I rarely write reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience with BK movers. While the moving crew themselves were kind, hardworking, and respectful (we even tipped them), the way the company's management has handled the aftermath has been extremely disappointing. Several of my belongings were damaged during the move, including all three mattresses (torn), a broken nightstand with glass inlays, scratched bed frames, ripped up threshold on my front door and a brand-new front storm door that they tried to claim was only rubber trim when it is clearly metal. My home is brand new! One mover also left black glove smudges across my walls that cannot be cleaned and now require painting. When I brought these issues to the owner's attention, I was told flatly, "No Ma'am your claim is closed," without any acknowledgment, investigation, or willingness to even look at the damage. The refusal to take responsibility or even have a conversation about the matter shows a serious lack of professionalism and accountability at the management level. To be clear -- the movers crew themselves were wonderful people. Unfortunately, the company's leadership has made it impossible for me to recommend them. Moving is stressful enough; the last thing you should have to deal with is extensive damage and a company unwilling to stand behind its service. read more

We had the absolute pleasure of working with Ron, Miguel, and Christopher Melton from BK Movers, and we truly cannot say enough good things about the experience. They helped my husband and I and our family move several large pieces of furniture--not just from our home, but also to two separate locations: my 86-year-old mother's house and my sister's house, which are located across the street from each other. From start to finish, these three gentlemen were incredible. Their professionalism, patience, and care stood out every step of the way. They handled everything with the utmost respect and courtesy, especially considering the sentimental value and size of some of the pieces being moved. BK movers made moving my 91 yr old mother to a senior living facility a wonderful experience. The men were not only above and beyond professional , they were so kind and considerate of her feelings. Went out of their way to make her feel relaxed as she watched all of her things leave a home she loved and didnt want to leave. Everything arrived in perfect shape. We just used BK Movers to move all of furniture into our two bedroom apartment and our experience could not have been better. The team was responsive, very focused, careful and hardworking. Several large items of furniture were very difficult to fit through narrow doors and the patience and skill they exhibited was really impressive. No problems here. Daughter was moving and we had plenty of people offering to help move heavy furniture. Thanks, but we are all getting older so she hired BK to move furniture. Met with rep and got reasonable quote. Was flexible in pricing and said if we wanted to add boxes they would just charge for extra time. Movers showed up on time and had the house emptied in less than two hours. If a piece was broken, like some of the kids bed slats and a chair that the kids broke, they brought it to our attention. Three of the hardest working gentlemen I have ever met. All furniture moved and zero pieces broken or scratched. Final bill came in less than estimate. read more

