I didn't see the water, and slipped and indeed fell quite hard. I'm youngish and spry, and was able to bounce back, and am just sore and achy. But nobody made any comment to me or expressed any concern (other than other guests). I in fact had to report the incident after flagging someone down, and nobody offered as much as an apology or asked if I was ok. I'm honestly glad it was me rather than an older person, as the outcome could have been rough. The food at McLain's is consistently good. I don't care for their coffee or espresso, but it's just not to my taste, I don't think it's poor quality. Bottom line, I think they could work on their soft skills regarding their guests (particularly when potential injuries are on the table). That said, do get a chicken salad sandwich from them. Maybe just order it to go...

Everything about this meal was perfect. I don't regret a single thing we ordered. I only wish I was…read moreable to eat more food because they offer so many more things that I would like to try. This is a very authentic Italian restaurant that offers traditional Italian dishes. We started with the lobster ravioli, which was perfect. Then we eat substituted the side salad that comes with an entree for their minestrone. It was a different flavor than I am used to, but fantastic nonetheless. It actually reminded me more of sopa de fideo, a childhood favorite so I didn't mind at all. I have the Shrimp Diablo, which wasn't too spicy at all. Something I always worry about when ordering that dish. My fiancé ordered a classic spaghetti and meatballs with a tomato sauce. Those were probably the best meatballs I've ever had. The tomato sauce was a little on the sweet side, so he would probably choose the meat sauce next time. The waiting area when you check in was a little crowded, and there was a little bit of a wait even with a reservation. However, our waitress was lovely and once we were seated there were no issues. In true Italian style each course is spaced out so you have time to enjoy everything and let your stomach settle.

We visited fairly early on a Friday evening and the place wasn't packed - but I guess we were early as the waiting area was full when we left. We skipped appetizers, but had the side salad with our meal; the waiter asked if I wanted blue cheese crumbles on mine so I said yes - and the cheese was really good - though I was slightly irritated that they apparently came with a $2.25 up charge on the "complimentary" side salad, not mentioned by the waiter). For main courses, my wife had Chicken Piemontese (chicken in white wine reduction with sautéed mushrooms) which she really liked. I had the linguine fra diavolo (spicy linguine with shrimp) - definitely spicy; sauce had an interesting flavor and was overall very good. The linguine was a little bit too al dente for my taste and the dish was short on shrimp - maybe a dozen small shrimp lost in a sea of noodles. Dessert was chocolate tartufo (vanilla gelato rolled in chocolate biscotti and topped with chocolate sauce). It was the highlight of the meal. The service was great - friendly waiter and Chef Jasper even stopped by to make sure we liked our meal. So, overall a very good dinner with just a couple of minor issues. We'd go back in a heartbeat.
