I explained that I'm disabled and that getting to the other location would be a hardship for me, but they insisted that's where I had to go. So I made the difficult trip to the other location and they told me there that they had no way to figure out the worth of the stones, so they would only give me a price for the gold. What we appreciate most is his sincerity and absolute honest opinion and knowledge of diamonds. We learned so much about diamonds, that we now educate all our friends. We tell them all the details about diamonds that Mr. Kim taught us....WAY more detail than any other jeweler we went to (mainly because all they cared about was a sale and not the overall quality and investment of a diamond). To us, this was a HUGE investment and we wanted to make sure we were getting the best diamond we could possibly get for our budget. Since we were calling from LA and never got to see the diamond, we had to trust him. He even made sure that the GIA number was showing next to the prongs so that we could inspect it ourselves with a magnifier when we received it (a little piece of mind to verify it was the right diamond on the GIA paper). It seemed like a very straightforward and easy repair. A "genius" who works there told my husband that my $500 solid gold Saks Fifth Avenue earrings were not real gold, were cheap and should be thrown away because repairing them would cost more than buying new ones. He also said that "actually, they only deal with expensive jewelry here," so my husband shouldn't have brought them in. WOW! Well, I had to take my earrings to a different jewelry store (I chose J.E.T. Jewelry), where they confirmed that my earrings were indeed gold and did a beautiful job repairing the broken part! Beware of the "professionals" at Kiky Jewelers who apparently can't tell real gold from fake and claim to deal only with very expensive jewelry. Would I ever trust them with my more expensive pieces after this experience? God, no! And neither should you!