When estimate was provided he quoted me for 4 men but only sent 3 then sent me a bill for an additional $247 on top of the $1540 he charged me when the job took longer due to less men. Why would you have to pay $250 deductible if your employees damaged MY furniture?!? Why do you think people hire professionals?!?!? Came highly recommended however I was terribly disappointed. Workers mocked me the whole time, were very rude and not at all careful with my items. Broke several items and nicked and scratched others. The placement of my items and boxes were not at all acceptable. Basically thrown down in bulk making it impossible to even go through my things to put away. I also paid almost double my quote even though the workers were taking their time and goofing around laughing and playing. Last but not least, very uncomfortable when it came payment time. I was surrounded by all of the workers during payment and made to feel uncomfortable. After paying my hefty fee, I tipped the movers and they seemed very unappreciative. Nearly every piece of furniture was scratched and alot of pieces of furniture were broken. You will regret using them! They low-ball offers, then break your furniture, and deny your damage claim! I have never been so upset in my life about making a bad decision about a company before! The moving company denied our insurance claim to our damaged furniture that they damaged! We even paid extra to insure that if our furniture is wrecked that it will be covered! They sweat all over our furniture, couches, and mattresses, and this wouldn't have happened if they wrapped up everything! They dropped my bed-frame multiple times, cracking the wood in multiple places. Somehow I was delusional in thinking that I could keep myself busy and pack some last-minute things and let the movers be responsible with my furniture. A few times I left the basement after hearing large "BOOMS!" and finding they were moving disassembled pieces of my bed frame, when I didn't find any damage to the walls of my house, I dismissed it, I SHOULD HAVE BEEN WATCHING THESE MOVERS LIKE A HAWK! We have a cooler on wheels from Pier One that is now broken from heavy weight packed on top of it. It wasn't meant to have heavy furniture packed on top of it! They did not wrap the furniture like their website says they do. They wrapped two pieces of dressers which arrived safely, but the rest of the furniture, like our couches and mattresses and the really light disassembled bed frame that they decided not to wrap were banged up, stained, or heavily soaked in sweat. My office chair's arm now has a stripped bolt, so the right arm is wobbly. The faux leather finish on the office chair is now cracked, and peeling off, because they must have put heavy furniture on it, given that the arm was nearly broken off. What else can I do besides leave this review? I have lost too much sleep over this nightmare. The movers also told me I had 90 days to file a claim if any damage was found. When I reported damage to them, they told me "You can't report damage, you already signed off on it when they delivered everything." Then what the hell is the 90 days to file a claim for!?! (They sent me a claim form anyways, then swiftly denied it.) All of the accurate YELP reviews for this company are under the "not recommended reviews!" I contacted YELP about this too, but their system is allegedly on "auto-sort", so if you want an accurate review of my experience, it's already been posted by other 1 star reviewers! Needless to say, these issues could have been resolved if the insurance policy we paid for wasn't a scam! read more

I was pleased with the quote, the moving day went very smooth even with the extremely wet and wild day. I moved on a Satfurday and told them Iwould be moving into my new home in two weeks. Th at was the date on the contracts initially received. The week of my move in I called and was told that did not have me scheduled forthe original date but three days later! Somehow or another some one decided to move the date. My friend was witness at the time of the estimate and the fact that on the date day of the estimate itwaswritten as two weeksweeks storage. If you do use them maked sure your move in date is not changed y them . I am a woman alone and I do feel that if I were male, they would not do this to me. STAY AWAY! I've moved several times over the last few years, and this company was the WORST. It took them about 7.5 hours to move the equivalent of a two-bedroom apartment about 4 miles down the street. I even had to help them, and at 47 years old outworked their men 3-1. Because they quoted a 3-hour moving time, they then billed us over $100 an hour for the additional 4.5 hours, dramatically taking us over budget. When called, the manager basically called us liars and, of course, sided with his employees. Truth be told, the laborers were very nice people, but they were slow and spent a lot of time talking on cell phones, texting, and folding blankets. An hour of this billed time was spend folding blankets and taking breaks. When the manager "Neal" was told about this, he blamed us, telling us that we should have called when it was happening, not after the fact. We were supposed to supervise his movers, and then call him while we were working on the move to "rat" them out, all-the-while knowing that they movers we were supposed to finish the move of our life's possessions. We did call, mind you, just after they had completed the job. One of the men even told us, "If Neal would ever get off his fat ass and look at these jobs BEFORE we get here, we'd have what we need to get it done." Yes, and the overage time was OUR fault. Next, they assembled my bed, a king-size bed with a heavy mattress, wrong. So, after a long day of moving and unpacking, I went to lay down and the bed actually collapsed, nearly killing my children's cat in front of them. This was mentioned to the manager, who didn't even address it as important. I assembled my children's bed, thankfully, because the movers were taking forever to finish the job. The manager was rude, obnoxious and did nothing to help when he was made aware of the situation. Both my roommate and me told him the same story (me when I called him to complain, her when he called her to "follow up") and he still did nothing. I want to explain that I have left several reviews on many sites, and have NEVER left a negative review. This experience was so bad, so negative, that I felt compelled to share it in the hopes that no one would have to go through this again. read more

