Good stay Positives:…read moreshort walk from Central Station, restaurants, grocery & Tivoli. Loved that our room had 2 full bathrooms. Good breakfast & cocktail hour. Very good customer service. Negatives: lift not operational for part of our stay (but they did haul our luggage up to the 4th floor and offered free drinks to all until it was repaired), some wear in our room and our fridge door wouldn't shut fully, our room lock stopped working (didn't realize it was unlocked all day while away -although afterwards they did leave an employee outside our room so we could leave AND left us some gifts for the trouble). Overall a pleasant stay for us. The staff was helpful and accommodating and the location was quiet and good for transport.

The wine offered during happy hour is a nice offering, and the lobby can get quite busy during this time. The breakfast is nice and offers a good assortment of items, but can become repetitive if you're staying for longer duration as the items are the same each day. The rooms are small and cozy, however the bathrooms are even smaller. The shower is directly adjacent to the toilet and is separated only by a shower curtain which will get the floors of the bathroom wet. A nice hotel option close to the train station.

The vibe is Balinese which threw me off-- Im used to a Scandi vibe everywhere Ive stayed in the city. The all organic delish breakfasts. The bedding and fabrics in the room are also organic! Its soo fun to stay here, theres a sauna with massage services, there are Vespas in random parts of the buildings and courtyard and staff wear Indonesian style uniforms. Inside the room, every detail was well planned and designed for practical functional use. I was sooo into the heated bathroom floor, I made a point to go without slippers. :) The small hotel bar/resto hosts serves superr delicious food and drink, ask for Franco. Staying at Axel G was a niiiiiceee surprise , i loved it so much, Im gonna be back. Be aware tho there is no air conditioning. Fans are provided in the rooms. End of Yelp.

The sauna was amazing and got very hot, and we really enjoyed getting to use the cold plunge in between sauna sessions. There's also a steam room, infrared sauna, and jacuzzi. I also tried the mud mask and coffee scrub at the spa. We got a spa tote that included robes and flip flops, so no need to pack your own. The breakfast buffet was delicious as well and had a variety of options. The room was nicely decorated, bed was comfy, heater worked well during the winter, and there were amenities that we weren't expecting (toothbrush, toothpaste tablet, etc). I'd definitely stay at a Guldsmeden hotel again!

Having stayed previously that…read moreweek at a local hotel (St Annæ), which we throughly enjoyed, (5* rating) it was quite the culture change. We booked both as wheelchair accessible and while the Marriott has textured bathroom tile floors unlike the St Annæ's slippery smooth tiles, the lower than ADA allowed toilet was a problem. Also only one of the four table lamps worked. The room's door closer and threshold made egress very difficult. Staff was very helpful. The breakfast was good but subpar to the local hotel's. The location is pretty along the harbor, next to BIG's swimming and sauna chalet, and they provide robes and towels for daring guests. However it is a bit isolated from the many nicer local shops and restaurants.

The staff is friendly and quick to help. There are several amenities available on-site. The bathtub is high with a slope on all sides, making it very slippery to get in and out (1/2 star off). There is no rubber bath mat to prevent slippage. Be careful. The location is great if you are looking to mostly stay on the canal and walk around the boardwalk. However, it is 15 minute walk to the nearest metro station and city center. There is a hotel restaurant, but no other restaurants nearby within 15 minute walk. This is fine for the summer, but inconvenient in sub-zero temperatures (1/2 star off). I stayed here in February, so found myself rather trapped unless I take a taxi everywhere.

I'm really not sure how to rate this hotel. It may be spectacular based on Copenhagen standards but…read moreI will compare it to what I know from the United States. If the IKEA corporation and Mattel's Barbie created a room for her this would be it. Those of you that are used to going into IKEA in the US and see their little sample room designs those are the actual sizes of the rooms here. The room here is really designed for sleeping, going to the restroom, and taking a shower. They are extremely small and no place to hang clothes. Some would call this a modern Decour I would say it was something that was left over from the late 60s. The room was clean. The shower and toilet share one room. The water pressure for the shower was extremely low. Especially for the hot water side. Considering the price of the room which was booked six months in advance $355 US per night I am amazed. In the US this hotel no matter what city you were here even San Diego, San Francisco or downtown LA wouldn't go more than $100. Our room did include breakfast. Coffee is extra. Ordered an 8 ounce cup of coffee at six in the morning and it was $4.70 US or 30DK. That was from a coffee machine. It makes it look like Starbucks is giving away their coffee in the states. The breakfast buffet was very good. It was moved the rating from 3 stars to 4. It had a tremendous amount of meats, breads, coffee machines, fruits, and cheese. The service was also very good. Final review is the room is clean, appears safe, in line with the pricing of other things in the city but compared to the US yikes. The Decour looks just like an IKEA some may call modern.

Despite the stay being weeks away and rooms still available, customer service has been extremely unhelpful and nearly impossible to reach directly. Very disappointing experience before even arriving at the hotel.

