After years of just never quite aligning, we finally had B-bops for lunch on Monday. First tip (and this is coming from a fat guy), seriously, consider the 1/4 lb anything before considering the 1/2 lb. We parked and walked up to the front window just after 11. They were cheerful and ready to help us, but we wanted to study the menu for a minute. They didn't bother us, but just made sure we knew they were there when we were ready. Great attitudes the entire time we were there. I got the double bacon burger, and she got the double cheeseburger. Both of them were delectable, but they must measure the weight after cooking the burger - because WOW. The bacon was nice and thick, but could've used another piece. Though honestly, I probably won't get bacon next time. Didn't need it. The chili cheese fries were otherworldly. We haven't found chili cheese fries. We liked that much in about 10 years. The warm food was warm. The chocolate shakes were awesome. Love that they only do chocolate shakes and specialize in it. It was like a frosty on steroids. Bottom line is don't wait as long as we did to have this amazing food. read more

A classic that my brother begs to go to whenever we're back in town! I think this is just an Iowa chain - I could be wrong - but several locations in the area. No indoor dining or ordering: only drive through or window ordering with picnic tables outside. They're best known for their burger, which is good! The party could be better but the cheese mayo and mustard combo hits. Their fries are good and you can get them as chili fries or with cheese dip or ranch on the side. Their chocolate shakes are super thick and delish! Service is good and quick. Not the most amazing quality but a comfort classic. read more

I generally love BBops, but I rarely get to this location anymore as I live on a different side of town. Stopped in on a Tuesday night about 7:30 and the drive-up was backed up with about 12 cars in it. I walked up to the window and pressed the button outside to call for service, but it must not have worked as got no reaction from any of the staff. After a few minutes someone noticed me and took my order. Took about 4-5 minutes to get my food. Fries were hot and crisp, and the burger was hot. As I ate the burger I noticed that either some toppings were missing or were barely there. I'm sure the volume of orders affected the quality, but it was not up to the normal quality I've generally had at BBops. If I am back up here again I'll give them another shot! read more

Not my normal location, but I was in Urbandale on my way home to where I live in Clive and I decided to swing in to grab an early dinner. Similar model to many of the other B-Bops location. Dual drive through with both a driver' and passenger's side pick up. One quarter pound single with cheese and three sloppy joe sliders... The employee working the drive through was polite and personable. The order was correct and everything was cooked perfectly. Those sloppy joe's sliders are an often overlooked gem... 99 cents each and they taste so good! read more

They are patient and kind it took me a minute with the menu and walked up service so they were super patient with us. I've been eating at this place my entire life and I love it, but lately every time I have been there is this one employee, an older lady, who has her nose sticking out from her mask and it drives me NUTS. Wearing a mask with your nose out defeats the purpose completely and every time I see it I want to drive off but I can't because I've already ordered. I really want to keep coming to eat here, but someone needs to tell that lady to wear her PPE properly - wearing a mask with your nose out is like a dude wearing undies with his dong out. If you're going to have a mask policy, it needs to be enforced across the board. read more

B-Bop's is my go to for a fast food burger. They have awesome burgers and sandwiches. I love their classic cheeseburger with everything on it. The fries are pretty good here but a little thin for my taste. If you decide to stop by B-Bops, make sure you grab a chocolate shake because they are amazing and truly make the experience so much better. I stopped by here with a group of 10 people and the service at this location in Urbandale was great. All of us got our food within 10 minutes of ordering and everyone's orders were right on point. read more

The smell will make you drool. You can smell it for blocks. Even as you drive by the smell is unmistakable and pulls you in. The burgers are winners in Des Moines for years. A burger is the only thing I want if we go there. It's walk up, drive through or even passenger drive through. Today we did passenger drive through. We didn't have the best communication with the person in the box cause when we got to the window the order wasn't right. Normally the person fixes it with no questions asked but this lady kinda had an attitude about it. Long story short I ended up with more burger than I wanted cause I was not ready to argue about it. That was the only time I remember having a issue with a B-bops. We drove over to the parking lot to enjoy our food. I wasn't able to finish my double burger, but my hubby did for me. Still tasted good and they are fairly fast at getting out food. If you don't have a B-bops where you are, definitely give them a try. read more