This is by far the most disreputable moving company we've ever dealt with. We had them store our furniture for nearly 2 years while we got settled in our new home. They charged us a monthly fee based on what they told us was a volume of 800 cubic feet. When our new mover came to pick up our furniture to bring to us, they informed us that the actual volume was nearly half of what BK was billing us, approximately 430 cubic feet. When I approached the owner of BK, Bill, he told me to "go to hell" and have our attorney call his. I simply asked for a reconciliation and if I was correct, a full refund of the difference. BK is a sham and anyone considering a moving company in the Atlantic City, Egg Harbor area would be best served staying VERY, VERY far away from them!! read more

I have waited for a small refund to be credited to my Visa before I wrote this review. We received an estimate from BK Movers after a walk through was performed with their representative to point out and record everything that was to be moved. After our local move of approximately one mile, I was asked to speak to BK management - with the estimate invoice in my hand, I was told what the bill actually was. Our bill exceeded the estimate by 30%+. In addition, their initial non-binding estimate included moving two refrigerators and an outdoor patio table and eight chairs - none of which was moved at our request. We moved the furniture ourselves and left one refrigerator there. I informed BK management of this. In sum, the three BK movers actually moved less, not more, than was in their original estimate. I contacted BK Movers the next day to complain and was told that they would review the charges. After the "review", I received a nominal refund, which put the final cost still exceeding 20% of their estimate. BK Movers told me that they don't low ball estimates to get the business. Very efficient, professional moving outfit. I had a local move in which I needed some stuff transferred from some shipping containers ("relocubes") which had been brought from Florida into a storage unit and some of my furniture put into an apartment about 15 miles away from that location. When I met the movers at the storage place for the transfer from the relocubes, their manager was there with them to greet me and make sure everything was OK. The whole process took 3 hours with a 3 man crew, the apartment I was moving into is on the 3rd floor and accessible only by narrow staircases with low ceilings, so the bed boxsprings had to be hoisted over the balcony and some creativity was required to get the other stuff up. the bill for 3 hours with a 3 man crew and the moving van came to $410. The default option is a 2 man crew but since there was a 3rd man free I decided to pay a little extra for a 3 man crew to make things easier and I think it ended up being cheaper that way since things moved faster. A lot of water had leaked into one of the "relocube" shipping containers (which were from different company) and a lot of the boxes of books inside were waterlogged and the boxes themselves were falling apart, so the moving crew took great care in getting all of these books out and into the storage unit to dry off. The 3 guys I worked with on this move were friendly and demonstrated skill in figuring out the best ways to deal with the challenges of the difficult to access apartment. I gave the crew a modest tip, I wanted to give them more because they were great and deserved more, but after all the other recent expenses associated with relocating up from Florida I couldn't afford it.. read more

ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE My experience with BK Movers began nice enough. Bill arrived to give me my estimate on time, walked through my house - told me which doors were going to need to come off, which furniture would need to come apart, etc. Before leaving he told me to "do my work" and get other estimates but "not to let any company try to charge me more than 10% of the estimate". He said the only way we'd be charged more was if WE AGREED that the crew had gone above and beyond what was included in the estimate. On the day of the move, his movers arrived at 9:45am (they were supposed to be there by 9:15-9:30 - no biggie though). They worked throughout the afternoon loading the two trucks that Bill had estimated they'd need. Bill's estimate was not so good (even though I showed him everything) because it didn't all fit. They ended up calling in a second crew which is where my nightmare began. The second crew (minus the lead of that crew) was HORRIBLE. One of the men said to me " I just have to tell you, you are fine as hell...I know you're married and all - but damn...." He then proceeded to curse up one side and down the other about having to move my furniture "I'm not moving that shit...this is bullshit...." etc. He referred to the first crew as "lazy ni**ers" I cannot make this stuff up. He called my Mom and I "Babe" and "sweetheart" the whole time.n I was beyond uncomfortable. My husband was at my new house with the first crew so it was just my mother and I with the second crew. He smoked cigarettes in my garage and basement which made my entire house smell like smoke (and I had a showing the next morning bc that house was not yet sold) - he also dumped the contents of our dehumidifier all over the basement floor which my mom and I then had to clean up. The cursing was so bad I called the first crew who then called the boss. I was truly uncomfortable - here I am paying them to move it - and he's cursing saying it was BS?!? To top off this horrible experience, they tried to charge me $1,000 over my estimate! I was initially quoted $1785 - they tried to charge me over $2700 because it took longer than expected. I called and spoke to Neil who said just to pay the 10% over the estimate since that's what I was told but that the rest would go "under review" - well, next thing I know I get a bill for $416 in the mail. No call to explain why - nothing - when I called to ask why - I was told they took off $400 bc of the horror of the 2nd crew - but that I still owed $416 because they had done extra work - yet, they couldn't tell me what extra was done! HE WALKED THROUGH MY HOUSE AND SAW EVERYTHING - there was NOTHING extra - and I already paid the 10% over the estimate - now they want more after I was harassed and made completely uncomfortable? Bill was nasty to me on the phone instead of understanding why I was so upset about how I had been treated and said I was just looking for a way to get out of paying them. I already paid them over $1900 - I'm just trying to be treated fairly - I shouldn't have had to pay anything after how his crew cursed and made lewd comments! I am extremely disappointed in the lack of professionalism and courtesy from this company. Bill is a great used car salesman - full of great pitches, but no follow through. They'll get you in the end - the estimate is not accurate, he's full of false promises and lock up your wives - or they may be sexually harassed. Not worth it - go with someone else! read more

