    Different, decadent, delicious!

Friends and neighbors have been raving about this place and I'm so glad that I finally made it over. The people who work here are so sweet and helpful and they directed me towards lots of delicious things. I especially loved their almond pastry with layers of almond paste- oh my goodness I died and went to almond heaven! We also tried cream puff buns, and some kind of bun with nuts (walnuts?) in them- I can't remember the name of them. I will definitely be back to try more fun stuff! You should definitely check this place out.

I finally stop in here to check out this bakery. It was mid day and not too many people in the shop. Inside deco is cute. Decorated with live plants, miniature handmade crafts and toys. The staff working there was very kind. They have a good assortment of pastries and desserts. I opted for their rolls to try. It was delicious. I don't recall a sitting area. It's a kind of place that you go in to pickup and go. The shop is so close to home and I never knew about it till now.

Their hours are a bit off, so it took a while, but I finally made my way over. Unsure of what is made in house versus made there. I got an assortment of things. They have lots of bread flavor options and desserts in the case. All yummy!!

HAMU bakery was such a good find. I came here for their crepe cake that comes in so many different flavors - taro, tiramisu, durian, matcha. It's a no brainer for durian!!! I ate one at the store and had to buy 3 more slices to go because it was heavenly good, especially if you love durian like me : ). Bolo bao was really good as well. Customer service was great - the lady at the counter was so kind and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Great pastries for the flight or travel. Or to bring to family when visiting them. The owner Hamlett makes great creative stuff.

Taiwanese bakery similar to 85 Degrees & JJ Bakery in CA. Call or order ahead on their site. They do special orders. Love their crepe cakes, savory breads w/ pork sung, chocolate polo, chocolate ice cream bread, breads w/ taro, & teas w/ sea salt cream. All of the desserts are not too sweet which is the BEST pairing to their teas. Make sure to eat the chocolate ice cream bread ASAP before it melts! Thankfully we brought a cooler w/ ice packs so it survived our drive home. The staff are kind & asked if my drink was sweet enough. They adjust the sweetness level from 0%, 30%, 50%, 70%, to 100%. The baker just took out some Portuguese egg tarts freshly hot from the oven when we just arrived. Delish w/ that caramelized top! The bakery is a to go or delivery spot so find a great park nearby to eat or in our case by the bakery parking lot eating freshly baked egg tarts. They have cute knitted items & hair ties by the register & dog treats. Sometimes they have dog treats for your dog to eat. They also have frozen homemade dumplings from Jasmine Garden which is right next door to HAMU Bakery.

The first time I tried their baked goods was years ago at their Lawrence location and I have always remembered their Snow White pastry. It was so light, fluffy, and the custard in the middle was "not too sweet." So glad they opened a location here! We got the Snow White, matcha crepe slice, basque cheesecake, and fluffy cheesecake and will be back to try the other pastries. I highly recommend the Snow White! If you're looking for the bakery, the sign does not say HAMU, it says "Beyond Bread Bakery"

The best pastries I've had in a long time! Been wanting to try this bakery for a long time now and I am so happy that I did! Right when you walk into the door you smell the fresh baked goods immediately, we were greeted with a smile and felt welcomed! The taste of the baked goods sent us down the road of our childhood, from the california Goldilocks . That's how good the pastries were! We got teary eyed in the car... we tasted our childhood. Will go again!!!!

First time checking this place out and I will be going back! The decoration and aesthetic of the store is super cute and bright. There is a display of pastries varying from sweet to savory. I got the durian, matcha, and taro crepe cake. They were so delectable and such a delicacy. The taro flavor wasn't overpowering and had a soft filling. The matcha one was frozen and tasted more like green tea but the flavors were really present which I enjoyed. My favorite was the durian one. If you've never tried durian, please try this! Durian is a fruit from Asia and tastes so amazing in this crepe cake. The service was great! He was really helpful in helping me pick out what I was looking for. The pricing on these items are around the same as other Asian bakeries. This place was great and I will be ordering more from here in the future!

These pastries are the closest thing in KC to some of my favorite snacks from studying abroad in Hong Kong, and I'll definitely be back. A third of the photos are in the car because I couldn't wait until I got home to try them, and a third of the photos aren't even pictured because I was too excited about the rest and forgot. Double take of the Tiger Roll because she's beautiful from all angles. Basically, go try Beyond Bread. I got the Polo (Pineapple) Bun, the Tiger Roll, a Scallion and Pork Floss Bun, a Matcha Crepe Cake, a Ham and Cheese Bun, a Snow White, Passion Fruit Panna Cotta, and one of the cheesecakes. Everything was fresh, just the right level of sweet, and very reasonably priced. If you're not sure what to try, I would definitely recommend the Tiger Roll, the Snow White (kind of like a cakier cream puff), and the Passionfruit Panna Cotta. If you're in a cake mood, the crepe cake slices were great and 10/10 times I would recommend them over Tous Les Jour's cake slices. The savory items weren't my favorite here but I'd still be happy to pick up another Pork Floss (dried and shredded pork) and Scallion Bread if I'm in the area and looking for something more substantial than a pastry.

Little quaint bakeshop! My love for Matcha made me choose the Green Tea Mousse right off the bat as well as the Basque Cheesecake. Chris chose the Green Tea Almond Cookies knowing I'll eat the rest of them. All 3 were amazing, but the cheesecake was my favorite. It was rich, creamy and decadent! The young man at the register was very courteous and efficient. He mentioned they are adding pho soon!

Tucked away in a small corner of Lenexa, Monkey King Chinese BBQ & Noodle Restaurant feels like one…read moreof the most authentic Chinese spots in the Kansas City metro area. Their menu consists of a lot of dishes, and some are quite unique .. you don't usually see items like bird's nest dishes at most Chinese restaurants around here except for maybe Bolings. Me and my husband visited on a Saturday night around 8 pm and really devoured our meal. The menu can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but you honestly can't go wrong with stir fries at any Chinese restaurant. For appetizers, we ordered chicken egg rolls, which were hefty and filling. For the main course, I ordered the chicken in black bean stir fry, and my husband got the shrimp Kung Pao chicken stir fry. We paired both with steamed rice. The black bean chicken was rich and earthy, with that deep, slightly funky flavor from the fermented black beans. It was very umami, salty and complimented nicely with the fresh, crisp vegetables and well-cooked chicken. I really liked it. The shrimp Kung Pao was spicy and tangy, with perfectly cooked shrimp (the fried shrimp covering was chefs kiss) and crispy veggies. Overall, we really enjoyed the food. The egg rolls were about $4 for two pieces, and the stir fries were around $17+ each. The portions are quite large compared to other places in the area, so the pricing seemed reasonable. For 2 main course dishes your bill could easily reach up to $40. Otherwise, The restaurant was clean, the staff was kind, and service was quick. It also wasn't too crowded when we visited. I would rate the service 4/5, mainly because we had to ask for silverware, condiments, and tissues separately. The food, though, is definitely a 5/5. Highly recommended! I will definitely return to have more dishes like beef chow fun, the soups and last, but not least BIRDS NEST!!
