned the towel black/brown, so nasty. The gloves were also disgusting. The jackets don't even have a spine protector.

Told it had 1/4 tank but it was empty (Finding gas in Florence is not easy). Mirrors wouldn't stay adjusted and just kept flopping. The guy we dealt with spoke NO English. Pointed to a map that showed the city of Florence and told us no. Pointed outside of Florence and said best to go there. Helmet liners had never been washed and stunk. The GoPro mount on my helmet had been sheared off by force somehow. The visor was super dirty, scratchy and kept falling down after putting it up. So no...I won't be going back.

My fiancé and I have never operated a Vespa before and we decided to walk into Florence Station rental at 5pm to book a Vespa for a few hours. Lucky for us, there was one Vespa available and we were able to use it despite the shop closing at 5:30pm! Yuri (I believe this is the owner's name) was very accommodating and generally just great to work with. His English is excellent since he has a wife and child living in Hawaii, he's also visited California (my home state) multiple times. Since it was our first time on a Vespa, he made sure to get us comfortable with using the vehicle by teaching my fiancé and riding with him around the block! His instructions were fantastic. Honestly, the streets of Florence are kind of scary to drive around in, especially during rush hour traffic. Yuri gave us a route and a map that we can follow and basic traffic instructions. Luckily, my fiancé is tall and was able to operate the Vespa smoothly. A tip from me is to book a Vespa early in the day (or online). This shop is popular and vehicles may not be available. The countryside is better to be traveled early in the day when there is still light out. The shop does close at 5:30pm so any rentals late in the day will be charged "sunset pricing" but keys can still be return after the shop closes via a special "key hole" in the gate.

Easy peasy rental - - there are 2 Hertz locations in Bologna: one at the airport and this one near…read morethe train station. Being that we were already in town, I figured it would be easiest to just pick up the car at this location - - and I was right. Technically this location is just across the street from the Stazione Centrale. You go to this office to "check-in" and complete the paperwork. Then you walk approx 70m away to collect your car in a parking garage. We had reserved an "intermediate" (I believe) - and ended up with a cute Fiat Bravo. (Think VW Golf 4 door - but a bit extended.) Staff was friendly; super easy to get the car. And I dropped off at the same garage location. Overall easy deal - - still just waiting for my credit card to get the final bill though. (Hopefully that goes through just as easily - cause "technically" no one was there to officially check me in.) I would rent from here again with future travel to Bologna. Also, it's relatively easy to get onto the autostrada. Advice: Ask for a Bologna map. That was SUPER helpful!

Since the airport office of Maggiore is 'only' open until midnight, I sent them an email to find out whether it would be possible to pick up the car later in case the flight is delayed. A few hours later, I received this helpful email reply: "Please, add the flight number to your reservation if you still haven't done so [I have] and we will wait for you maximum until 2 am." This is great service which isn't a given even in 2017!

Smiling and gentle assistant at the desk who also gave me the option between different cars. They do not give u the car keys right away, when you are at the parking lot you have a second stop to do, quite fast, to pick them up and get to the car. Among the different ones I have used in Bologna, this had been the best rental so far. Way better than Avis which has always long waiting. My FIAT Panda was brand new, clean and did it perfectly for me.

I thought Hertz was quality, but this outfit was not good…read more First, they cheated me on fuel. They asked if I wanted to return the car with full or empty tank. If empty, they would just charge me an average price per liter. I said I would return the car full, as I always do. Upon return I found out that they had put "PFO (prepaid fuel option) accepted" in my agreement, which means that they charged me another 100 Euro for a full tank, regardless how much is in the tank when you return it. Lost 100 Eur on that one. Then, I forgot an iPad in the car. My fault of course, but I would expected a reputable company to find it and offer to return it. I called them immediately, and the guy said he couldn't take this info on the phone and gave me a very long, non-company email address, which of course did not work. Tried to call again, but nobody picking up the phone. Have now sent a fax, but don't really expect any results. So, my recommendation; be very careful with the "prepaid fuel option" and try another company at this airport.