Moved into our new Condo on May 12, 2015 using BK Movers. It was such a stress-free, wonderful experience and cost so much less than we expected. It was a very hot day but Jason and Chris were such pleasant and hardworking guys. We had a narrow stairway up to our second floor condo yet they managed everything (including a queen sleeper sofa and wardrobe) without a mark on any wall or any damage to the furniture. Will definitely recommend them to everyone!!!!! read more

The guys were nice, however, they were unprofessional. One talked on his cell phone the entire time. Another guy picked up a cardboard box, clearly marked "fragile", from the sides and the bottom gave out. Of course several glass items broke as they hit the ground. Then one had the nerve to tell me to start taking boxes out of the truck if I want the process to go quicker. He said I am paying by the hour so in order to save me money I should help unload the truck. I'm paying them to move, let me worry about how much I want to spend. They did go over their allotted time by 1.5 hours. Maybe I should have helped. Then after they left, I started unpacking and putting some furniture together (yes, they were supposed to put it together, but they were already over their estimated time, so I decided to put my own furniture together.) While unwrapping the furniture, I observed some damage to the corner of my kitchen table. The damage was not there when I placed it in storage. The corner damage is significant and put the tabletop out of line and the leaf does not properly fit. I contacted the manager/co-owner (Neal) and advised him. He showed up the next day with a camera and took some pictures and said he would be in touch. Several days later I received a letter in the mail from Neal stating that the damage was due to expanding and contracting of the wood while it was in the storage unit. I don't think so. It was damaged by someone dropping it. But couldn't prove it, so I got screwed. If you are looking for a good moving company who stands behind their word, don't hire BK Movers. My experience was more recent and could not be more different than the earlier reviews. At the time of the quote, the additional insurance was not explained nor was I encouraged to buy it. Upon arrival, a number of pieces of furniture had deep scratches, stripped staining, and the netting under one chair had been ripped to pieces. One box that had been packed tightly and clearly marked FRAGILE was dented and the contents smashed. While trying to bring in a recliner, I explained that during the initial move it was much easier to use the auto-recline function to lay the chair down before trying to get through doorways - they kept shoving it upright and damaged newly painted walls/doors. I have yet to locate at least one box - they do not provide a listing/numbering system as other movers do. They removed the screen door closer tube and didn't even hook it back up prior to leaving. They came out to inspect the next day after I reported the issues, and I was basically told that I was out of luck for the damage they did. They did offer to have someone come and paint over the door/walls, but at this point I am not sure that I want any representative connected wit this company in my house. Stay away from BK Movers - they are bad news! read more