Compared to b-bops, in-n-out is garbage. I had a long standing bet with my wife that b-bops was far superior. After her first bit she looked smirked and forcefully agreed. B-bops is fresh, big servings, quick and a great bargain. When I want a burger there is nowhere I would rather go. They also have a great chocolate shake if you're into dipping fries. For reference a simple #1 with cheese is like $6 a great pit stop as most all are simply drive through. read more

Stumbled upon B-Bop's while searching for a Walgreens to alleviate an annoying earache that had the impeccable timing of popping up while on a recent road-trip. I couldn't resist the smell of bacon, amongst other artery-clogging, deep-fried scents wafting over from B-Bop's, so my traveling companion and I decided to grab lunch there. Ordered a bacon burger and fries and damn, was I pleasantly surprised. At least it made me forget about my damn ear for a few blissful, greasy minutes. Thin, juicy patties topped with thick-cut strips of bacon, perfectly cooked. The fries were a generous portion which unfortunately I couldn't finish but they were nice and crisp on the outside with a soft, starchy center. It's exactly what you want and expect from a burger stand. You can walk up, order and have a seat outside, or you can swing through the drive-thru. And with prices that rival fast-food burger chains I would hit up B-Bop's over Mikey D's any day. read more

I am from chaska, Minnesota and we have no B-Bobs in Minnesota. We come to Iowa quite often and every time we come, I have to have B-Bobs. The burgers are perfectly cooked/grilled. B-Bop's is the best place to eat when you want good a good hot burger fast. They're fries are always hot and plentiful. They have great BBQ sauce, and burgers with a delicious chargrilled flavor! There's nothing worse than realizing you arrived 40 minutes too early to pick your daughter up from work thankfully there's a bbops nearby I feel like sitting here waiting 40 minutes isn't that bad with a B-Bop's Burger in my hand. My favorite here is definitely the ranch anything from B-Bop's is delicious as long as I get Ranch. Never disappoints! I had double bacon cheeseburger and fries and wife had chili. Everything was hot and fresh. With two drive thru the speed of service was excellent. I live dangerously close to this place. Once in a while while I'm on a walk around the neighborhood I will smell the delicious burgers cooking. Always a car in the drive through, always consistently delicious. I don't eat beef all that much but if I want a burger, I usually go for b-bops. Just a burger will do for me - no mayo. They have a great thing going. Only con is that they use styrofoam clamshells and a little part of me dies and shames myself for adding that trash to the heap. Evolve your packaging and we will love you even harder for it. Then again, I think to myself, is it really all that environmentally responsible for me to eat that high on the food chain? If you're new to Des Moines and like a damn good burger once in awhile, this is one local establishment you MUST try. I imagine if Anthony Bourdain came our way, this is something he'd want to get his hands on :) I frequent B Bops once every six months-ish just to get a fix. I order the #1 with cheese and a chocolate shake. Get the chocolate shake. I've had this similar order at other fast food places, it's just not the same. B-Bop's has delicious burgers. It's a local joint you can only get in in the surrounding Des Moines area I believe. It's kind of a unique place because you order from the little building from the outside and then there is outdoor seating. The patties are tender and juicy. It's also pretty affordable as well. Although-N-Out and B-Bop's are not on the same page, it's almost like Iowa's version of In-N-Out. Their crinkle cut fries are amazeballs too! I would definitely recommend this place. read more

I've heard mixed opinions of B-Bops and finally tried it myself on a Father's Day. Overall, below expectations. Keep on searching for a burger place. I ordered the 1/2 lb cheese burgers deal. The burger itself was average (at best) and a bit on the salty side. It was no worse or better than $1 cheese burger from McDonald's. The fries were a little on the greasy side. One plus was that it was a lot less salty than McDonald's. The tables outside had bird droppings all over with food stains and debris from what look like a few days old. We brought this to the employees attention and one was assigned to "wipe off" all the tables with a hand cloth and water. It still wasn't too appetizing as the chairs were missed. Additionally, I wouldn't consider water to sanitize the eating area. There are just too many burger place in the Greater Des Moines are that would easily compete for my eating out budget. Sorry B-Bops.....wasn't at all a great or even good 1st experience. Over-priced for below average greasy food. read more

My favorite burger place in Dsm. Flame broiled, so good!!! Both the grilled and the crispy chicken sandwiches are AMAZING. Really, nothing on the menu is bad. I have sent them a message on their website via the "contact us" form to let them know of this error. I have also called and left a voicemail.