Fantastisk Sted At Gå Ned I København!…read more SITREP If you don't read Danish, that's my excited utterance of "Great Place To Crash In Copenhagen!" And a shout out to my yelpie Bridget W. and my trippy Mette for both cluing me onto this veritable hostel paradise! THE SETUP So what happened is on my flight out of Stockholm, Sweden, I ended up with a one (1) day layover in Copenhagen before going on to San Francisco. Now, this was PLANNED - I knew I had the layover: it was either this or pay $400 more for the next least expensive round trip between San Francisco and Stockholm (and back). As it turned out, I was already spending 10 days in the Baltic States with friends, hitting Sweden, Estonia, Russia and Finland. Unfortunately, there was no time in that itinerary to hit Denmark (nor Norway, for that matter, though technically, although also part of "Scandinavia", Norway is not a Baltic state). So an extra stop on the return leg in Copenhagen for a full day presented itself to me and I was happy to take it. DOWNTOWN DISTRICT AND CLOSE TO AIRPORT As soon as I jetted back into Copenhagen Airport (my 2nd time here in addition to my 1st two (2) hour layover in this airport on way to Stockholm), I jumped into the rail-car at the adjacent train station. Not more than 12 mins, I was at the downtown Central Train Station, and only a block and a half from Urban House! URBAN HOUSE It's right on the corner, with the front door in the middle of the block (just a block and a half up from one of the train station's entrances). https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urban-house-k%C3%B8benhavn-2?select=JZdnyOCkTnIibGTVoHJ-bA&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w The fees are very reasonable: at the time I was making my reservation for the middle of July, it was $35 a night in a dorm room. I pulled the trigger on a SINGLE room with a bathroom for only $94.71/night. Easily just a third of the cost of even the more "moderately" priced hotels in Downtown Copenhagen, near the airport. And most of the time I would be on a walk-a-bout and not in the room anyways, so I didn't want to waste my money there. The room didn't have a TV anyways - entertainment was outside of the room. ENTERTAINMENT! ..and speaking of entertainment, Urban House had a full-on bar / cafe / "Student Union"-feel open area at street level. In fact, the guy serving beers, took a quick break so he could check me in. The gal that was serving breakfast the next day was the one who checked me out: as it turns out, a good consolidation of tasks combined in their multi-talented staff. I ventured out in the afternoon and evening (twice actually) to grab some excellent Thai food back in the Train Station. And then again to a bar a few blocks away that was hosting a Jazz festival. There was plenty to do, places to eat, immerse oneself into the night life, all within blocks of Urban House. No car needed. THE ROOM As mentioned no TV, but that was not missed. There was a desk and chair which was nice since this is where I spent any of my waking-time while in the room. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urban-house-k%C3%B8benhavn-2?select=NuynCk7VfBPS6-Fn4XhFuQ&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w The bathroom was a fascinating engineered piece of configuration, especially when it came to the adjacent proximity of the toilet and shower: a good economy of space! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urban-house-k%C3%B8benhavn-2?select=AJLhvC82t2aCaZBooEwbAw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w There are never enough pillows wherever I go (hotel, motel, etc.), and unfortunately, this went doubly so for this. It's rare when I have to dip into my travel gear and find a jacket and extra pair of pants and fold/roll them up just so I can get a bit more height on the shallow pillow they give you. It is what it is. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urban-house-k%C3%B8benhavn-2?select=T9RWvTNb8ZgaFlkcvFW5uw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w THE LOWDOWN A reasonably affordable stop when touring through Copenhagen. Should I find myself traveling alone in this fair city once more, I totally would consider staying here again.

The rooms are typical small European style, but the beds are very plush and uber comfy! The tubs are super deep and the pressure is fantastic. I certainly enjoyed a nice hot bubble bath with their solid brand toiletries after a long, chilly day in late fall. It was perfect! They have decent hair dryers in every room too. Check in and out was pretty easy, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the price was super reasonable for Denmark. There's a 7-11 just around the corner for anything you may have forgotten or any late night munchies you may have! They have Skyr! I would absolutely recommend a stay here for anyone, and certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when I'm in the area.

We got a room that overlooked Tivoli, so that was a unique experience, especially since there was a rock concert one of those nights that was playing right outside (and the hotel gave us 2 cans of Mikkeller beer to enjoy the concert with). You also get free access to Tivoli by staying here, on all of your days including days of check-in and check-out, just ask the front desk for wrist bands! And it's the premium pass with all the rides. I didn't realize that until we got there and had purchased tickets beforehand, but the hotel advised that I could go to the service desk and get those refunded, which they did without a fuss. We booked 2 nights via points through Hyatt and it was more than worth it, since we spent 40-45k/night and the cash rate was going for over $1k/night. Availability might be limited so book early. The room can feel a little dated, but it's part of the historical vibe with creaky wooden floors and antique furniture. Nevertheless the restroom is modern and clean. The free breakfast we had is amazing. Not sure if it's free for all, but we have Explorist status with Hyatt if that mattered. It was quality over quantity, but man, quality. There was this truffle scrambled egg that was so good. Check out the Nimb bar too, the ambiance is classy yet casual, and the drinks are uniquely presented. Service is great too! Our waitress actually took time after getting our drinks to chat with us and ask where we're from, how long we're visiting. It's a pricey place, yes. But if you have the points or can splurge a little, it's worth staying at least a night once in your life!

Problem statement: the hotel could not charge my credit card - not sure why, but my travel agent gave the wrong AMEX. I forewarn all potential guests of the Hotel Nimb that Summer 2022 will be impacted by significant number of last-minute flight cancellations due to staffing, crew, and operational issues with all international airlines... given my suboptimal experience with the Hotel Nimb's soft product, e.g., management, I would promptly steer away from this property under any circumstances.
